What's the difference between La and El? I mean I know El means 'The' but then I came across a sentence that said, "La billetera es amarillo" and it said it meant "The wallet is yellow." @.@

In Spanish we have a difference for THE male and THE female words. THE male is EL and THE female is LA. For this reason LA billetera (billetera is a female word) and The Book = El libro Hope you understand me xD I'm not very good at explaining xd
