HIM Name: Brandon Alexander Reeves Age: 25 Hair: Shoulder-length, light brown Eyes: Blue Height: 5' 11" Build: Slim but not lanky. Lean-muscled. Personality: Suspicious, unfriendly and distant. However, he is also incredibly loyal, even if he doesn't act like it. Likes: Quiet, nature and being left alone. Dislikes: Noise, people and being commanded to do something. History: He had a normal life in a normal town, up until he was fifteen. His father got into some gambling debts that he had to pay off or else. A man offered them the money and tricked them into selling Brandon as a slave. The last he saw of his parents was his mother crying, yelling at his father to do something, and his father just standing there, looking as if his whole world was crumbling around him. The next ten years would be, for him, a living Hell. Sure, some masters were good but he never stayed there long. Those that weren't good, they left their marks on him, both physically and mentally. His latest master was definitely filthy rich. Brandon was purchased as a surprise birthday present for the man's daughter. Other: He almost never speaks so most people think he's mute but he actually has a very nice voice, and a very nice singing voice. He has a scar running from his right shoulder, down his back, to his left hip. He also has a scar running horizontally across his stomach.

HER Name: Violetta Rose Daae Age: 21 Hair: Elbow-length and her bangs cover her left eye, dark brown hair. Eyes: Her right eye is brown while the left is green. Height: 5' 4" Build: Slender muscles, hourglass form. Personality: Observant, mysterious, cautious, as well as short tempered. She can be friendly, though she prefers to stay out of people's lives. Likes: Silence, animals, and drawing the things around her. Dislikes: Being controlled, ignored, and back stabbers. History: Violetta lived the rich life since day one. With her older sister as her only loyal companion, she did her best to fit into the wealthy society. She never understood why some people ended up on the streets and due to her silence, her questions were never answered. Her father married off her older sister at a young age and Violetta knew she would follow soon after.. yet she didn't like the idea of an arranged marriage. She went along with the whole idea though, coming up with the perfect lies, she could have become a famous actress if she was given the chance. When the time finally came to marry the man that was out of the same circle of people she was in, she found out he had a lover who happened to be a middle-class girl that she had befriended and introduced to him in the beginning of their so called relationship. Being betrayed by two people at the same time over whelmed her and she locked herself up in her room for quite a while, refusing to see anyone. Ever since then she has a hard time trusting anyone, which is why she prefers the presence of animals instead. Her father got her a slave in attempt to bring her out of her misery and bring her back to life... so she still had yet to see how things will turn out this time. With her bitterness to the world, she doubts it will make things any better. Other: She has many pets though few realize it.

The sound of someone knocking on the door perforated Violetta's room. Her father was not a patient man, though he did love his daughters very much. That combination, along with desperation, was what had brought him to buy the young male waiting downstairs. Perhaps the slave could bring Violetta back out of her shell. He could only hope. "Violetta, darling, I have something for you," he called through the door to his daughter. "It's waiting downstairs."
Downstairs, Brandon's blue eyes scanned the room. It was expensive, ornate. In his time as a slave, he'd come to know good quality items when he saw them. His face bore no emotion. His skin looked red in places, evidence of his recent scrubbing. After all, one couldn't have a dirty slave in the house. He'd been changed from his previous rags into a clean black button-up shirt, gray pants and black shoes. All in all, he looked pretty good. His hair was still damp, making it look even dark but it would dry quickly. The only thing that marked him as what he was, was the black leather collar that was tied around his neck. It wasn't as tight as previous collars he'd worn, for which he was grateful, but it still wasn't very comfortable.

Tell me, what is a human worth without a heart?Violetta was currently laying down in her rather dark room since she always kept the curtains drawn and staring at the ceiling. She wasn't motivated to do anything these days. Hearing the knocking, her lips formed a tight line as she sat up, her eyes glaring at the door. Wonderful, she thought. If it was another arranged marriage suggestion she was going to chop someone's head off. She was disgusted by the mere thought of it as well. Her feet were silent against the wooden floor before she abruptly pulled the door open. "What?" she asked, one hand on the door and the other on the wall so that he wouldn't be able to enter her domain. "What is it?" she added, her voice not exactly the happiest one. Instead of waiting for answer to come from him, she closed the door behind her and went straight to the flight of stairs. She might as well see for herself since her father would probably blow whatever it was out of proportion. She blinked when she reached the bottom of the stairs to face a man a bit taller than her. Her eyes narrowed slightly as she tilted her head. He didn't have any gifts with him or a smile so he obviously wasn't here to marry her. Violetta's eyes froze when they reached his neck. A collar? That's when it all became clear to her. It was a slave. Her eyes almost burned with rage towards her father as she closed them. No, she wouldn't yell, she would speak to him when he finally reached the bottom of the staircase. Without a second thought she walked past the man and then turned to face the flight of stairs, her red dress flaring out at her feet. For mine seems to have been destroyed.

He stepped back as Violetta opened the door. When she asked what it was, he started to speak but she already walked past him to see for herself. He sighed quietly, following after her. He just hoped she would take it well. She didn't.
Brandon's eyes snapped over to the girl the moment he heard footsteps. His blue eyes locked on her face, watching her, studying her. He took in her outfit and the way she carried herself. He could read in her expression that she wasn't happy, leaving him to merely hope that her anger wouldn't fall back on him, like it had done so many times before with previous masters. His gaze switched over to the man that had bought him when he finally appeared, making his way down the stairs. It was clear to Brandon that the man hadn't gotten the response from his daughter that he had been hoping for. Sighing quietly to himself, Brandon joined his hands together behind his back.

Tell me, what is a human worth without a heart?"What are you trying to do?" she asked him, her voice low. She refused to yell in the presence of a stranger, even if it was a slave. "You think a slave will solve everything?" she took a few more steps towards her father, her posture perfect as it always had been. "Well it won't. It won't cover up what he did." she still couldn't believe her father had chosen such a suitor. It was in the past but her wounds still felt fresh and an empty hole was were her heart had been. She had fallen for the man that had betrayed her, even if she had been cold to him at first.
Turning towards the slave, she faced him, her eyes meeting his directly. "What is your name?" she asked, her voice soft but it was covered in ice just like it was for everyone else in this world. Her eyes weren't burning like they had before, they were just cold, indifferent. She would keep him.. but not for the reasons her father had bought him. Violetta wasn't the tallest of girls and she needed help reaching things at times.. even if she was stubborn. She also needed someone to help her with all her animals, someone that would keep his mouth shut and not say a word to her father. For mine seems to have been destroyed.

Her father's eyes narrowed. He wasn't patient and he would not tolerate such backtalk from his daughter. "I'm not trying to cover up what he did," he snapped. He had no such inhibitions towards arguing with his daughter in front of a slave. "I'm trying to help you move on from it."
Brandon listened to the two with vague interest. His eyes moved back and forth between the two as each spoke. However, he looked over at the girl when she spoke to him, inquiring as to his name. But he didn't answer, merely watching her. His expression gave away nothing. It was not icy like Violetta's, but empty. "The man at the store said he was mute," her father said. At the mention of the store owner, the corner of Brandon's lip twitched. If someone were vigilant enough, they would have been able to read Brandon's contempt for the store owner in that single, involuntary movement. "He also said his name is Brandon."

Tell me, what is a human worth without a heart? She lowered her head for a second as her father answered the question that was directed towards the slave. Her then looked up at Brandon with a curious gaze, she noticed his lip twitch before she turned towards her father. "I'll be taking him to my room then." Looking over her shoulder towards the strange man, she then spoke again. "Come on." she told him before going up the stairs. The slave obviously had something against the slave owner and she didn't particularly blame him, after all she would most likely hate the man that sold her body to others.
After that she didn't say a word to her father, not even a thank you since she was still holding him somewhat accountable for what had happened. Opening the door to her room, she let the slave walk in after her before she sat down in a red velvet arm chair. "Close the door behind you." he would be the first person in months to be in her room. Her eyes quickly adjusted to the darkness before she smiled as another pair of eyes could be seen on her bed. "Here Ebony." she said in a soft voice as a black cat with yellow eyes got up and quickly ran over, jumping onto her lap. "Are you good with animals?" she asked as she looked over at Brandon, he was capable of nodding, that much she was sure of. Her fingers gently stroked the cat as her eyes softened looking down at it, she could hear Ebony purring. For mine seems to have been destroyed.

Brandon kept his eyes focused on the girl, watching her. Glancing over at her father, he followed after the girl. He may have been given to her but, by law, her father was still his master. Though he highly doubted her father would try to command him, especially with the hot water he was in with his daughter. Following the girl up the stairs, he followed her to her room. He felt a twinge of annoyance at being commanded to close the door. Though it was a simple request, he felt the want to refuse but he knew that wouldn't go over well so he simply closed the door. He tried to look around the room but failed due to the poor light. It took his eyes a few moments to adjust before he spotted a figure run across the room and jump into his mistress' lap. He didn't respond to her question. It wasn't that he was ignoring her. He simply didn't feel like answering, finding looking around her room much more entertaining.

Tell me, what is a human worth without a heart? Her eyes watched him closely as he looked around, as if he was completely unaware of the question she had put in front of him. It didn't seem like he listened very well either, well she would just have to fix that. Getting up, the cat jumped down, twirling around her feet as she walked over to him. She stopped a few feet away from him. "You seem quite at home here." she said, her soft tone that she had used with the cat completely gone now. Crossing her arms, she tilted her head back slightly. "I thought you might be of some use to me.. but I guess not." she looked him over once more just to annoy him before she turned around. "You'll just have to work for my father instead then." she knew that if her father found that the slave was of no use to her, then Brandon would most likely go work in the fields or some other kind of heavy work.
Violetta was waiting for some kind of reaction from him, after all what slave wanted to work in mud and rain instead of staying in the house helping with just a few minor things? Ebony walked up to Brandon before walking around his legs, her tail standing straight up as she purred, trying to get some attention from him. For mine seems to have been destroyed.

Brandon was completely aware of the girl's eyes on him while he examined her room. He didn't care if she watched him. In fact, he would be surprised if she didn't. After all, a strange man alone with her in her bedroom? When she stood up, he looked back at her, watching her walk right up to him and speak. He noticed that her tone had hardened again and he raised an eyebrow. It seemed she had an affinity for animals that she lacked with humans. He could relate. Looking down at her, he listened as she said she was wrong in thinking she had any use for him ad that he'd have to go work for her father. He didn't believe it. She was bluffing. He didn't react to the threat, simply watching her. But, when he felt the cat weave around his legs, he leaned down and picked the feline up, gently stroking her back. The truth was, he'd had a cat before... before his life had turned to Hell.

Tell me, what is a human worth without a heart? He didn't say anything. She was about to go through with her threat but then she heard the rustle of clothing, he had moved. She looked over her shoulder to find Ebony in his arms, the cat meowing happily before purring. She pursed her lips before turning to face him completely. If her own cat liked him he couldn't be that bad. She lowered her eyes for a moment, he could help her, besides he seemed to like Ebony so she was sure he would be just fine with other animals. Then came the mewing of kittens. Ebony froze before turning her head in the direction of the noise. After a second, she jumped out and went behind Violetta's bed, near the dark red curtain of her window. There was a basket there filled with five kittens that were barely a few weeks old.
"You could have simply answered me.." she said as she watched Ebony from her chair, crossing her legs. Violetta suddenly became quiet as the sound of footsteps could be heard in the hallway, her eyes narrowed as she waited for them to become distant before she relaxed slightly. For mine seems to have been destroyed.

Brandon kept his eyes on the cat in his arms. The sound of her purring brought him back to memories from his childhood, memories he would rather leave buried. He could never have that back so why even bother thinking of it? He wasn't going to torture himself, not like that. At the sound of kittens mewling, he looked up. When the cat jumped from his arms, he watched her cross the room and disappear behind the bed. He didn't move from where he was, simply watching. However, when the girl spoke, he looked over at her. At her comment, he simply shrugged. Answered her? Yeah right. He hadn't answered anyone in nearly ten years. Why should she be any different? At the sound of footsteps, he noticed her tense, feeling himself unconsciously tense as well. He couldn't help it. When someone around him was tense, he tensed up too. But, they both relaxed when the footsteps faded.

Tell me, what is a human worth without a heart? She didn't speak for a moment and it was completely silent except for the felines. "I know you're not going to speak to me, after all, I'm no one but a rich girl to you but a nod or a shake would have pretty much summed it up." she couldn't get over the fact that she was speaking so much around him.. perhaps it was because he was so quiet. Shaking her head she got up. "I suppose they've gotten a room ready for you already." she told him before opening the door to come face to face with a maid that had been eavesdropping.
Violetta narrowed her eyes, obviously angry. The maid turned red from head to toe from embarrassment as Violetta waited for an explanation. "Miss.. your father, well he wanted to know.. how things were moving along." Her glare didn't not ease one bit as she raised her hand and slapped the woman. "Don't you ever dare do that again." she hissed as the woman began to apologize. Most of the maids stayed out of her way.. but there were a few that hated her for no reason even before the incident with her fiance, this one happened to be one of those maids. She would speak to her father about the incident later. For mine seems to have been destroyed.
