sorry hope this is the correct subforum.
so anyway long story short 4 years ago I stayed in Japan with a host family.
We are still in contact the only problem is I haven't really practiced my Japanese in a long time and they don't really know English.....so anyway I sent an email with the attempt of saying "when would be a good time for me to call"
she tried to call a few days ago and got my grandmother at 4am....xD
and my spoken is like 10x better then my written.
got this email back and I am sadly stumped.
仕事あるから、よるがいいな。

thanks <3 xoxo

I'm at a loss as well. I asked someone close to me though, hopefully she will be able to say.

If I might ask, where was it, and through what were you able to stay at a host family?

The kanji is the kanji for shigoto = job. My guess would be: 'After work, in the evening would be fine'. But if were you I would wait for someone who knows for sure what it means razz I can ask my classmates or teacher today....

Shasita's guess was pretty accurate.
Your former host said, "I have work, but night is good."
