Roleplay Guide - Sleeping Roleplays

[ - Last Updated: 8/28/10 - ]

{A BIG thanks to Just Before An Eclipse, Ken Kurosawa, and kroska for manning the Guide!}

We here at Lyndria recognize that there are a lot of story-lines to follow, which can be difficult at times. Therefore, we created a Roleplay Guide that will inform members of the Guild what's going on. Since all together in one thread seemed to be a big overwhelming in and of itself, I decided to separate the guide. Sadly, though these roleplays were started, they've fallen into disrepair. Please someone start roleplaying in them; they're lonely roleplays.

~~~
RP Types
Extremely Casual - The name says it all. Basically, this is the lowest level of strictness an RP can possibly have. This Type indicates that you will probably never be required to post, as it is purely fun-oriented. You have permission to post out-of-turn and possibly disregard a few of the Guild's Rules, such as the forbidden use of asterisks.
Note: This Type of RP will only be allowed in the Casual RPer.
Casual - This Type indicates that the RP is purely casual. Without your post, there is a possibility of the other Characters getting stuck in the storyline, but it wouldn't be a major concern, so you are not necessarily obligated to keep track. The Rules of etiquette in this RP will be decided by the creator and will be clearly indicated.
Semi-Strict - This Type represents a moderate amount of strictness. Bordering on Casual, this particular Type of RP will encourage you to post in-turn, but will allow the storyline to pause temporarily if you fail to post, until too much time passes and they are forced to move on without you. Basically, you are encouraged post when it is your turn, but you will not receive angry PMs if you don't.
Moderately Strict - You are strongly encouraged to post often. If you fail to do so, the storyline will come to a complete halt, as posting out-of-turn is simply not an option. If too much time passes, the other RPers will move on with another side of the story if they can realistically do so, but if there is no hope of recovery without your post, the other members of the RP may decide to send a PM simply notifying you of your need to post.
Hardcore - This RP Type indicates that the creator of the RP has set a specific quota for how many posts will be expected from each RPer within a certain length of time (ex. once a week). If you fail to meet this quota without reason or prior notice, you will be asked to leave the RP.
Introduction
In this class, you will learn facts about the various magical beasts as well as their habitats, how dangerous they are and how to defeat them.
Plot:
Coming from his quaint hovel in his stiff new uniform, Quork proudly enters through the academy through the side door. With a quick inhale, he sorts through the smells of the castle to locate its Headmistress. Reaching her office, he is welcomed in my a young lady, nervous about the upcoming class. Lady Fae gives the gnoll the simple tasks of unlocking the gate and cleaning up the dining hall.
From his position, a servant, Quork out of fear and some respect, works hard for the food and safety the lady provides. The young girl feels a certain repulsion to the odd creature. Once he leaves, she drinks herbs she has hidden in her desk. They help her maintain a humanoid form, even if they cause chills and sometimes seizures, for they’re partially poisonous. Attempting to ignore the euphoria and sharp pains, she dropps her head to the desk, muttering her hatred of curses.
Quork completes his chores quickly, using the academy as an obstacle course. When he returns to the lady, Miles enters the academy, and is surprised to see a gnoll at his door. His appearance frightens Qurok, causing him to rush into the office and hide behind Fae’s desk. The headmistress takes the commotion in stride, greeting Miles instead, and then introduced Quork to him. Quork, fearful and distrusting of all enlightened, especially elves, maintained his safe spot behind Fae. He believes that if any elf were to find him, he would be skinned. ((I’m unsure if that means killed or not…X.X)) Fae and Miles discussed his upcoming trials, while Quork went home having been dismissed.
Erik, fleeing from hounds of darkness, slipped inside of the castle. Though his memory was shattered, bits told him this was the Academy and that a Fae was here. He wandered the halls, until he came upon the Beasts of Lyndria door, and knocked also. An adorable silver fox also wandered the halls, until coming upon Erik’s figure. Fae welcome them both in and introductions were made while another entered the Academy. He attempted to remain hidden outside the office, but the talented teacher spotted Eren almost immediately. The two newcomers, Eren and Erik had a battle of wills before Fae stepped between them. Miles, standing the side, declared he was interested in his next task. Fae, growing quickly exasperated, sent him off to the sphinx with a partner of his choice.
Active Characters:
Arturo Mesna - A human; played by reZ_SK
Linus - A vampire, and friend of Arturo; played by reZ_sk
reZ - a robot created by Arturo; played by reZ_SK
Hook:
Very few humans are allowed to help the Konijns develop new inventions and technologies. Those that earn their trust are able to work within the Pate, a large laboratory in the eastern side of Nyx. This is an honor, for few are as intelligent and skilled in technology as the Konijns. However, one a vampiric human they selected has an ulterior motive.
They rescued him, offering him blood, and through his intelligence and cunning nature, he proved himself. Now, after being trained, he plans to steal the secrets and return to Bulen, his home. But he must be careful, for his intelligence is not equal to the Nyxians, and if he's caught, he will be hunted down quickly. He is also disabled by his vampiric nature, needing blood and darkness to survive. Will he escape Nyx with his life? You choose.
Plot:
Sitting atop a stone pillar before the Pate, Arturo watched the Kolign guards change shifts, followed by his vampiric friend, exit as well. Jumping down, he greeted his friend, seeing his troubled expression. Questioning him, he asks if the vampire is still considering his theft. Arturo quietly admits agreeing with him, if it weren't for weapons, as Lyndria needs stimulus. However, with the weapons, there would just be violence. Though the vampire knew, he didn't care. Their opinions on the Koligns varied, from respect to a mild jealousy.
Linus however was focused on improving his position, and finally getting power. Still, he considered Arturo his friend, and he did not want to break that friendship. His inner turmoil was great as he teetered between his desires and his loyalties. Unsure, but tired of worrying, Linus leaves his friend, to return to work.
Arturo decided to take a pleasant walk around the giant obsidian dome to clear his head. Remembering the awe he felt upon first entering. Even now he was still awed by the Koligns’ intelligence but also their ability to hold back the potential power they possessed. He respected them, and wished Linus would as well.
Passing a group of agricultural developers, he caught the eye of one female he found himself attracted to. Inter-relations between Kolign and Human did not occur. The Kolign believed in maintaining a pure lineage. None the less, they remained unpretentious towards other races, as it could only fuel hostility.
Reaching his station, Arturo started working. His task was to smooth the transition of devices to non-Kolign nations. Though those plans were in the far future. For now, only harmless children’s toys were released to the public.
As Arturo worked, reZ, an AI he created himself, pulled up the schematics of the weapons he had before him. Linus, took a break from his work. Once again he thought about his friend, Arturo, knowing how much he’d sacrificed for him. With a sigh, he returned to work, keeping some data keys on the side, for his dangerous quest.
Active Characters:
Salem - ;played by Ooshnagam
Hirona - ;played by Scarlette Nishidaki
Dakziel - ;played by Kaioi Meisin
Hook:
Each Dragon clan is named for a gemstone corresponding to the coloration of their scales and their behavior. Dragons see these gemstones as vessels to contain the greatest magicks. When one gem strikes another, a terrifying spectacle occurs. Now it is happening. The Diamond clan’s thirst for dominance has caused them to go to war with the Opalines. The Opalines have led the Dragons for they are the wisest, knowing the secrets of all other clans. But now, the remaining clans have been pulled into the battle. When will it stop? Who will return peace to this land? And how?
Plot:
After using his stolen gem to teleport to the capital city, Salem entered the gates. Immediately he was blocked by a pair of guards, demanding he state his purpose. Lying, he declared he held news of an assassination attempt on the leader, and the pale guards granted him quick access. The only remaining task for him was to foil a fake assassination. Hiding in the bushes, he waited.
Hirona was angry. She had been waiting for an incursion for months to extract her revenge, but none had come. A rare newcomer entering the village caught her eye. The glint of red enticed her, as she was certain it was from a ruby. Therefore she followed the man.
Putting on the guise of a corrupt merchant, Salem persuaded a shady peasant into an alley. Knocking him out, he decided to use him as the potential assassin. Teleporting with his gem once more, Salem reached the palace gates, and was once more ordered to state his purpose. Continuing with the lie, he dangled the unconscious man, labeling him as an assassin. Once more the guards let him in, though he was searched first. Fortunately for him, the king arrived before the guards could find anything. Relaying his message gained the king’s trust, and after relieving the guards, he approached Salem, who in turn held him at knifepoint, demanding the location of the gem.
Hirona, who had been hiding thanks to a concealment spell and a fog over the guard’s minds, attempted to attack Salem from behind, but the man dodged automatically. The king, who appeared quite dumb, was at least uninjured. Pulling out a sword, she questioned why he wanted the gem, then tacked on a threat of taking the ruby she’d seen.
Though caught off guard, Salem began to form a spell in his mind, as the threat of her increased, he decided to activate it, influencing everyone in the room to wish to please him. Though he could increase it’s power, it remained at half power, 5, which could still take down even the most strong willed non-magical person, and could influence novice to adept magic users. He calmly asked for her knife, testing the strength of his spell.
His voice morphed to layers of treble in baritone, the harmony becoming beautiful and compelling her to listen. Hirona reached for her knife, but age old counter spells kicked in, snapping her out of the fog. She taunted him, to try again.
Salem admitted the girl was impressive, but simply increased the power of his spell to seven. His voice shining with even more charm, he repeated his request. Her resolve was weakening: most masters would have fallen, and guru’s would have a desire to obey. Once more Hirona reached for the knife, wrapping her fingers around the cold steel. Shaking her head, she dropped the knife, telling him to quit.
The effects of the spell were starting to bother Salem, but he continued, increasing it to eight. His very soul seemed to tear but he continued. Realizing her power was strong, he changed the command to stillness. Then he grabbed the King with his gatekeeper’s gem and teleported outside of the city to an inn. The innkeeper, not able to recognize his ruler, took his money and gave him a room. The influencing spell had a lasting effect on the dumb king and Salem used that time to take him into the room. Then he started to interrogate him about the gem.
Outside of the castle, Drazkiel wished for shade. He had been traveling for a day to find beings worth fighting, for the strongest were the best to consume. Reaching the gate, he was also greeted with warnings and threats. As an fireball was through at him, he dispersed into shadow, drifting through the arrow slots to kill the guards. He checked each body’s essence, finding only the mage powerful enough to be helpful. After drawing the mages power into his own body, he strode into town as if he’d been welcome the entire time.
As the spell wore off, Hirona was left standing there. Realizing the king was gone, she fled quickly, knowing blame was sure to fall on her. In her rush, she ran into Drazkiel, knocking them both over. Angry at first, he realized she was one of the level 5s he’d sensed earlier. Then his ire increased when he realized she was safe from his grasp in the sunlit street. Pushing her off of him, he stood, walking away but watching where she head.
Somehow Salem realized that he didn’t want to steal the gem, his goal was for one side to win the war. Therefore he apologized to the king, and returned him to his throne room, where the dumb king was smart enough to call for his guards. Therefore they started to chase him, and the young thief turned the chase into a game. It didn’t take him long to grow bored of the game, and he decided to lose the guards in a local maze?
Hirona went to the inn to fetch her belongings, then found an alley covered in shadow. After a quick glance at her valise of stolen gems, she decided to relax in the shadows. Which was where Drakziel spotted her once more, in his place of power. Chaffing her he warned her of monsters in the dark. Though weirded out y the guy, Hirona put on a brave face, declaring he definitely was one, then asking why he had come. Answering honestly, the gray man replied the darkness and future power, as he formed his sword.
In an ingenuous move, Hirona tossed up her bag of gems, causing them to catch with light and blind Drakziel, who did not double over. He still let her flee, leaving her finances behind, to become a tavern wench. Gathering the gems, he waited for darkness.
Just before sunset, Hirona left her work, to go watch the sunset. The serene atmosphere was ruined by Salem suddenly appearing in her lap? The two ‘talk,’ with Salem trying to be polite and Hirona just wanting him to not be there while being a little scatterbrained, mentions her lost gems. Thus giving Salem the glorious idea of going to get them, with his gatekeeper gem. He worries though, about the gray guy’s strength at night.
Before she goes gallivanting ((I more just wanted to use the word)) off with him, Hirona wished to learn his name. At which point, he disappears, eats a nacho and gets run over by a bus. Yes, WTF is a great reaction. But it’s what’s written.
