Got ImageReady and don't know how the heck to animate with it? Hopefully, you'll learn how after reading through this tutorial.

(NOTE: The screenshots are in .PNG format which means it's in very good quality and the files sizes are a little high sweatdrop .)

1. Well, you get yourself a purdy banner or something first. Then open it in ImageReady. (I'm using ImageReady 7.0)
User Image
I want to animate the squares here.

2. Click the visibility icons (the one that looks like an eye) next to the layers you don't want seen in the first frame.
User Image

3. In the Animations window (Window > Animation) click a new frame using the button encircled below.
User Image

4. Make the first square invisible and the second square visible by clicking on the Visibility icons I told you about.
User Image

5. Create anther frame...
User Image

... and switch the visibilities again.
User Image

6. You pretty much get the whole process now...
User Image

7. Set the timing of each frame if it's animating too fast for you.
User Image

8. Now go to File > Save Optimized As... (do not confuse it with "Save As...") and save your image as a .gif file.

This is what mine looked like:

Tween Animation

1. Okay, first we need a banner and something to animate. I'm using the squares again.
User Image

2. Make 2-3 squares visible and the other squares invisible and set the opacity of each visible square.
User Image
I used:
square - 100%
square copy - 50%
square copy 2 - 20%

3. Create a new frame in the Animation window.
User Image

4. In the new frame, make another square visible and set the opacity again.
User Image
I used:
square - 50%
square copy - 100%
square copy 2 - 50%
square copy 3 - 20%

5. Now we introduce a new button.
User Image

6. While the first frame is selected, click it and use the following settings:
User Image
Or set the "Frames to Add" to a higher or lower number depending on how fast or slow you want the animation.

7. Create a new frame...
User Image

8. And set the opacity again...
User Image

9. And use the tween button again.
User Image

10. You'll end up with a lot of frames. ^^;
User Image

11. Click File > Save Optimized As... and save it as a .gif file.

I made this from the help of your tutorial: just a simple animation with text (though it took me a while to figure out how to make the animation go on forever... sweatdrop )

Please post another tutorial on how to spiffify the animations? 3nodding

i doubt the images kill many people now, dialup is on the decline, and high speed is taking over. so animated gifs arent the problem today they they were back in the days of the 14.4 modems. if anyone even remembers those days..
