The Hartlands

Whitemoon Glen - Maya and her court live here. The safest place in all the Hartlands, a beautiful green clearing surrounded by trees and moss covered stones. In the deepest part of the Glen lay the granite tablets where Herla Law is carved for any to see. (More Info Coming Soon!)

Fields and Meadow Lake - Where most Herla live, lots of separate herds and familial groups. Fairly safe, lots of space to roam and food to eat. Mostly flat grassland with a few streams that feed into Meadow Lake from melting snow in the Icefall Mountains. There are trees here and there. (More Info Coming Soon!)

Deep Forest
- A wide stretch of forest between Whitemoon Glen and the Icefall Mountains. These woods would take a few days to cross, and the farther in you go, the more dangerous they become. The vegetation in the Deep Forest varies from smaller trees and shrubs in some areas to massive redwoods in others. The forest is dotted with clearings here and there, but for the most part is a thick, menacing wood. Several Herla live in the Deep Forest despite the constant threat of wolves and the occasional sabercat. (More Info Coming Soon!)

Icefall Mountains
- These massive mountain range is lightly wooded at their base and small valleys hide amount the cliffs and waterfalls. Several creatures live here, most notably a large number of Mountain Herla. It is believed that Gotlings originally came from the Icefall Mountains, but it has not been proven. Though the lower mountains are well lived (there is even a small Mountain Herla encampment nestled in a small basin), the upper reaches of the Icefall Mountains become ever more treacherous and unforgiving. Passing over this range through the ice and snow is nearly impossible, and should not be attempted unless there is no other choice. (More Info Coming Soon!)

Balm - Near the base of the Icefall Mountains there is a worn down and broken road that follows the path of the Willow River. This road was once a creation of man, but it has crumbles and nature has reclaimed it. The road curves and meanders through cliffs and boulders and eventually leads to the Herla Encampment known as Balm. Balm was once a small mountain resort, but now it's decaying cabins offer shelter to the deer that live there and the rusted over automobiles offer an excellent place for fawns to play. Despite it's small size and rustic atmosphere, Balm was once the prime gathering place of the Mountain Clan before they joined the Forest Herla and the kingdom of the Hartlands. Now it is the primary home of the Broken Fang Herd, though any and all comers are welcome as long as they keep the peace. (More Info Coming Soon!)

The Delta and the Marshlands - As the Willow River ventures farther from the Icefang Mountains, it branches apart into several smaller streams and creeks. Close to the ocean, the small rivulets of water spread to form the Delta, an area full of sandbars, reeds, trickling water and small scurrying crustaceans. Though the Delta itself is clean, clear and free of most threats, the marsh to the north is a place of swarming insects, peat moss, twisted trees and sucking mud pits. The Delta is the main homeland of the Delta Herla, though a large number of them also inhabit the marshlands. (More Info Coming Soon!)

Soft Shell Island - Near the center of the Delta is a large section of land that rises about the waters and is shielded by trees, small bushes and reeds. Small pools with a variety of aquatic creatures speckle the sandy beaches. Short grasses, sand and smooth river rocks are everywhere as well as small birds, dragonflies and a myriad of butterflies. Many herds in the Delta use this place, called Soft Shell Island, as a place of comfort and safety. The Softshell Herd guard the island and have vowed to protect and nurture any who wish to stay. (More Info Coming Soon!)
