Zoobey
The papers parted, the desk took form, and from his tiny place on the desk the gnome declared:

"LET THEM EAT ENROLLMENTS."

The new acceptance bins gladly did.

Name: Taima ("Peal of Thunder")
Nicknames: None
Gender: Female
Age: 17

Faction: Monster
Race: Thunderbird

Personality:

Overachiever: Taima is your typical over-achiever, who will take on too many projects and extracurricular activities and still manage to get everything done--and done well. This isn’t driven by a need to be better than her classmates, but an overwhelming desire to be the best that she can be. However, she hates studying! She’d much rather be outside or doing something more active than studying Boo for Beginners, but she puts a lot of probably-unnecessary pressure on herself to succeed and she doesn’t take failure well.

Independent: Taima’s not a shrinking violet or a damsel in distress. She doesn’t need your help, and she’s perfectly capable of standing on her own two feet--while juggling bowling balls and flaming chainsaws and puppies. She won’t ask for your help, even when all of the homework and projects and self-imposed obligations pile up and stress her out to the point of molting. But if it’s offered, she might take it--maybe--and then only reluctantly while feeling like she’s somehow failed for doing so.

Go Anywhere, Do Anything: More than anything, Taima likes Doing Stuff. Mostly things that get her out of the library or a classroom or her dorm room. She’s willing to try anything at least once, no matter how weird or dangerous it might be. Every experience, good or bad, is a learning experience, and that--more than books and tests and studying--is really what school is for, right? She loves trying new things and ranks boredom just slightly below homework in her top 10 list of Things That Suck.

Force of Nature: Taima can be a little intense sometimes. In an effort to Get s**t Done, Taima will roll right over anyone and anything standing in the way of her goals. This includes other peoples’ opinions and, often, their feelings if they are detrimental to or unnecessary for the task at hand. Hurricane Taima can be a little oblivious to other people’s emotions, but when she blows herself out, she’ll realize how insensitive she’s been. Usually. Sometimes. This passion is also evident in the more social aspects of her life; she'll fight just as hard to defend a friend or champion a good cause as she will to meet every deadline and ace every test.

Ya Rly: Taima’s not your shoulder to cry on, she’s your reality check. She’ll be the first one to tell you that yes, girlfriend, your a** does look fat in those pants. She won’t say it out of meanness or spite, she’ll do it because she cares enough to not want you going out into the world looking scary, even for Halloween. So before you cry into your Haagen-Daaz about it, take a good, long look at dat a** and reach for the veggies instead. You can thank her for being omgmean later when you can fit all that junk in the trunk.

TL;DR: Taima succeeds scholastically because failure is just not an option, even if studying is boring and lame and she'd rather be outside doing anything else. She'll overextend herself in the name of awesomeness, even if she has to run other people's emotions over in order to fulfill all of her self-imposed obligations. She likes socializing with other people, although her blunt honesty can often be misconstrued as insensitivity. Taima's a little rough around the edges socially, but she means well.

Why are they enrolled in Amityville Academy?

Taima sees her flock as too complacent and insular, living their daily lives in the same old, boring routine. Most of them have never strayed far from home, content to grow up and raise a brood of scarelings of their own who, in turn, will also never leave. Taima wants more for herself than that. She wants to leave the nest--permanently--and will do anything she can to make that happen. She feels that the instruction she would get at the Academy can help her on her path to success.

Y1

Natural Ability: Shapeshifting: Taima can transform into her natural form, a Cessna-sized bird similar in physiology to a bald eagle.

FEAR Ability: Thunderclap: Taima brings her wings together to create a thunderclap that may stun an opponent. (Headlights, Y2 dice)

Y2

Natural Ability:
Heat Lightning: Taima can generate an electrical field that is strong enough to power or short out most electronic devices. Additionally, touching or being touched by Taima while this ability is active may cause tingling or numbness of the effected area.

FEAR Ability: Bright Eyes: Taima can channel a focused burst of lightning through her eyes in order to attack an opponent. (Battle Cry, Y1 dice)

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.In their true forms, thunderbirds are massive raptors that closely resemble the Bald Eagle in general physiology and body shape. Females range from an average of 30-35 feet in body length, with males being 20-25% smaller. Their wingspan can reach up to three times the length of their body as measured from the outer tips of the longest feathers of each wing.

Thunderbirds possess a pair of small horns that extend from the top rear of the skull, roughly behind the eyes, that curl at the end. They also have sharp teeth within their beaks. Their bones, while hollow, are more dense than those of normal birds; this allows for increased strength and durability in flight. As birds of prey, thunderbirds also possess exceptional eyesight.

The most unique part of a thunderbird's anatomy is its wings. Each set of phalanges is connected to a separate carpus at points along the ulna and is capable of limited independent movement, similar to the flaps on the wings of a plane. This allows thunderbirds to achieve a higher level of aerial speed and agility than most, if not all, other avian monsters.

While the base color of a thunderbird's plumage ranges from light to dark grey, the markings found on them are unique to the individual, though their colors are nearly always a combination of the parents'. Markings are not apparent upon hatching, but appear gradually between molts as the individual matures. They may increase and vary in number, size, and pattern until the individual reaches adulthood.

Ohanzee (l) and Sooleawa (r) are lazy. Their interests include eating, sleeping, eating, eating and sleeping, in that order. They will generally only pay attention to someone--Taima included--if there's food involved, "food" defined as anything that isn't tied down and within reach. Taima used to try to discourage them from eating so much, but stopped after she awoke one morning to find them chewing on her.

Ahiga is a volatile, ill-tempered bird who doesn't seem to like anyone or anything. He will attack people for no other reason than they're there, and is only moderately well behaved even around Taima.

Lokni is prissy and fussy and likes nothing more than being the center of attention. She is openly affectionate with everyone, strangers included, and can be quite demanding when she feels that she's being neglected.
