I just got active on Gaia again after a long LONG time away from it..

I wanted to get back into the RPs here, because it's just fun stuff.. then I see "Pretty post required" or even the passive "pretty posts highly preferred".

Am I the only person behind on this?

I mean, I forgo perfectly fun sounding RPs simply because I don't want to have to bother formatting my posts every time I want to post a reply. It seems like such a hassle really..

Does anyone else do that?

Really people like to be able to see more to a post, I think.

Like I like how people post their character's pic within their post so I don't have to scroll through profiles to actually see their pic in the first place. Plus I love making the posts as well since its nice to be creative

The only hassle is the creating the post style, really. After that you can simply quote the post and go from there. Not that bad *shrugs*

But, hey, it is unfair that rps are making it a requirement, I mean not everyone wants to *shrugs*

All i can say is maybe you should just try adding a pic or changing the font color to something you don't see every day--that way you can get into rps.

I don't know, it just seems silly to me. I never got a kick out of hunting for pictures of people who look like my character (or are my character), nor do I think adding song lyrics or quotes to the sides of my post make it any more interesting..

It's not that I just plain don't want to (well, I don't want to, but that's not the main issue). The thing is, while I have a really new computer, my internet is really bad connection-wise. I live in the country so I have to get Hughesnet.. Which means that my pages don't load very quickly, on really bad days it can take more than five minutes to load a simple text page.. Having all the graphics just makes it take even longer, so I guess I'm biased.

Or maybe I'm an old fogey more used to having to describe the features of a character rather than having a reference pic..

It's mostly for aesthetic then practicality, I believe. My usually design layouts could just be typed out and it'd be fine with most. But I also believe that people ask for "Pretty post" to help tell the difference between posters while on the reply screen; the small names and systematic text can make everything look the same, and sometimes, posting mistakes will occur. I mean, if everyone wrote in black text with "quotations" the only form of speaking, things may start to get confusing. Granted, giant complicated formats never fit well with me either, but some people like to be different.

In summary; it's to identify various Role-Players while making a response.
