I don't have a problem with the idea of this thread. Dig up old posts that were pretty entertaining? Sounds like it could be a lot of fun.

But a member complaining about a rape joke because she'd been raped and it hit too close to home? Not memorable, and certainly not funny. I know some of you guys find rape jokes to be hilarious, but there's a difference between disagreeing with someone about a joke and singling someone out to be laughed at because they were raped.

I'm incredibly disappointed that I have to point this out. I know the Cult is better than this.

if i saw that my reply should been, you've never been an altar boy then have you?

@zeph: i find it too convenient that 1. we have a chick in our guild and 2. she was raped, 3/4 women are raped, that may be true, but its not like men aren't raped either, some dont even realize it cause it was at a young age, i can get all down and depressing for no reason other than to look like im righteously defending a group i may or may not be apart of.

Her statistics are bogus, it's more like 1/6 women have been part of at least attempted rape. Plus, 10% of rape victims are men.

While I think it's in bad taste to make fun of that girl, she does seem like a self-entitled b***h.

The statistic is ev en more sewed by the fact that while it is likely that there are people in both genders who won't report rape out of shame. Men are probably more likely to feel ashamed, I think we might agree.

There's a difference between laughing about rape and laughing at someone who has been raped. Understanding that is crucial.

well that seems pretty much settled, we got

1. person was self entitled b***h

2. bogus stastics (though 99% of all statistics are bogus)

3. men CAN be raped

4. we were laughing at rape itself not victims

so we win the argument.
