User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show. With all the cargo coming in and out of these yards, day in day out night and day three hundred and sixty five days a year there is no way for the government to monitor everything! This is a little fact that many use to their full advantage hobos who ride the rails for free going hither and thither, illegal immigrants who hide in trains to get across the boarder. Of course if these people are unlucky enough to be caught by the railroad bulls* they are in for a serious beating. However some like the mafia members hand grander schemes and used the gaps in rail security. Anything from bringing in goods of questionable legality to bumping of some would be competitor or stool pigeon. So if you choose to visit this place remember fast moving trains are far from the only danger you may face!

*railroad bulls = railroad police owned by that particular rail road to keep the train free of hitchhikers and ensure no one messed with the cargo, etc. However they were given free rail to punish transgressors as they saw fit.

A month has passed in the windy city of Chicago. It is now early April Spring may be here but there is still a n** in the evening air. It leaves you raw much like the long held tension of the uneasy truce between the gangs. The only question now is who will strike first and where?

I walk up to the scene and I'm greeted by an all too familiar sight. A body slumped over one of the rails in the train yard. Holes dot the back and the blood stains still damp, still red, line his back like a dripping pen on a pad of paper. They run down his back from where the lead burst through. He died on his feet. Blood was running down from his wounds before he fell. Taking a closer look I notice his piece is near his right foot. This wasn't an execution. It was too messy, but not messy enough to send a message of some sort. This guy spooked someone. Got caught. His piece barely made it to his hand before it hit the ground, with him following shortly after. That's when it happens. Whether the small breeze, the cold dampness in the air, something made my back realign sending a chill from my neck to my shoulders. It's when I roll over the body I realize I should have recognized the suit. No need to call in someone to ID him, everyone on the scene knew him. Brown, Samuel. Age 34. Beat cop. Guy was so clean he squeaked. He had a German wife. Maybe they tried to extort her. Sam finds out, goes to confront them, things get out of hand, they dump his body here. As far as familiar sights go, I'm sick of one of them being dead friends.
