"Hm?"
They sat in a small tower, because that's where they lived.

"You need to go out and look again," a man from the shadows came out, his back erect as he stood up tall. His steps were brooding and his voice was straight, clear; he was so sure of himself. His body radiated arrogance, that was true, but it was something she had grown used to. "But I was just out, there's nothing out there. Why don't we wait some more until someone shows great strength?"
Kari had been leaning against the opening of the tower, her side rested on the edge while her arm hung out, sitting on the floor. "Have you no pride? Make use of yourself before we use you." Kari had gone from looking out the tower to him, snarling at him while she scowled. "Do not test me, Pride. I know your weakness."
He let out a sigh of arrogance, Kari sweeping herself up off the floor - her dress lifting up along with it. "Fine, I'll go inform him of your disuse."

She growled at him, her body flaring with anger. "Fine! I'll do your bidding, but don't get mad at me if I don't return with any candidates, I already told you there is none out there." Pride swept his hand over his outfit once, black pants along with a shirt and blazer. "Alright, take sloth with you." Kari sighed, her long fingertips pressing to her temples.
"She's useless," her hand went down, brushing past the hem of her dress. It was usual for Kari to wear dresses, she changed them often, a different one each day but they were usual. "Sloth isn't completely useless." He snorted at their statements, before hearing small heals click against the towers tiling.
"Useless? Me?" Sloth's words came out slow, she too wore a dress but unlike Kari her's never changed, forever glued onto her body. "Let's just say your abilities are...limited." Kari waved her hand through the air, accentuating her movement while Pride snorted with arrogance once again. "No matter, take her along. You both need to be useful."

Pride earned another glare from Kari, but he didn't care, for he had already turned away from the pair, his back facing them in one swift motion before he walked back into the darkness.
"Da, should we go then?"
For a moment her vision had enclosed on the recceding shadow of Pride, but upon hearing Sloths mellow slow voice, she acknowledged her. "We might as well make a scene, a true character will show themselves in a crisis."
"Da, true."


The center of the town was known for holding the most people, not only that but it held a intricately constructed water fountain, made from alchemy.
Together the duo walked around the center, Sloth wearing a hood while Kari's head went bare. "Is there anyone?"

Her teeth clenched in anger but she let it slide with a sigh that escaped her mouth, "No, as I said before there is no one. We scoped this whole place from top to bottom."
Sloth's heals clacked against the pebble-like tiling in the town square, her head down while Kari's was up and looking around nonchalantly. "Da, you were right then. Shall we cause a scene anyways?" Sloth's hands lifted up, her longated fingers touching her bottom lip before she parted them slightly; a small breathe passing out and making itself known. From that Kari sighed again, scratching the back of her head and stopping her movement - Sloth following suit. "I suppose so, If we don't Pride will tell him we've been useless again."

Kari's eye's piqued, seeing Sloth's hands appear from her long sleeves. This was a sort of sign, they were going to have to cause a scene. "What would make these humans cry more?" From that she stepped forward, her hand outstretching and touching the fountain. Kari stood there and watched as the water began to spray outwards, the fountain deteriorating from the inside out; a slow deconstruction. "Their city crumbling? Da, will this do?"

Finally the fountain just let go, it falling apart all together but it didn't make the humans scared, just cry out from the deconstruction. "Hm, no. It will have to be more. Yes, more work is to be done." She yawned, feeling bored and thinking that this was how Sloth might feel all the time; why not amp things up? "Grab a human." She snickered a bit, one hand on her hip while the other dangled toward her side. From that Sloth turned around, the deconstruction of the fountain had caused the people in the towns square to become skiddish; their main focus on the fountain itself and not on the unusual pair. Sloth whipped out her hands once again, even through the uproar her voice was still calm; still mellow. "But if I touch them, they'll crumble." Her fingers had curled and became a bit fierce, seeing the people run about her back and forth.
"So be it."

They had stepped apart from each other, true Sloth was slow but slow meant sneaky.
Her 'gift' was slow destruction, because that's what she was best at; slowly destructing things, including herself. One touch from her slender fingers would make anything break down, molecule by molecule - till it became nothing.

Kari held no gift, she was just simply her, an alchemist. Her work was fine, but it was her brain that had lead her toward the destructive group of homonculi; she was useful.

Still the people rushed around her, some standing far off to see the fountain break down.
Sloth had bent down, her frame making a 'c' while she touched the pavement. The cement broke down, cracking while she looked around to see the destruction spread.
Kari skidded away, frowning as she searched the scene.

There was a man, hopping about frantically due to the floor cracking under his feet; but he didn't seem like a useful candidate. There was an older woman, rushing past the square to try and reach another side of town, her long dress held in her fists while she ran but she wasn't useful either.
And finally she spotted something that seemed to strike a cord in her heart, make her feel guilty for the first time in a while.

A child.

A tiny girl stood at one corner, people running around her and paying her no-mind. But there she stood, crying and wailing as loud as she could. Her tiny fists rubbing her eyes, while her free hand clenched at her clothes.

"Tch, that's enough. Let's go home." Kari sighed, lifting up her arms and putting them behind her head, strolling past the broken fountain and past Sloth; who had stood back up, her lips slightly curling downward. "You're giving up already? When did you grow a heart?"
But Kari ignored her walking past, her own frown forming. "I said that's enough, there's no one here anyways; like I've said before this whole place is empty. We might as well look elsewhere," She shouted it loudly, it becoming a little bit audible through the medium-loud commotion. Dutifully Sloth followed, her feet tinily tapping against the pavement and making her seem to float, "Da, but what will we tell Pride?"

Kari shrugged, her arms behind her head before they fell to her sides, both of them walking between a small slit formed by some houses, an alleyway that led them to their headquarters. "The truth? Ha."

There she was again, back into the tower; displeased. Kari's palm was smashed against her cheek, making one of her eye's close. Of course Pride was yelling at her, that's how he was.
Sure he was "evil" but he did take pride in his work. If things weren't done correctly, or at all, that person was sure to get a lashing from him.

"Then you will travel somewhere and find us one, make sure they come back. The creator needs a new candidate." He scoffed at her, standing there with his arms crossing over his chest.
"What? Me? I was the one who said that there wasn't anyone here to begin with. Why don't you travel?" She growled back, her own voice scoffing at him a bit.
"You are the capturer, Kari. You find them. You know what he's looking for."

Her hand pulled away from her cheek, making her sit up a little and lean back to get a good look at Pride from an angle. Once again she had been leaning on the tower's window, now looking at him. "Where would I go first? You expect me to travel for a sacrifice? Shouldn't they already be here, this is where the military base is. Anyone who has potential for anything would qualify for ranks."
Once again he smiled, taking some enjoyment out of her displeasure. "Then go there and search through their files." From this he turned away from her, feeling as if he had won this battle between them.

Kari noted him, making a face before he walked away. Standing up herself and leaning out the window and looking at the floor. A jump wasn't too bad, so that's what she did.
Kari jumped down, landing on the pebble stone at the bottom. She stood in an alleyway now, the jump being an easy feat for someone skilled in gymnastics, from there she just walked to the base. Wondering if she should bother to cloak herself up, but the military men were stupid after all. They probably wouldn't notice a girl that looked out of place.
