Note tacked to room door
Snot Advancement Exam

Venue: Classroom 13
Time: 7am, upcoming Tombday

*Please be punctual; latecomers will not be allowed to participate.

[OOC: This means that if you did not post in at least once within 48 hours from the time of summon, I have the right to remove you from this exam and put you in a solo exam! Don't worry, it's not a permanent DQ!]

Professor Malcolm

PostPosted: Thu Dec 08, 2011 1:00 am
Malcolm had held the exact same exam for a couple of students the previous day, and in his rush, could not get the classroom ready for a new exam. Instead, he did some cleaning up and decided to reuse the course in order to shorten the waiting list for the students.

"To pass, get from one end of the room to the other," He pointed at the other side of the classroom, like he had done before, "With the boat still intact. If you sink, you fail as well... Just get to the side and pull yourself out of the water if you find yourself shipwrecked. Can't swim? Here's a great time to learn! Don't worry, I guess I won't allow you to drown... Good luck!"

He then started to walk towards the finish line, leaving the students to pick a boat and start rowing.

Exam Mechanics
Every time you roll a dice for something, it is considered a 'turn'. Once you hit 7 failed turns/rolls, you failed! ICly, this means the boat either sunk or fell apart!

Remember: To pass, you need at least 5 successful rolls, no need for them to be in consecutive order! As long as you get 5 successful rolls before the 7 failed rolls, it means you got to the finishing line with the boat still intact!

Normal: 1d10
1 - 2: You somehow managed to row past all the traps! Success!
----3: You rowed straight into a trap... Fail sauce.
4 - 5: You somehow managed to row past all the traps! Success!
6 - 7: You rowed straight into a trap... Fail sauce.
----8: You dragged someone into a trap with you... Super fail sauce. Quote the person who posted RIGHT BEFORE YOUR POST(S), and rp it out! That person will be trapped too!
----9: You rowed straight into a trap... Fail sauce.
---10: You somehow managed to row past all the traps! Success!

Trapped: 1d6
Even : You freed yourself! Yay! This is NOT considered a 'successful' roll and will not count towards the 5 you need to pass!
Odd : You are still trapped... This is considered a 'fail' roll!
-> You only roll ONCE; for example, if you fail roll once, assume damage was done to the boat and then you got free; so there is no need to roll again and again and again till you get an even number! Thus, you you fell into a trap, and rolled odd (fail roll), that's just 2 fail rolls!

Description of traps: For IC purposes! Pick one if you roll a trap!
-> T-tentacles?!
-> Whirlpools
-> Fishing nets
-> Sharks circling you with the JAWS theme playing in the background (Don't ask why)
-> ... Are those planks of wood that look suspiciously like a boat that had been torn apart?

Student Name: Sparrow Heartreed

You may start the exam whenever.
-> Please remember to put the number of fails at the bottom of your post! [Example: Fail rolls 2/7]
-> Also put the number of successes! [Example: Successful rolls 3/5]

ICly, this took place the day after the previous exam (Group 5)!

Those two pieces of information are very important! Also, do not post your character up for arts till this exam is officially over; aka until I make a GM post about it!

It was here. The day of his exam.

Sparrow was freaking out just the slightest bit.

He couldn't really tell anyone this, of course - after all, he was already still as jittery as jittery could be, considering he had been trying to figure out just what his exam would consist of. Rumors had been flying back and forth from the various upper year students, and for some strange reason, none of them had really sounded like anything Sparrow could study for. And for a boil who prided himself on his abilities as a scholar -

He was doomed.

Which meant when the actual summons came, it took quite a bit of convincing on Sparrow's part to not have a heart attack.

Then he felt ridiculous for getting so worked up over the whole thing and arrived at the office of one Professor Malcom with a look of weariness and mild consternation. And his face fell further when he realized he would have to...get across...to the other side...of the room.

In a boat.

Through eel-infested water water that held who knew what.

What kind of exam was this, anyway.

With a sigh, Sparrow climbed into the nearest one, wobbling unsteadily in it. Settling rather pathetically into it and feeling somewhat squashed, he pushed off from one side and began the slow trek to the other side.

Fortunately, the first few yards went without any sort of incident.

Though how long that would last was another story.

So far, so good...

It was, perhaps, a good thing Sparrow did not really get seasick. Or was afraid of water, for that matter.

He just hoped he wouldn't run into anything...unseemly while out here...

...in open water. During an exam.

AND SUDDENLY TENTACLES EVERYWHERE.

There was a rather undignified squawking sound, a yelp, and then a splash as Sparrow's hand accidentally missed the side of the boat as he grappled for it, instead grabbing a handful of cold water and soaking his glove completely.

"What the Jack - "

It took Sparrow quite a bit of struggling and flailing to get free of the tentacles (they looked suspiciously purple and familiar somehow...), and when he finally managed to squeeze out of the trap, his hair was completely skewampus and his clothes were disheveled.

And he was soaking.

No sooner was Sparrow free from the first trap that he wound up right back in another.

Except this time it was sharks.

And there was some very strange music playing...

What had started off as a relatively quiet exam had turned...

Not so quiet.

Wet and shivering, Sparrow carefully maneuvered his battered little boat through the waters, squinting at the far off opposite side of the room. He'd never had a class with Professor Malcom before, but now he was wondering what the Jack he taught, exactly...

Sparrow decided, while attempting to dodge the whirlpools in the next area, that he did not like this exam at all.

But at least this time he managed to get away without causing too much more damage to his already pathetic looking boat.

For some reason, a song kept popping into Sparrow's head.

Just keep swimming, just keep swimming...

The little boat wobbled through the water, Sparrow hunched protectively over it as though that would keep him from running into any more...obstacles.
