Bio: Marcus lives with his father on his farm, spending his days working. Nominally, the village is under the control of the local Lord and Lady, but it mostly governs itself. Marcus enjoys his quiet life, as not much happens when one tends sheep. Bio: Kate grew up learning that it was her duty to protect herself and family and that those lower than her came second. She was taught to be quiet like a proper lady. She lived a life of luxury, rarely going out of the castle she lived in. Her mother and father fell ill recently and she is expected to take over rule soon. Kate kicked the horse she was ridding a little so it would go faster. Behind her was a group of tough men with swords. She wished that she could've gone on her own, but she knew that it was impossible. Kate stopped her horse suddenly and ignored the shouts of the men from behind her who were trying to get their horse under control. Kate got off the horse and turned around before walking away. The people would take care of the horse and if they didn't, she didn't really care. Her parents would just buy another one. Kate walked around in the woods and scanned the area with dull and empty eyes. She was bored and wanted something to do.

Marcus trotted lightly through the forest, hunting dog at his side. His bow was at half draw as he peered through the trees. The dog found a scent, which it sounded out with a bark. It headed off through the trees, and Marcus followed as best he could. He soon saw the tracks the dog was following, those of a large buck. Marcus smiled, adjusting his grip on the bow. If he could bring it down, he and his father would eat well for at least a week. He could hear the clatter of hooves ahead, and pushed himself to more speed.

Kate walked along for a while, listening to the clatter of the hooves belonging to the horses that where carrying the people who were there to protect her. She didn't pay attention to where she was walking because if she got lost that meant she would be able to live a carefree life without having to pretend to be who she wasn't. Kate wasn't paying attention when she saw a dog and a guy who looked a little older then her. She froze when she saw that he had a bow with an arrow and watched him. The men sent to protect her where a little bit behind her and couldn't see the boy. Kate's first instinct was to scream, but when she saw how handsome the guy was she stopped herself.

When the clatter of hooves was close, Marcus slowed down. Looking about, he saw a girl, perhaps his age or younger, watching him. He slackened hi grip on his bow, letting the string slacken as well. He replaced the arrow in his quiver, watching the girl as he did. He whistled to Jericho. He would rather keep his father's prized hound in sight. "It is dangerous to be alone in this wilderness. I assume those horses I hear are an escort, of some kind? Because if they were not, and they were bothering such a nice looking girl, then I might be inclined to put a few arrows in them." Marcus didn't quite understand why he said what he did, but somewhere in his mind, they made sense.

Kate looked at Marcus for a moment without speaking. She had been told by her parents to not talk to those beneath her, but once she remembered that soon she'd be the one in charge, she found her voice. "They're an escort. Th- Thank you for your.... concern." Kate said quietly. When the people came into view of Marcus and Kate the one in the lead put a hand on his sword and glared at Marcus from behind. Kate looked back at them with soft eyes and said, "It's alright." Kate then turned back to Marcus and studied him for a moment. "Did we make you lose the thing you were hunting?" Kate said without thinking.

Marcus ignored the girl's hesitation. Some people just didn't like to talk. "I had thought I was after a buck, but it turned out to just be your escort." Thinking about it, Marcus wondered what kind of young woman that needed an escort would be all the way out here. Her studied her for a moment, taking in her fine clothes. "Oh dear... I fear I may have been a bit too forward with you, my Lady. I should go now, before your escort catches up and takes an unfavorable opinion of a certain young shepard." He turned to leave, but Jericho had just returned. The dog sniffed at the girls ankles, panting and wagging his tail.

Kate looked at Marcus for a while and when he started acting different after realizing who she was she frowned. Kate was about to turn around and walk away when the dog sniffed at her ankles. Kate looked at it for a moment. She wanted to pet it and rub it's belly, but instead she turned away and held her head up high. "Hmph." Kate said in a arrogant way before starting to walk away. She had to keep herself distanced from those under her and show them that she was in charge.

Marcus sighed as he walked away, once again nocking an arrow. Jericho followed eventually, ready to return to the hunt as well. I have to find something. Won't go hungry just because some noble's crazy daughter interrupted my hunt. He soon resumed a light jog, searching again for tracks as he followed behind his dog. It might be a while before he found anything, with that loud bunch of guards around.

Kate got on her horse and rode away. The guards left with her. She went back to the small castle she lived at since her family was the head noble family. Kate dismounted and walked back into the castle. The guards would put away the horse. Kate sighed softly and then thought back to the boy. She wanted to go back and see him again. She couldn't help, but feel drawn to him. Kate looked around before going to her room quickly.

Marcus, having quickly retreived a large buck, headed for home. The kill was slung across his shoulders, and Jericho followed on his heels. He and his family would eat well for the next few days. As he walked, his mind kept wandering back to the girl he had met earlier. She had been polite enough, until he had recognized her as a noble. She was probably the daughter of those who 'ruled' his little viallge.

Kate looked around in her room. She didn't know why, but she was getting bored in her room. A maid knocked on the door before coming in to give her her food. "I'm very sorry Ms. Kate, but your parents requested for me to bring your food to you." The maid said before leaving quickly. Kate gave her a nod before taking her food and eating it quietly. She was used to eating on her own by now. Afterwards Kate left the tray that her food had come on outside of her room and went to sleep. She was tired.

Marcus returned home to see his father standing on the hill, chocking on the sheep as he did every evening. "Evening, dad. Got a big one this time!" Marcus called out.
"Well done, but you look tired. There's some tea and soup on the stove. Get you some and the rest. I'll take care of the buck." Thom, Marcus' father, joined the boy as he headed inside. Marcus handed the buck over to his father so that he could eat. He finished the soup quickly, and headed off to his small room to sleep for the night.

Kate woke up early in the morning and found that she couldn't go back to sleep. Kate really wanted to go somewhere without 5 guys following her with weapons. Kate looked at her clothes and grabbed her cloak which had a big hood on it. Kate then changed into her cheapest clothes, even though it was still easy to tell she was a noble, and jumped out the window. Kate was glad that she was on the first floor. Kate with took off into the bushes without being noticed. The hood hid her head completely and covered up her clothes. Kate then ran off toward the forest that she had met Marcus in.

Marcus rose with the sun, heading to his usual spot. Once there, he sat against a tree, watching the sheep below him on the hill. He and his father only hunted enough to sustain themselves, and otherwise stuck with their sheep. They had a small garden as well, but nothing that too much work as far as farming went. Thom dropped off the buck hide and leather awl a few minutes later, mentioning that winter was coming, and that Marcus' old winter boots no longer fit him. With that, Marcus set to work, keeping an eye on the sheep.
