It was the day after the morning they'd all awoken from the Trial of Death.

Moure needed to check on his team-mates. Out of the boils, Roch was the one Moure knew the best. And Roch would probably know how the others were doing, so he figured the reaper would be a good choice. Plus, he'd seen Roch go, seen the other boil escape and then get caught again, and finally weaponized. There was no way Roch would know he wasn't the only one weaponized then, though. For some reason, it just seemed...well, just, to tell the reaper that he himself had suffered the same fate.

As such, Moure found himself making his way through the reaper dorms, finding Roch's door with some ease. It wasn't the first time he'd shown up here, after all. After a moment, he gave a quick knock on the door.

Maybe the reaper was out doing the same thing as Moure, actually. As such, If Roch was out, Moure would just have to catch him some other time.

The doorknob turned and Riff looked out at the patchwork boil curiously before letting the door swing open. The faint sound of snoring came from the bed, where the punk boil seemed to be having a nap. He was wearing pants, but that was all. Somehow the room smelled... pretty.

And it looked like the boil hadn't gotten much sleep the night before. Huh.

Moure waited at the door, and then the knob started to turn. Curiously, Moure glanced down to the equally interested minipet. He'd forgotten that it usually got the door for Roch. When the door swung open, Moure cautiously looked around for the reaper, taking a few steps inside so he could search for Roch. Strangely enough though, there was a peculiar, pretty(?) smell coming from somewhere inside the room. He had to be in here if the little fae had let Moure in.

After a few moments, he heard some faint...snoring? He glanced in the direction of Roch's bed, finding the reaper there. Moure's brief moments of sleep had been torn up between nightmares and replays of his weaponization, and as such the patchwork had just decided not to deal with sleeping right now and just crash in a hopefully dreamless sleep later. The non-undead students probably couldn't do that, though, and thus actually had to sleep normally. And it didn't look like the other boil had slept much anyway.

Quietly, Moure turned around, heading back for the door. Unfortunately, his food bumped something, making a faint sound. Hopefully it wouldn't interrupt the reaper's sleep, since the other boil probably needed it (and Moure was vaguely worried that the reaper might think him some kind of room invader and attack in his sleep-cloyed mind. But, you know, that was just a little side thought. Really.).

The guitar was summoned and Roch was sitting up before Moure took another step. Then he calmed. "Yo," he said with a jaw-cracking yawn. "How's it goin?" He stretched his arms over his head and leaned back a bit before getting out of bed and starting to look for his vest. "You know what time it is?" he asked curiously.

Alas, his escape was too slow. Moure turned, ready to duck in case the guitat came swinging toward his head. Fortunately, Roch did so such thing, although the weapon was summoned and ready to use. Moure's hands came up as a way of gesturing, "Don't shoot!" to deter any potential attacks, and then gave a nod when the other relaxed. "Hey. Sorry to wake you up. Your little one let me in..." Moure stood by the door, speaking up again when the reaper addressed some questions to him. "After noon, I think. Why? Were you just taking a nap?" Or had the boil slept all the way through the night and then some? To the other question, Moure nodded. "Better than yesterday, I guess." Which brought him around to his reason for coming, actually.

Moure tipped his chin toward the reaper, speaking again. "What about you? Are you okay? I, well, I saw what happened..." Moure shook his head, trying to supress his own shudder. He didn't fully manage to do so. He'd felt that same pain, that razing, killing pain. He'd felt his fear compressed, felt them destroy him to turn him into something he wasn't.

Roch looked at him, a slight frown on his face. "Y'know? I think I can teach you to fight." He stood, not answering or even thinking of answering the question Moure had asked, standing and heading for the desk. He pulled open a drawer and pulled out a plastic bag full of black balls.

"I was thinkin' about what we need to learn to do, man, and that means you and me need to work on something. C'mon, let's go to the gym." He tossed the bag to the patchwork, revealing the fact that it was heavier than it looked. "And we'll get started."

"What?" Moure asked, catching the sight of whatever Roch was pulling out of his desk. It seemed Roch was trying to push the memories of the events out of his mind, and had to take on an idea they'd always talked about before, but never gotten around to planning. They'd been planning on a teaching spar since the Haunted House, but Moure was still a little surprised by the reaper's sudden realization. "You think so?" Everyone knew Moure was pathetic at hand-to-hand combat.

Maybe he didn't have hand-to-hand combat in mind, though. Judging by the objects Roch had pulled out, they were going to try something else.

Moure nodded, trying to keep up with Roch's sudden train of thought. "Learn to fight? Or do you mean to...what, utilize our talents to survive?" That seemed like the best option, actually. Moure caught the bag, feeling the weight drag down his arm unexpectedly. The black balls were heavier than Moure'd previously thought. Moure paused, processing all this, and then nodded. "Alright, let's go."

It was time to go train then, apparently.

Roch headed for the gym, yawning the entire way. When he got there he headed for his usual section, still yawning as he held out his hand and summoned his guitar.

"Take a handful of those balls, or all of them, and put them in a place you can get to easily," he told the patchwork. "Instead of hitting or kickin', you're gonna throw those--you had a hell of a good shot when you were fighting the kraken, remember? We're gonna work with that."

Moure simply followed along, giving the inside of the gym a slightly wary glance. The last time he'd been in here was when Edel and Danny decided to have a fight. Oddly enough though, that all seemed so silly now. Why had they even been fighting?

Moure looked over to the reaper when he heard the other's suggestion. An eyebrow raised, and he looked back to the bag in his hand. "You sure about this?" While it was true that Moure completely and utterly failed at hand-to-hand combat, the patchwork was strangely good at projectile throwing. Apparently Roch had noticed when Moure had been spearing the kraken's limb during their trial. Huh. "These look like they could hurt...but do you think they'd be effective enough though? I mean, the umbrellas worked on the kraken, but would these work on other things, you think?" You know, against things like Hunters? "You sure you want me to throw them at you?"

Roch took a swing at him, catching him in the side. "You're a long distance fighter, man, you get too close you're gonna get hurt," he told him. "And yeah, you're gonna throw the ball bearings at me. Now let's spar. We'll see how well you do under pressure."

Moure barely had time to pull back, caught rather off guard by Roch's idea of teaching. The guitar still hit him though. "Okay okay! Moving!" Moure said, quickly stepping backward and away from the guitar-wielding reaper.

For some reason, Moure hadn't full expected 'training' to go out like this. He should've known it wouldn't be anything like what he'd expected.

Moure continued to back up, stance ready to bolt at a moment's notice. he fished around in the bag for a ball bearing, pulling it out and judging it's weight in his hand for a moment. His eyes flickered in the reaper's direction, and he lined up his shot. With a determined expression, he flung the ball bearing in the reaper's direction. It would probably barely glance Roch. Moure frowned. He didn't know the heft of these things yet.

The ball bounced off of his FEAR shield, barely making a dent. "Put some FEAR into that throw, boil!" Roch said, changing his hold on the guitar slightly and starting forward. "You gotta hit harder than that."

He took a playful swing at the patchwork, catching his FEAR shield lightly. "And you're too close again."

Moure gave a slight frown, looking down to the bag of ball bearings. How did one go about putting FEAR in that? "I know!" That didn't change the fact that Moure really wasn't a hard hitter. That was probably his problem, really.

And then came the guitar again. "I noticed." He said with a slight grunt as the guitar smacked into him. Quickly, he took a few more steps back, and then spun on his heel and ran a bit further. "Better?" Hopefully this would be a better range.

Moure pulled out another ball bearing, weighing it in his hand again. Maybe he was using the wrong hand...? Couldn't hurt to try, right? (Which was a lie, since that mean Roch would probably be able to smack him again, but still.) Moure switched hands, lifting it in his other. Better? Worse? He'd find out after he threw it, probably. Quickly, he took aim at the reaper again, and threw the ball bearing toward him. Okay, it had a better heft this time. At least it was more effective than the other one at a greater distance. This hand it was, then.

"Better!" Roch said, grinning slightly as the ball hit. He started forward again with his guitar in hand. Having a long distance fighter at his side would be handy, he thought. If he could get the guy hitting regularly, he'd have something! "What type of FEAR do you got?" he asked.

And then he hit a little too hard for a sparring session. "Jack, sorry, man, you got me thinkin--"

"Type?" Moure asked, thinking as he took a set back. "Well, my one from last year is swift strike and--" Oh hey that guitar really looked like it was coming toward him a lot faster and stronger than usual.

And when it hit, it felt like it too.

Whatever else Moure was going to say, it was lost when his air was knocked out of him. He stumbled slightly from the momentum of the blow, then felt his side. "Man" he hufted out, "Do you always hit like that during spars?" He waved his hand for Roch to continued while he recovered. "Thinking what?"

While waiting for Roch to continue, Moure took a few steps back again. Maybe he just wasn't good at throwing this type of thing? Usually he was chucking a rock or, well, an umbrella at enemies, to be honest. He pulled another one out and looked at it. Maybe if he thought of it like it was maceball and he was pitching? That could work...

Moure's mouth set, and he drew back his arm like he was pitching for a sports game. When he flung the ball forward, it rocketed toward Roch a lot more effectively than any of the other's had. Yup, Moure had a pitcher's arm. That much was clear now.
