"Wow! Shibusen! It's huge, huh?"
Mai Lee stood outside of Shibusen, just a few feet away from its entrance doors. Already her stomach recoiled, feeling anxious about even looking at it. It seemed so prestigious, and in a way it was. If you didn't have a magical spirit element to you, you couldn't get in. If you couldn't gain such an element while you stayed there, you were turned away and essentially"kicked-out"; as her friends put it.
"Eh? What's wrong Mai? Are you scared?"
Voy grinned at her, bending down to become a bit below her eye level before shoving her in the side with his elbow. She frowned and looked at the ground, using one hand to rub her side. "Hey, come off it Voy." On the other side stood Cyan, who had reached over Mai's head and had given his friend a good slap on the skull.

But Voy was right, she was scared. Never before did she think she had any sort of element to offer to anybody, but when her friends signed up she just wanted to join them.

Voy had now placed a hand onto the back of his head, rubbing it while giving a slight snarl in Cyan's direction. Both of them were tall, taller than Mai Lee, but even though they shared the similarity of height their personalities were far apart.
Voy walked on the wild side, not caring to much about dress-codes; or ethnics for that much. Cyan, on the other hand, always dressed perfectly, as if he was going to some sort of function.
One was wild, the other calm, two halves of the same coin. Unfortunately for Mai Lee there was no room for her on the currency.

"Let's just go in, it's the first day of class anyways. I'm sure it'll be an introductory part anyways." Cyan had taken back his hand, putting it under his other arms elbow, and began waving it to accentuate his sentence. "What? Bullcrap, how boring. I bet it'll be fighting!" He threw an excited fist into the air before stopping off, cowboy style, into the direction of the school.
Cyan had shaking his head, sighing as he had pushed up the middle rim of his glasses with one finger, he too taking off to follow. "Don't forget us!"

For a moment Mai Lee stood there, watching her depart before her and for some reason her heart ached as if she would feel this feeling again. No doubt the headmaster would tell her to leave, she couldn't fight, she wasn't fast and there was nothing else she was rather good at.

"Come on Mai Lee! Hurry up!"
Both of her friends had turned around, Voy sticking out his tongue and making revolting faces at her while Cyan sighed, glancing at Voy and then grinning at her.

And just like that she was off.

Cyan. Mai Lee. Voy.
They sat in a class room in that order, their faces directed to the chalkboard. Voy had tried to be distracting, making a fool out of himself and telling jokes; and while it worked on Cyan, it didn't seem to work on her. All Mai could do was stare at the paper before her.

How could such three simple things seem so awful?

Mai Lee sat there at the elongated desk, starring at the piece of paper for a long time, and with each passing moment her stomach only quaked more.

"Alright! Listen up!"

Mai Lee's attention snapped forward, her chin lifting up into the air as her eyes focused onto the teacher.
He was fairly tall, his clothes didn't look that of a teacher but his attitude was. The man wore a sickening grin on his face, a mixture between excitement and sadistic feelings. "My name's Black Star, and I'm going to be introducing you here on the basics."
He had waltzed over to the chalkboard, sprawling out his signature on it before slapping the board in a just manner. Then Black Star waddled over to his desk.

For a minute Mai Lee stared at him, wondering what he was doing as her eyebrows scrunched up a bit in confusion.
The teacher was starring at a paper that every student had out on their desk, but it seemed as if he couldn't understand on the lesson; maybe he had not been briefed on it?

In a slight temper tantrum he had grabbed the paper and ripped it up, throwing the confetti above his head and letting it fall down around him. "Alright, first thing's first. Combat training."

Next to her Voy had grinned in satisfaction, throwing his fist into the palm of his hand.

This had obviously captured Black Stars attention, because now he had pointed a wrapped finger at Voy. "Hey! Come down here!"
Voy didn't waste a second, he had hopped over his desk, using one hand as leverage to fling him over the tables that were before him. Voy landed safely in front of the class, grinning all the while. "Well, let's start with introductions." Black Star rubbed his chin, nodding to his own commandment as he agreed with himself in a satisfactory way.

"My name's Voy!" Excitedly he threw out his own fist, punching the air straight forward. Meanwhile, Mai Lee had begun ignoring his gestures, gathering up the paper work he had left behind at his station to keep herself occupied.

Black Star must have seen this too, because before she knew it he was calling on her. "Hey, you. Is my class boring you? Why don't you come down here then?"

This made Mai's spine go straight, her back became erect as her cheeks grew crimson. "Y-Yes, Sir!" Awkwardly Mai Lee stood up, knocking down the papers that she had gathered onto the people before her. "I-I'm sorry, I didn't mean to--"
"Come on, we haven't gotten all day!"

Mai Lee stopped trying to apologize, awkwardly turning and walking out of her row of desks down to the front. "Ah, um, I am Mai Lee." She bowed, before Voy had smacked her on the back, which made her stand up once again and hit her own forehead in embarrassment.

"Alright, now we're going to have a test and talk about what I expect from you as students." Suddenly Black Star had grown more serious. Mai Lee's stomach bounced for a second, and then her and Voy moved apart, their intstructions were to stand at the opposite sides of the room.

"We'll talk about strength. Everyone in this room has it, you just need to bring it out of yourself, when you do this you get stronger; and this will also make your weapon stronger."

Mai Lee had brought her attention to Voy's shoes, starring at them and nothing else while Black Star talked. Once again her stomach flipped, all this time she had been thinking about herself, the thought of a partner never floated into her head. Who would want to work with her?

"Right now, I want you to show me strength. Consider this a battle. And fight."

Mai's head shot up, looking straight at Black Star as she waved her tiny hands in front of her body. "W-What? B-But I can't fi--"
"RAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!"
But before she could get the words out of her mouth Voy was charging at her. Although he held no form, at least he attacked.
He ran at her, a fist pulled back, to which only made her heart pound faster. Mai Lee closed her eyes shut, mentally preparing herself for Voy's attack.

He jumped her, smashing her body down onto the floor. The sudden contact made her squeal and open her eyes back up, and made the hem of her dress lift up slightly. But now he just laid on top of her, laughing at her reaction.

Voy pulled himself up, sitting up and criss-crossing his legs as he held his stomach; one single finger pointed at her as he almost doubled over in histeria. "The look on your face!"

Mai Lee's whole face grew hot and red, her eyes once again settled on the vision of Voy's feet. "You idiot! I hate you!" She lifted one hand, clenching it into a fist as she steadily beat his arm; sure it wasn't hard, he didn't even look at her while she did it, but it was all she felt like she could do.

Another excruciating forty minutes later she was free, and Voy was still laughing at her.
She slunked out of the class, feeling low and humiliated.
"Bhahah! Priceless! That was priceless!"

The end of class had signled their lunch, and now she took this time to wander off. Leaving her two friends when they had begun their own fight.
"Alright Voy that's enough, she already feels bad."
Bhaha! Today was too good to be true! Bhahah!"

Mai Lee left them with a sigh, shoulders down-turned as she slunked off. If there was anywhere she could learn to get stronger, where would it be? P.E. was her next class, but she wanted to at least learn something at the moment. If she couldn't fight, maybe there was something else that pertained to her forte.
So she wandered into the Shibusen library.

Mai Lee scanned several books, looking at the titles. There must something she was good at, something that didn't involve fighting.
"Hey, there you are."
Cyan had walked into the library and found her standing before a bookshelf, "We got your lunch for you."
"Oh, thank you." Mai Lee looked at him and then sighed, still feeling sour. "Hey, you're here for a reason right? Don't sweat it."

Mai Lee nodded at him, her body now turned facing him but she took a glance at the bookshelf. "What else are meister's supposed to do?" Her sentence sounded wrong, and she knew this would irk him, but apparently he pushed past it and fixed his glasses. "I hear that some can see souls, you know, souls of other meisters and even weapons."
Mai Lee raised her eyerbrows, still looking at the shelf that stood before her. If she could at least do that, then they would most definitely let her stay.

"Well, Voy and I will be outside, near the track. We'll wait for you ok."
Mai Lee turned back to him, nodding furiously as the highvpoints of her cheeks turned pink.
Once he left she looked back at the bookshelf, scanning it for anything on soul scanning; but so far she wasn't seeing anything.

Mai had once again occupied herself with the bookshelf, scanning each title for something on soul searching. But she couldn't find anything on the matter.
Suddenly she heard a voice, Mai turned around, stop looking at the books titles on the shelf. For a second her heart clamored.
"I-I'm Mai Lee!"
Mai looked at the boy for a moment, she never noticed him before; but then again all she had been worried about was herself.

Mai's heart jumped, she was making a new friend! Every cloud really did have a silver lining.
"Ah! Yes! I am new, as are you right?" Mai Lee blinked before reaching down to shake his hand, which she didn't let go for several seconds while she talked. "I'm here to try to be a meister," the sentence had struct a cord in her and she stopped shaking his hand, that was the moment when she realized she had still holden onto it.
"Oh, I'm sorry." Her apology seemed flat because that's how she felt at that moment, suddenly her mind remembered her fault; she had nothing to give in order to become meister.

Mai Lee sort of looked down on the floor before awkwardly putting her hand on the back of her head, as if to rub her painful memory away. "Ah, lunch is almost over. My next class is on the other side of the school, so thank you." Mai looked at her wrist, no watch was on it but she went on anyways, giving him a quick smile before turning around and walking off.

"Oh! Yes, okay." Mai smiled, on the verge of grinning.
Mai Lee was excited, until it had become silent for a moment. She frowned and her lip curled a bit in dissatisfaction. "Oh, um, whe--" "Mai Lee!"

Suddenly she was ambushed, Voy's arm had hooked around her neck and pulled her close, causing her to stop walking. "W-What?" Her cheeks turned red, becoming embarrassed at her friend who was good at making both of them look like fools. "Huh, who's this?" Voy had pointed a finger at Mai's new friend, his mouth gaping a bit. "Ah, um, this is Joel. It's his first year too." Mai Lee's hand had gone up to Voy's arm, trying to coax it off of her without pulling it.

A second later Cyan had ran up, sighing and panting from running. Once he caught his breath he stood up and pushed up his glasses, holding up a hand. "I'm Cyan Adele, this is Voy Burns."

Mai Lee's cheeks turned red, and Voy's mouth gaped open wider. "Huh? Who is he? 'Prince Charming'?" Mai's body pulled away, so now she was looking at his face from a two feet distance. "H-Hey, let go of me you idiot."
"Indeed. Let's go, we'll be late if we keep standing around."

Voy finally let go of Mai Lee, giving her a shove in the direction toward their P.E. class, he also stuck his tongue out in the back of Joel's direction; something that Mai Lee choose to ignore.
"Did you hear that there's going to be a party?" The group walked past the lockers, toward the outside. Cyan grabbed a flyer off of a nearby locker, looking at it. On it was a picture of Shinigami-sama, his arms outwardly stretched as he grinned happily.

Voy snatched it out of Cyan's hands, "Oh yeah, I forgot all about finding a partner." Mai Lee turned her head and looked at Voy, "What? That's one of the most important parts. You're a weapon Voy, you need a partner." Mai Lee stuck out a finger as 'matter-of-factly', and Cyan only nodded in agreement. "Well I thought I'd partner up with one of you," Voy put both hands behind his head and shrugged. "Whatever, let's go to P.E."
