The world is odd, though very old. Some technology exists but it is to support those of alchemy and the unusual trades. Through vast lands and seas, many places exist both around and in between it's own reality. A war long ago, long forgotten had once ripped the veils and opened doorways into other realms. Sometimes things come in, and some go out, though not in some time. Those that go through these doors are seldom or never heard from again.
There are those of magic, and those of wit. Those of the magic tend to run the world around them, taking a higher stand from their abilities. One grouping works in the shadows and now named as such. The Order of shadows though none knows their home locations, tend to take others of magic or peasants from the streets, their homes, and towns. Most never seen or heard from once taken.
The hume Locke will soon find his world shifted once in their sights. True to their name, They swarm him in a dark cloud. All light and sight of the area gone as only the blur of movement passes. As the shadows clear they reveal three men in dark robes, their faces covered by hoods. Guards surround him ready for a fight. "Take him to the dungeon labs. This one will make an interesting study, so deem our stars." The middle one would say in a deep old sounding voice. As the three would turn to walk away the guards would rush him.

Locke was surrounded, and didn't know what to do. He knew about the Order, but didn't realize he had done anything to be put on their watch list.
"If it's a fight you want, I'll oblige. I know not why you are after me, but I am not going while I'm conscious."
Locke rushed the middle figure, ready to strike, but the figure had quickly dodged, and was already chanting a spell.
"Magic, huh? You wizards think you rule the world, and all that's in it, don't you?"
It was the last thing Locke had said before the being had finished chanting, and he had passed out...

The wizard chanted the spell knowing the other would have little time to react or reach him before it would take hold. He lowered his hand watching the guards take hold of the man before turning and taking his leave.
The guards moved swiftly knowing the spell only lasted so long. Soon down winding stairs to the cooler levels of the building they would eventually place him in a cell in the middle of one room, then take their leave. The room itself was littered with shelves, bottles, small glowing lights and a mist about the lower part of the room. The air thick with moisture. In no order necessary there seemed to be tubes, and if one looked closely figures floating within.
One of the workers entered the room looking over the man that had been put into the cell making a few notes on his charts, then would turn and look to one of the tubes making a displeased noise. He turned calling an associate and nodded as they seemed to smash the glass. The form of a man splashing out onto the floor with strange markings that faded as he lay there. The assistant poked the figure a few times before beginning to drag them from the room. The first man then going to the next tube and placing a hand on the glass, a slight wave radiating on the glass to his touch.

Locke had awoken to his new surroundings. Still groggy, he reached for his sword, realizing it was gone. Taken. And then he realized what was worse: he was now a prisoner of the Order of Shadows.
Just great, he thought to himself. Go out to the market for a meal, and get thrown in the dungeon.
He looked around to try to get a feel for his new accommodations, but could barely see. He had a small window in his wall, which he could make out as a door, and he peered through. a couple figures appeared to be tapping on what looked like... aquariums? He couldn't make sense of it.
He decided to try to get one of the men's attention. "Hey! You! What's a guy got to do to get a drink around here?" Didn't have much hope of getting out of the cell he was in, so he decided to make the best of it, and try to rough the guards' feathers a little.

The man at the tubes turned hearing the voice and nodded to another assistant. He then made his way towards the cell holding their newest. "Ah, you're awake, good." He looked through the cell window then back to his board in his hands. He looked up seeing three guards and nodded. The two guards would open the cell and take hold of Locke, one for each arm, the third guard there just in case. The man in the coat came closer to look him over and taking note. He raised his hand and a soft green ring would appear around Locke and float before moving up and down the height of his body before disappearing. "Well, he isn't much magic wise, but skill set wise he should do well enough. Come along then, let's see which tube is free." He then turned motioning for the guards to follow as they walked through the lines and rows of tubes. He looked to one pausing a moment and touching the glass with a smile at the process of this particular subject. "I think the tube beside this one will do. She's made such major progress, who knows, perhaps it will filter to his." He then turned looking to Locke. "Do not worry, after this, you'll remember nothing of this life, and only what they've asked you to be designed to do." With that said he would move to take his leave, leaving the guards to try putting Locke into one of the tubes.

Locke remained compliant as much as he could, trying not to anger the guards, and keeping his attention to detail. Even now, he was looking for the chance to escape. However, there was not much he could do, except allow them to put him in the tube.
"You know, guys. I think I liked my other cell better!" He was stubborn as ever, and nothing would change that.
He sat down in the tube to sleep, realizing he head lost this round. Locke gazed over at the tube next to his, and saw the body of a young woman. She was plugged in to these machines the Order had apparently confiscated. He looked at her soft features before passing out, yet again.

As he slept the tube would fill with liquid suspending his form within it. The liquid a cold gel like substance, and a mask for breathing would cover his face as all other in the tubes. His body would feel energy about, though more as if in little pricks along his skin. The gentleman before came to watch with the board and take notes, then look to the other in the tube beside him. He placed his hand to the glass once more seeing the glow radiate along the tube in a few different shades of blue and green. An interesting turn to make not of. He then moved along down the line.
Hours would seem to pass as all subjects floated in their tubes oblivious to the worlds around them. At one point alarms would seem to sound and the gel would seem to energize more shocking tube inhabitants awake. Some tubes exploded, others simply broke. The tube holding Lock would open as if another had broken it from the outside, the gel flooding out to bring him with it. The tube beside him seeming the only one untouched. Fires erupted about the lab and yelling of guards and others would ring about the room.

A scattered dream that's like a far-off memory...
Locke awoke, little by little to the chaos that seemed to have befallen the lab. What happened, and who was responsible, didn't matter right now. He was free, and that's all he cared about. He pulled himself off of the ground, tearing the mask from his face, and cleaning what he could of the gel off his body.
"I'm free! Now if only I can find a weapon, I can cut my way through this prison." He started to leave, but hesitated. He turned and looked at the tube that was next to his, remembering the figure he saw in their before. He noticed her's was the only tube that had not smashed, so, just to be even with the world, he gladly smashed it.
As the contents of the gel and girl fell out of the tube, he cleaned her up, and carried her off in search for a way out. ...A far-off memory that's like a scattered dream

Her form would fall from the glass barely registering anything had happened, her mind not fully realized of the world around her. She registered movement around her, but her senses were dull as if barely there until there seemed to be silence.
Soldiers would be about attempting to keep order in the chaos unsure what had actually caused the problems of the lab. Somewhere in her senses she reached out softly feeling a rough hard surface. She wanted to wake but as soon as she had the feeling and sensation it was gone. As her fingertips would touch a wall a small barely noticeable wave would ripple outward the length of the wall. Locke would soon notice a small doorway as if the wall itself were showing them the way out. And each wall as he would go would also open, only to close behind them as if nothing had happened.

A scattered dream that's like a far-off memory...
Locke carried the young woman out of the dungeon, and upward to freedom and fresh air. He realized that she must be the one who was opening the walls for them to pass through, but he didn't know how. He had never heard of anyone with such power as hers...
They finally reached the outside, but none of the scenery look familiar. Locke concluded that they must be in another town, or even another country for as much as he knew...
He took the youth to a nearby alleyway, and there they rested. He laid her down, and he covered her with a sheet he found lying around nearby. "You wouldn't know where we are, would ya?" he asked, not really expecting an answer. ...A far-off memory that's like a scattered dream

She found herself able to wake though everything was blurry. It had been so long since she could use her eyes and senses, it began to overwhelm her. She simply watched between him and the area as they traveled as if in a daze. As he rested her against a wall and covered her with a blanket she moved slowly to pull it closer. She didn't know who he was or where they were so simply shook her head to the question unsure if she could manage speaking. She wasn't scared, she felt little emotion locking away what she could with her senses waking. She looked to him with her azure colored eyes and then at the area.
After a bit she felt sleepy, but awake. She brought a hand to rub her eyes a bit before feeling curious. She motioned to stand though had to hold the walls not having used her legs in some time. She took note of how high she seemed and remembered being closer to the ground. Once she thought she got the hang of it once more she attempted walking, making it to the edge of one building and looking at the people about the street. She then would turn back and sit beside him offering him the sheet he had let her use earlier.

A scattered dream that's like a far-off memory...
Locke watched the youth as she attempted to walk and gain control of her senses. "They must have had you in there for some time. You don't seem to know how to walk." He moved over a little to let her come back and sit down. Taking the blanket, he wrapped it around the two of them. "you seem to be a little sleepy still. We'll rest here for an hour, and then go. Not safe to stick around more than that. ...A far-off memory that's like a scattered dream

She nodded looking to him and sat beside him after a moment pulling her knees to her chest as he wrapped the sheet around them. She leaned her head back against the wall before bringing a hand to run through a still somewhat wet strand of hair and grimaced a bit in it. "Thank you." She said after a moment. Her voice low, somewhat like a whisper as she remembered how to speak. She felt odd and out of place beginning to remember simple things, but wondering how long she had been asleep. She closed her eyes resting them a moment before opening them to watch him. She felt almost lucky with someone being kind, though was weary all the same. "Andrea,... or, Andy." She said again just as low. She wasn't sure how she remembered but figured her name was something she couldn't forget.

"Andy, huh? Well, Andy, you're welcome. Oh. The name's Locke. Pleasure to meet you." He wrapped his arms around her shoulders, doing his best to keep her warm. "Well, let's try to get some rest, okay? We can figure out what to do when we get ready to run." Locke shut his eyes, and leaned his head on the wall, falling asleep. ...A far-off memory that's like a scattered dream

She nodded slightly looking to him as he mentioned his name. She felt a bit awkward as he put an arm around her but would let it be. She felt a little tired but not knowing how long she had been asleep she figured to stay awake would be for the better. She looked to the alleyway as he rested moving slightly when she thought him fully asleep. She was curious about the things around them. Moving carefully so not to disturb him she stood once more pulling the sheet more for his warmth. She was cold, but it was tolerable considering the suit she was in. She looked to it sticking her tongue out slightly as she pinched at the fabric. She would turn quickly though hearing noise to see two men in armor. It took her a moment to remember why they seemed familiar and took a few steps back in reaction. "No." She said just above a whisper. She turned seeing Locke and moved beside him tugging a bit at his shoulder. "Wake." She said again seeing the men getting closer. She huffed a moment standing and pulling at his arm trying to get him to rise. "Must wake, danger comes."
