Someday, I will own all of the kin. NOTES: I'm only questing one at a time, but I'm making this a sort of to-do list. Hope that's alright. Also, the names on all but the current section are probably not final! Chances are that's just the filename I gave it way back when.

QUEST 3: WATER UNDERGROUND
aspacingwewillgoREFS: haha wow lemme just. draw something
aspacingwewillgoLOOKS: A double-stripe of some sort, predominantly blue but possibly also brown, with bubble-like glowing lines on the neck and wavy horizontal stripes on the tail. Maaaybe a zikwa? Maybe butch?
aspacingwewillgoABOUT: River is being reworked here,
aspacingwewillgoDREAM: Running, running, running through a dizzying expanse of darkness bounded by cold stone. The clatter of her hooves on the surface below is the only sound, and the occasions when she passes out from exhaustion are the only things that mark the passage of time. It lasts this way for untold ages, this endless cycle of purposeless running and exhaustion, where hunger gnaws like a crocodile and thirst parches like the long-forgotten sun.
Then, one time she wakes, she hears a new sound. A wonderful sound. The most beautiful sound in the world.
drip.
plip.
Water.
Shakily getting to her feet, the doe totters in the direction of the sound, then walks, then trots, then runs. Even above the echoing cacophony of her hooves she hears it, the dripping of water into water. She follows it through twists and turns and bends and curves, and at least one long, sliding fall. At last, she sees -
She sees again at last, after an eternity of darkness. SIGHT! LIGHT! And around the last bend, WATER! Beautiful water, that glows with a strange cold light. The stone of the pool is colored in rings of green and blue and purple, and the water itself is clear, teeming with tiny silver fish, and glowing brightly white. Overcome with emotion, the doe kneels at the edge, weeping. As her tears intermingle with the water, she lowers her head to drink. The water is hard, laden with strange flavors and minerals, but cool. First she sips, then the slurps, then she gulps, slaking her thirst.
She does not notice when the fish flee. She does not see the dark shadow slipping up from the depths of the pool, not until it has wrapped one strong tendril around her neck to drag her down. She fights with all she has left, and fights more, but she's too weak, too weak, and she's taken down, taken down into the bright water.
As she exhales the last of her stale breath, her lungs and neck burn from lack of air and constriction. The bubbles that issue from her lips are full of light.
