Quote: With security lacking as it was, breaching the main yard of the compound wasn't all that difficult, even for a pregnant prisoner like herself. Her rage controlled once again, Midnight's bear form had retreated and she appeared to be just your average human woman until one looked closer. Covering her skin were a multitude of tribal tattoos marking her rank within a local tribe, but the aged brown ink was made difficult to read against her well-tanned skin. Decorating her forearms and legs were various tribal trinkets such as the teeth of large predators. Her hip-length jet-black hair was wild and untamed from her poor treatment and days in a cage. Lastly and most obvious, having been raised free of the rules of civilization she was most comfortable in her own skin, therefore, she wore little clothing. While the courtyard was up in chaos over this lost experiment, she was still (a mostly) naked woman. Even pregnant, she still had generous curves that would catch many a persons eye... and this wasn't the type she wanted eyeballing her. Sticking to the shadows as best she could, Midnight headed for the front gate of the prison.
******
The double portcullis front gate to the upper levels was normally well guarded however, there were only two sentries minding it tonight, with the whole rest of the compound in uproar over the clearly talented Fer De Lance. Once he'd got into the forest, even more reinforcements had been called and the buildings, grounds and various labs were not as well garrissoned as they could have been.
A disadvantage though, was that every guard, every monster, everyone, was on high alert and apt to notice even the smallest of movements.
The twisted stag monster that had been accompanying the earlier watchman paced the corridor leading off from the main hall, to the front gate. Raising its head, the beast's six nostril slits flared and it uttered an ugly soft snort and trotted out of the shadows, clopping hooves tracing after the figure that just swept past it a few moments ago, trailing the loose lead on the cracked metal collar it wore. Treading lightly, it was attempting to sneak up on her.

It was shame for Midnight that the demons/monsters weren’t concerned about looking after their own kind, no, they were single minded, and seemed to care only for one thing: the orders that they’d been given to hunt and recapture any escapees.
The other two split up and ran past their furiously barking canine companion, hiding in the thick undergrowth, trying to scare their target into running into their trap.
They threw noises in different directions, sending out echoes and growls, hoping to disguise their exact location so they could circle round and pounce on her. One of them was going around to the front while the other would try and take her side on, as she tried to get down the steep slope in the darkness, and the tangled, gnarled tree roots and briars.

With both monsters killed, Midnight had a window to escape into the forests and then out into the wider world.
Fortunately for her, or perhaps unfortunately, there were a couple of members of the Hoofed Tribe (Number 11) from their savannah territory in Purri, who had travelled to the areas around the scientist's compound in search of new members for their tribe.
Every tribe did it occasionally; sent out a 'rescue party' to see if they could get some new blood in the form of escaped prisoners of the scientists.
Some posted scouts to report back any news of recent escapees, and others just went the whole hog and sent in attack teams to break in and 'steal' a couple. This meant they risked getting caught themselves, which caused quite a bit of uproar.
With members of the hoofed tribe living in three seperate territories on the map: the savannah, a small bit of the large forest near the humans town and the grassy meadows and plains just outside of the human's tribe, they were a bit thinly spread on the ground.
Tonight, there was a sheep boy with curly white hair and soft sheep's ears instead of human's ears, and two of his friends; a boar, who really looked like a normal girl apart from the dark stripes marking her sides and her dark brown hair and eye colour, and a horse taur, who had the body of a horse halfway, and the rest of him was human from the waist up; in other words; a centaur.
"Do you think all these monsters running around means there's been a breakout, guys?" whispered the sheep, Riven, nudging Bess in the side excitedly.
The boar girl snorted at him and gave hima playful shove back "Keep your voice down, Riv, one of them's going to hear us! I don't know. But I heard something that sounded like injured monsters further up the mountain. Sounded like someone killed a couple" she shook her long chocolate hair from her eyes with a smirk. "Good on them!"
"Don't get your hopes up. We'll probably never find them in this forest with all this racket going on. Wait till it's calmed down a bit" Mendal spoke quietly and steadily, his eyes searching the woods, pawing at the ground gently.

The sheep’s sensitive woolly ears flipped up, catching the unmistakable sounds of something big crashing through the forest.
“Oh, someone’s coming this way. Can you hear that!” he bounced in place excitedly, receiving another whap round the ears from Bess. “Shh! How many times do we have to say; be quiet!” It would seem this was the sheep’s first venture away from his village, though he was clearly dressed as a trained scout.
Tiptoeing forwards, the boar girl began to head silently towards the sounds, her steps muffled by the covering of dead leaves. “Ahh…I see someone” she whispered to herself, silently signalling to her two companions to get their attention.
Normally the monsters were noisy, but they weren’t that careless, snapping twigs and crunching around so blatantly. They could be eerily quiet when they wanted to as well. But it sounded like some of them had turned on their creators again and were attacking the humans. In turn, some of them had started to attack the others, and it had all dissolved into one big mess. No wonder there was so many subjects escaping. Midnight and the Fer de Lance couldn’t be the only ones to take advantage of the opportunities.
As the sounds of whoever was approaching drew nearer, they changed and slowed down, almost as if the person was tired, hurt or maybe just clumsy.
Looking where Bess signalled, the others’ gazes alighted upon her; a figure wandering, searching around for something.
Mendal sniffed the air and his silver horse tail swished nervously. “I detect the scent of blood. They seem injured” He whispered, swiping strands of wild, dappled hair from his eyes to peer into the dim forest, but keeping out of sight of the escaped one.
Riven, however, had a different reaction. If they were hurt, they had to help them! Stepping towards the were-bear, he made sounds to get her attention, waving a hand “Psst! Hey, hey, over here! What tribe are you from?” he called softly.
“Riven, get back here!” “What are you doing, cotton brains?!” his companions were none too pleased.
