So my husband is Agnositc, or that's what I would call him, but he does not specifically believe in a god or gods. We've had many discussions and he seems to be Agnostic or Spiritual.

Last night we were talking about spirits and ghosts that we have seen. Then he got to his wolf. He said it is a huge black wolf with orangish yellow eyes that just stands there and stares at him. His cousin has seen it with him and when he was at boot camp other people have seen it with him. He said he's seen it like 10 times! And it's always staring at him! Comming from someone who is not religious, but believes in spirits and demons, that truly makes me wonder what that wolf is. He also said that he only sees it in thick woods. After the night is over he has gone to where he saw the creature and he said there were no footprints, but the bushes and foilage had been matted and disturbed by something big. He said he has never been completely alone with it so we can not guess if it is there to guard him or urt him, but after 22 years he is still fine after multiple sightings. So my guess is that it is some sort of spirit guardian. I have heard of spirit guardians, but I have never heard of anyone actually seeing one. And the fact that there were no footprints, but the undergrowth was disturbed leads me to believe this is something that can manifest when it wants. Plus, he has seen it in the Appalachian mountain on camping trips, at his house in MD, then boot in SC, so it can travel.

I asked about the position of the wolf. He said he has never seen its teeth and its tail is in a rather neutral position. I forgot to ask about the ears, but I would imagine they are alert. So I explained a little about wolf behavior and what the tail can tell you.

He also asked if it could have been some sort of reflection. I said there is a possibility, but if he is seeing a huge black wolf I really do not think it is reflections.

So... Now that I have that all layed out what are your thoughts?

Have you heard of something like this? Seen one yourself? Know someone who has?

Any information would be great. I think both of us would love to know more about what he has seen. And I don't want to have to go on a wolf hunt when my husband does not come back from his next training. He gets the to the thing like in G.I. Jane, where they try to avoid capture and when they are they are tortured, broken fingers, drowned... Sounds fun... Don't need a wolf in the mix...

Well to me it does sound like a spirit guardian. Or even possibly the soul of one he lost. But, beware. I have heard (and seen!) things like that. I personally believe it was the sickness I had but, after describing it to one of my friends, we agreed on something. Demons. So, your husband could be seeing a demon in a wolf like form. They are usually featureless, sometimes they do have striking eyes. I suggest asking him if it is the color black with texture, or more of a big dark shadow.

Another thing you might want to look out for, is if you are just having your leg pulled. Because, that has happened to me before. ((I.E. people telling me my doll was haunted, and some jackass girl telling me and my friends that we were gonna save the world)) it is just something you should look out for.

Either thing is possible. I wish you much luck~

I don't think it was a Demon, Demons are usually more vicious and irritating than that when they show interest. leastways by my definition of the word.

it seems like either the Ghost of a Wolf, or a Spirit of some kind. I'm willing to bet it's a Guardian Spirit, possibly a Totem. perhaps even an Ancestral Totem.

That' what I said about demons. That if it wanted to harm him it would have. And I just asked and he said he's not screwing with me and I believe it. He also just said that he could not tell if it was a shadow-like creature or an actual furred wolf.

He seems to believe it is a Dire wolf, which has been extinct for a long time. Possibly a familiar from a past life..? But either way, I do not think it means him harm. I am glad I am not the only one who thinks that.

I actually googled Dire wolves last night and they said they were 5 feet long and 175 pounds in multiple places. That is smaller than an English Mastiff my friend has {he's 190}. He said it is bigger than that. He just keeps saying it is huge, but he has never had a pet so I don't know how his size chart matches other's. But I think he said the disturbed bushes were pretty big and some wer really messed up.

:nods.: Wolves and big Dgs were often considered symbols of Death in Japanese mythology. I imagine that a Giant Black Wolf watching im might be an Omen, when I think about it.

I would say it was his Totem animal.

We looked up Fenrir that night and read his story. That the other gods feared him so much that they tricked, bound, and banished him. I really don't think Fenrir was that evil, just strong, feared and, therefore, misunderstood.

What type of omen do you think it could be? He has seen it for a very long time and his situation has changed many times over the years.

Yes, that is what I think. However, with the talk of an omen that could also be it. I think depending on how long it is around you will be able to figure out which it is.

He's seen it multiple times in the span of like fifteen years. I don't know how young he was when he first saw it.

aright, that settles it to me. it's no Omen. it's either a Ghost that likes to be around him, or it's a Totem.

was there any event that happened around the time that he started seeing it for the first time? anything that happens whenever he sees it? any common threads?

He can't remember the first time. He has always been in the woods. It has never left the woods. And he can't remember if anything happened before he saw it so I would say no to the "specific events that could trigger it".
