Owned by Mr. Xun Xue Yu the market is frequented mostly by the Chinese immigrants, or other immigrants too poor to afford to shop anywhere else. But, they sell more than, tea, rice, herbs, fruits and vegetables here. This is where Mr. Yu imports all his opium, and other assorted illicit materials. For the right price he can get you nearly anything you could ever want.

Francesca Gattarini Francesca frequented Chinatown often since she had a great love for jade and silk. Her own apartment was decorated with art and treasures from many Asian nations from India to Tibet and from Thailand to Japan. But, today was more than a mere shopping trip she was sizing up the competition. Since the Chinese had moved in they had grown steadily and the Opium trade was a market they had a monopoly on, Gattarini wanted in on it.

Shayla Fagan As Shayla thumbed a bolt of blue cloth with gold and red phoenixes embroidered on it she frowned. Make it shiny and smooth put Asian print and it must be silk. She thought to herself as she she moved down the shelf and looked over each bolt with a careful eye hoping but knowing it was foolish that she might find what she needed here. Real silk, it was the only reason she came to the dingy little part of the city. Which now it would appear was as real as China's precious dragons!

百戰不殆了解你的敵人 After yesterday's decently beneficial events Xun Xue Yu decided to check out his other business. He meandered around the back room, looking over his shipments and then came from the back stairs to see a young woman looking very agitated looking through the bolts of cheap satin he had on display for the show girls and prostitutes that would come through looking for and exotic appeal. He watches as she practically tears through them grumbling in frustration. "May I offer my help, miss? I apologize. Our stock is woefully lacking." He gives her a shallow bow.

Shayla Fagan Shay raised an eyebrow and tilted her head slightly to return the courtesy When in Rome. Then she spoke but kept her thoughts hidden. "I was wondering if this was your only cloth, I am looking for a high quality silk for some clothing projects I have commissioned." Shay hoped the honesty would speed the process. She made her demand clear but made no accusation in order to keep the peace, besides she had no idea who he was. In these places owners and managers worked the floor along side the underlings, unlike most American businesses.

百戰不殆了解你的敵人 Yu could tell that this woman was not one of those showgirls. "I am ashamed that we do not carry fine silk. If you do not mind me suggesting, I do know of a tailor here in Chinatown who does." He speaks clearly with only the slightest hint of an accent. As he speaks he brushes his hand along the length of his own obviously silk shirt.

Shayla Fagan shay smiled. "Um, I think you may misunderstand. I was not clear I do not require a tailor only bolts of cloth I am a seamstress by trade, and your tailor does make a fine stitch." She said as she looked to examine the hems and threads of this mans robes. They must be nice now, but those robes had to be hot as hell in the summer.

百戰不殆了解你的敵人 He bows several times in succession. "Forgive my foolishness. Though I certainly do not possess the skill, you may be able to convince him to part with a bolt or two. If I may say, he is one of a small few, and I am sure he would be happy for the business." He adjusts his stance so that he leans a bit more heavily on his walking stick, a carved shaft of wood with a deep green jade lion's head on the top.

Shayla Fagan "Forgive the impertinence but, does he speak any English. Or at the very least good enough to do business with?" She asked as she eyed him. "And may I know your name sir? I am called Shayla." She was not sure if she should extend her hand or not. If he kept to the old ways of his homeland which his clothes suggested then the answer was probably no.

百戰不殆了解你的敵人 Yu smiled. "To not know the language of those you do business with is foolish, he does speak English." He takes the weight off of the walking stick. "I am Mr. Xun." He gives her another fairly shallow bow. "Would you allow me to guide you to this tailor or would you like directions?"

Shayla Fagan "I meant no disrespect towards the man, however many of your people keep to their own. Making learning English optional." Shayla said with well practiced apologetic tones. "As you know this place better than I, I would be grateful for your guidance." She said with a smiled and gestured for him to lead the way.

百戰不殆了解你的敵人 Yu smiled again, bowed, and motioned to the door. "You are a very smart girl, Miss Shayla." He leads her down the road a piece to a small shop. There are clothes both east and west here and in the back a small elderly chinese man is working on a suit. After a brief exchange in chinese Yu turns to Shayla and introduces the man. "Miss Shayla, this is Mr. Lo. He says he would be happy to share his silk with you." Mr. Lo bows. "If you would follow me, I have my bolts back here." The two are led to the back where a wide variety of cloths are on racks.

Shayla Fagan Shayla smiled at the man. "Nice to meet you, Mr. Lo." Shayla looked across the racks it was true, this man did have an impressive collection. "I am making costumes for the dancers, other entertainers as well as curtains, table dressings and the like is for a nightclub. I understand that 1921 coming year is the year of the rooster. I will gladly take input as to which colors would be most appropriate." She said as she looked around not sure whether or not it would be appropriate to look over the cloth just yet.

百戰不殆了解你的敵人 Mr. Lo smiled and took the opportunity to teach the young lady a few things about Feng-shui and proper color coordination. After a time he starts showing her his silks.

Shayla Fagan Shay took out a notepad and wrote down what the man told her. Of course there was no way the pnes wearing the outfits would appreciate any of this. But, perhaps she could expand her market of customers and get some of the upper crust interested with a little east meets west fashion.
