Finally, the summer air, the warm sunlight, it was time to play on the beach! A wild grin spread across Samuel's face as he ran out towards the water still in his jeans and grey v-neck shirt. His brown hair was buffed into odd directions by the wind. His bright blue eyes were so set on the water, he completely forgot about the teacher that was suppose to be leading them on a hike for biology class. What he wanted was to swim in the cold water.
"Sam!" the teacher called for him.
Sam unwillingly turned to join back up with the group in a much slower sprint. His red All Star's toes didn't dig into the ground with nearly as much purpose as they had to the water. For the trek up the dunes, he was in the lead with a camera around his neck and his eyes hunting through the grass for shells to put into his messenger bag. He occasionally stopped when one caught his eye eventually making him fall to the back, but he was in his own little world as he hunt for what he called, "nature's jewels".

Taking in the summer air make her smile to see that there were still somethings that had never changed. Her hair now in a pony-tail to prevent it from going into her face she hurried up to stay with the class inside of straying away like some people. Having books in her arms she kept them close only knowing that they would be her only company.
Seraphima wasn't like most kids that were chatty with their friends and spending time with them. No, in fact she was the one that was a complete book worm that only kept her head in books. She was in an alternate reality when she read books for right now she was considered an outcast for loving books as much as she did.
Trading her glasses she had once upon her nose to see she now had contacts allowing her to see better. However, this had made more people want her as a friend while she wanted to be alone to read in peace.

Samuel's attention turned over to Seraphima though when he noticed her shoes treading through the sand. He swallowed hard as he looked up her legs and to the face of a girl he had a crush on since kinder garden, before he knew anything about dating or what love really was. Now, he felt like he had to take a chance to maybe talk to her for once. She denied most guys talking to her, so maybe he had a small chance to get somewhere with him.
"Hey, Seraphima," he said standing up to walk next to her now with everything tuned out that the teacher was saying to them. "Que pasa?" he asked her slipping his shells out of his hand and into a designated pocket in his bag.

Seraphima looked over to the boy that was walking next to her now. With being what social class she was she was nervous the most around males. However speaking a different language than the English that they had grown accustomed to had given Sam some chance. He wasn't trying to seduce her with a date or try to make her come alone with them in the library. Looking down at the ground she missed her glasses that she could use to hide behind.
"Cercando di prestare attenzione" she spoke softly in Italian seeing if he would understand her.

"Hey, go easy on me, I'm just a beginner still," Sam said putting his hands up a bit defensively. "All I got out of that was attention." He smirked though at her wiliness to talk to her, but he was wondering if that was just for the foreign language. He couldn't keep up that language since he was only fluent in just a few things.

She smiled at him seeing him being truthful with her. "At least your not asking me for a date. All I said was I was trying to pay attention," she said to him. Something about him was different like he wouldn't betray her or hurt her like most guys would. She held the books closer to her in case she might be wrong about him

Sam smiled at her response, but then frowned as she seemed to close off from the rest of the world again. "Um, nope. No date is being requested. Why would I ask for a date when I last talked to you in kinder garden?" he asked her trying to get her to open up. He leaned forward a little bit to read her books cover then raised an eyebrow at her choice of reading, but never voiced an opinion.
He stoped his walking to pick up a ruby red, round rock. It was about the size of his head. "Geeze, look at this thing," he smirked feeling how light it was compared to what it looked. "I'll have to take this home and look at what kind of rock this is," he told her filling up the rest of his messanger bag with the one stone. He kept walking turning his attention back to her not even giving the ruby red stone a second thought.

She smiled at him hearing him say no date was the best thing she had heard all day. "True but many other guys have tried to get me to go on a date when before I had glasses and they stayed away from me," she mumbled softly to him. She eased up keeping the books so close to her chest. She didn't like how the guys are giving her all the attention in the world now when they didn't before.
She turned her head towards him to look down to see the ruby red rounded rock he was picking up. It looked very pretty and beautiful however she had never seen a rock like that before. "It looks very pretty," she spoke

"It is, that is why I'm taking it with me. As far as dating goes, I wish I could help, but I know nothing on the subject. I'm not versed enough in it to tell you anyting about it. Last time I dated someone, we got married with a froot roll up ring that we made for each other," Sam told her while stealing another glance at his stone he found. He knocked on it to see if it was hallow and he felt a hum through his body, but he couldn't hear anything. He let the bag's cover fall back over the stone to keep it out of his attention for now. He finally was getting to talk to Seraphima, he wasn't going to waste it on thinking about a stupid stone.

"I don't want to be dating anyone just cause I changed my glasses for contacts." she mumbled. Hearing the last part made her smile and giggle slightly at it. "So how well did that go?" she asked him with a smile. He made her comfortable which was all she could ask for but dating was a no at the moment.

"We ate the rings that night and never spoke to each other again since she was adopted. Doesn't bother me though, it was fun while it lasted," Sam told her with a bright grin. The sad storry didn't bother him at all. It made him so happy when she was there, when she left, he couldn't have her back, so he didn't try to cry over her or miss her. He only could hope that she was somewhere amazing and being the same little girl he knew so many years ago. After a few seconds he added, "I actually wear a contact too, I'm practically blind in one eye." He shrugged at his own comment before looking back up at her with a small smile still lighting up his face.

"It sounds like a lot of of fun. I wear them because my parents thought I needed to get rid of glasses," she said to him. She was glad he wasn't so serious like other boys were. She smiled happily at him, "You are blind in one eye?"

"I am without my contact. Worse than Velma from Scooby Doo. I was born that way, so I've been use to it, but since I wanted to drive, aparently I had to be able to see out of both, so I have perfect vision with the contact. No one really knows any of that unelss I say something," Sam said pointing to his left eye. It was weird to say the least. No one could tell though since he was very adaptible and he had blue eyes, so the natural "discoloration" of a blind eye wasn't visible since they were both already blue. He stuck his hands into his pockets when a cold wind blew across the dunes picking at his hair again that stayed still only from his hat he always seemd to wear even when it was warmer out.
He looked up to the front of the class line to see the teacher still giving away lectures about the plants and animals, but he could care less about biology at this point. The worst dreaded part of this class was going to be going home and probably never talking to Seraphima again.

"Well that's interesting to know," she said with a smile. She found it interesting that he was telling her this about him. She seemed to have a personal connection with him as she looked towards the front to give the lectures about the plants and animals to get. "Well... Um... Maybe we could like study. Or something. Together," she mumbled softly.
