~Paulownia Mall~
The biggest social location in the Tatsumi Port Island area, Paulownia Mall has several attractions which bring in patrons both native to Port Island, and from outside the area. Club Escapade in particular has garnered recognition as one of the more famous and well-liked night clubs in the region, bringing in more people to the other locales such as the Game Panic, Power Records, the Pharmacy, Antique Shop, Mandragora Karaoke, the Police Station, an Accessory Shop, and even a Coffee Shop with what has become a Japanese myth...the "Pheromone Coffee".
Escapade often hosts up-and-coming idols and other famous acts to perform within the club, and ceased serving alcohol a few years earlier due to an accident involving one of their patrons.

Ambriel"Oh geez, oh, geez, oh geez! I hope I didn't come across too softly! I know a little show of force can be really useful for letting people know that we have power at all, but I didn't want to scare them! Oh, I hope none of them decide to turn to the darkness because I wasn't harsh enough... Come on, come on!" the fretting angel pulled out a yellow-and-black book. The cover read, in the ancient language of the Jewish people, 'Angelic Visitations for Dummies'. "Chapter Five, Chapter Five. 'It is important to realize that the choice to follow the Lord is the primary purpose of Visitations aimed towards general guidance. In situations where souls may be wavering, it may be necessary to schedule a follow-up visit. Consider also encouraging the souls to talk about their visions, and give specific but minor revelations of the future so that they may convince others when they talk; for reference on which items of the future are appropriate for Revelation, see Appendix 7.'" Out of the sight of all of humanity, Ambriel began flipping through her book, face as close as it was possible to be as she kept reading. "The Japanese are so strange in their religious practices; oh, I hope a traditional visitation was the right choice!"

Abdiel, the Mediator of the Heavens "...I really...hate the rain..."What did angels do in their spare time?
Logical question, really. Or maybe there wasn't really anything logical about it. I suppose if you encountered them, confirming their existence, then it's possible you might wonder what they were doing when they weren't giving visits to other people and showing them the way of the Lord and all that. But in the end, it wasn't all that interesting an answer. While many of them were the type who remained in the heavens and sang the praises of the Lord, many spent their free time fighting injustices and the forces of evil in their own style, it was also true that some were of a different sort. Some became interested in humanity and spent a lot of time observing them. And others, well...that was what brought the current mediator and messenger in Japan's supernatural hotbeds to this particular location in the Paulownia Mall. On and on at the back of a dark-haired man a girl with pink hair went, worrying about her most recent appearance to humanity, reading from a book she had been given not so long ago to study up on such things. He didn't have to look to know that she likely was not in a corporeal form at the moment, standing right in the middle of the aisle of the room with nobody about them any the wiser. He, on the other hand, was fully materialized...though in a human form as opposed to one that might have caused more troubles. For once his cell phone was at rest in his pocket, his hands at a joystick and a few control buttons, each perfectly-timed press resounding with the cries of the digital announcer's amazement. On the far side, a teen punk's confident look melted away by seconds, and by the time the timer had subtracted a mere 9 seconds their match was over, his face in his hands as he muttered in disgust at his defeat. Once again, the Tekken 2 Champion of Iwatodai had claimed a victory.
With a yawn, his eyes never leaving the game as another challenger took up the second controller against him, he spoke seemingly to the thin air (to anybody watching)...and the eager angel behind him still fretting over her visit.
"You're over-thinking it. I already talked to Heaven and reported no mistakes in your approach. The rest is up to the individual, anyway," his voice was calm, albeit a tad serious, as though this was a decision and a process that he had become quite familiar with over the innumerable years that he had lived. Swirling his joystick suddenly, he slammed down his right hand with an authoritative thump that sent his delinquent opponent reeling away from the controller with a spirit-shattering defeat. ...No hits taken, just the way he liked it. He could already see his next challenger lining up from across the Arcade...a younger boy with a backwards cap that made him stick out to the other gamers in the shop. Dino Shuehara, an 8-year old boy with the reflexes of a cat and the skill of at least a fourth-grader was the number two-ranked Tekken 2 player in Iwatodai, his name on the leaderboards for nearly all the games in the Arcade...just below the letters 'ABI' on each and every one. But on Tekken, it wasn't even close...though from the determined look on his face he intended to make today's match quite different. "Hm, be my guest kid," the angel responded to the boy's challenge and smirked slightly as the tokens were inserted, another rousing round of the fight ready to go...but even as the match began and the boy's shouted challenges to the legendary 'ABI' droned on, his voice only addressed the girl behind him, hoping to calm her down before she worried herself into a real panic.
"Remember to have faith, Ambriel. That's the most important thing with missions such as these. And...hold on..." his phone was ringing in his pocket and he knew he couldn't quite ignore it...shifting to the side, his eyes watched the screen and one hand began flashing with near-inhuman speed between joystick and controls to combat his enemy's attacks on the game...the other hand pulling out the cell phone to hold it to his ear for a brief moment, "Hello. ...Mhm. Yeah, that's what I told her. ...No, I think we're done. ...Yes, she was very thorough. ...And no, I won't let him win..." Snapping his phone shut, his second hand flipped it into his pocket and returned to the controls just in time for the final blow, a punishing combo that practically reduced the child challenger to tears on the far side of the game. It had been a better challenge than normal, but that only made the loss that much more painful. ...Tearing up, the boy wiped his eyes with his hat and sulked back away from the game, looking at the angel with a mixture of admiration and indignation. "Better luck next time, kid..." he wished, though he didn't quite mean it as genuinely as he should have. Yeah, his hubris might have been beaten down by years of hellish punishment, but that didn't mean his competitive spirit had died, either.
And nobody but nobody beat 'ABI' at Tekken 2...

Ambriel"Yes! FAITH IS THE ANSWER!" The angel's eyes blazed, literally blazed as she stood up triumphantly. It was probably a good thing that she wasn't especially real at the moment; divine fire did really strange things sometimes, like not actually burning the stuff it touched. "How could I possibly expect them to have faith in the Lord if I don't have any faith in them!? They've seen a truly miraculous event; only those whose hearts are already turned away forever could possibly avoid being moved! Now that they know the light is real, surely they will remember!" She sounded much happier than she'd been a few moments before, and Ambriel quickly stowed her book back in... whatever it was angels used to hold things. It wasn't really a what or a where... the question was more philosophy than science, really. Nevertheless, the girl seemed quite satisfied, and today's mission had been successfully completed. She twirled around a few times before bending over slightly to look at the screen Abdiel was playing on, curious as to what these human gadgets were all about. Maybe she'd end up possessing one some day to communicate; you never knew what the orders would be, and it didn't hurt to be prepared, right?

Abdiel, the Mediator of the Heavens "...I really...hate the rain..."Victory was sweet; whether it was stomping some challengers at the Arcade or completing a mission successfully, one couldn't help the feeling of accomplishment that came with doing what you needed to do as well or better than necessary. And as long as one did not become prideful as a result, it was a good feeling, one that made you want to strive to do even better the next time around. Fortunately, he had no doubt that his companion was in no danger of being taken in by hubris...Ambriel was the very picture of a devout servant of the Big Guy Upstairs, one whose most absolute of pleasures came in His loyal service. Himself, well, he was still learning...or rather, he had learned and was adjusting as time passed. He wasn't sure he could ever be quite as enthusiastic as she was, bouncing and cheering with an unwavering faith, but that was the sort of thing that made her stronger and better at what she did. Him, he believed, and he had seen his own errors long ago...but after all he had seen and done through the eons there was something that held him back from truly delighting in his job. Maybe it was fear of regression in his spirit, of going back to the type of person he had been in his days with the Pale Legion, or maybe there was a tiny part of him that resented all those years beneath that crushing, choking weight, even if he knew in his heart that it was a just decision. Even now, a single flash of thunder or the rolling of thick rainclouds sent a ghost-like sheet over his eyes, his voice muttering curses at the water and the droplets to fall. His umbrella was propped against the side of the Arcade game and he scooped it into his hand and on his shoulder as he turned away from the fighting game, satisfied with his dominance for now. There were other games to play, and lighter thoughts to be had than of bad memories. Pausing for a moment as his companion examined the game, he found it strange how unfamiliar she was with them. For someone whose job it was to be understanding and deliver hope to humans, she didn't seem to have studied up very much on the world that they inherited from the Big Guy.
"Yes, faith is important. You have to look at it from the point of view of the individual person," his words were calm, legs moving away from the fighting game to what looked like a punching game nearby...passing it with a flick of his wrist, the bag snapped violently and another 'High Score' registered, spewing out tickets that he left behind for a pair of young kids who had been watching him in-awe back at the Tekken machine to scoop up and spend, "He gave humans the gift of Free Will, and we have to remember that. If we went out of our way to visit every person, then that would defeat the purpose of the test of living. You don't believe what you know. And what He wants is for humans to believe in Him." Stopping finally at what appeared to be some sort of a train conduction simulator, he produced a few coins from his pocket and slid them into the slots, maneuvering into the driver's seat to begin the game. Controls were complex, but to his eye the actual gameplay wasn't all that complicated. Even when a sudden ringing of his phone distracted him and lead to him taking one of his hands away from the game, it hardly mattered...once he was on a roll, this game was no match for his prodigious skill. "What humans need isn't direction, Ambriel," he added, closing his fingers over the speaker portion of the phone for just a moment, smirking as a level cleared on the game out of the corner of his eye, "What they need is Hope."

Ambriel"Uuu..." Faith or Hope or whatever, though, it wasn't going to stop Ambriel from watching the humans as they confronted the darkness, and she simply hovered in place, wings flapping nervously as she watched over them from afar. That was probably the difference between her and some of the more militant angels. A lot of them expected humans to obey and follow Him because, well, that's what they were there for. To obey. Few of them took it as deeply, as personally as angels like Ambriel, who were far more likely to actually care about the people they were trying to help. Compassion was one of her greatest strengths... but probably one of her weaknesses, too. More than anything, when she saw people in trouble, what she really wanted to do was dart down with an army of angels at her back, destroy the darkness, and protect the humans from all the horrors and darkness of the world. That wasn't how things were supposed to go, though, and her wings twitched nervously as that abominable Tower played host to some of the darkest moments in their lives. At least they were mostly heading away now, rather than towards the Tower, but... oh, if only He would just re-enact that old story and smash the Tower to the ground! It was bad enough when humans tried to reach the status of the Lord, but trying to corrupt innocent people on top of that... it was so hard to just stay back and watch them! "Come on, come on!" the girl muttered quietly. "Resist the darkness! I know you have it in you!"If anybody else had been able to see her, it probably would have been a bizarre sight. A frantic, deeply worried angel just hovering there, in the middle of an arcade, a place of colorful lights and joy... watching mere humans, far away from her, confront one of the darkest places on the planet and try to get through it somehow.

Ambriel"...Is he gone yet?" Ambriel squeaked out, huddling under a counter as darkness swept across the land and the Dark Hour began. Not that it had the slightest bit of effect on her; it would take a considerably stronger dark aura to trouble an angel of her rank. That, however, was less important than some of the events which had occurred today. She'd been watching a fight at the Arena with interest... and, even at this distance, had been terrified by the monster who'd shown up there. The girl was bad enough, a cursed being who shouldn't have existed in the first place, though the Lord would accept even her if she decided to follow His word. At least, she didn't seem obviously aligned with darkness... the other one, though? Made her want to do nothing so much as run and never stop trying to get away. Even Abdiel might be in serious trouble in a case like that... the other events of the day were pretty minor. A few movements from various groups, but nothing exceptionally major. Still... All of you still have so many challenges... but I believe in your ability to overcome them and see the light! As long as nobody blew the planet up first, of course...

Sumire Ichihara

"Is that all you got, bitches?" The huge broadsword dug on the concrete floor of the mall, the woman leaning slightly on it, spitting out blood that had been accumulating in her mouth. She hated the taste of iron. She hated the taste of her own blood. These two had ambushed her earlier that night...and damn it if she hadn't put up a fight. "Don't you underestimate me, you pansy bimbos!" And yet, nicks here and there showed the damaged made by the petals...along with other bruises and wounds left as a reminder of the fight that had been dragging on for a while.
The sword lashed forward, in an attempt to reflect the attacks, her demonic claws protecting her vitals. And even if she pushed forward, in an attempt to at least make one of them fall...perhaps...she could feel her end coming.

Tear Hemels Songstress of Heaven "Pansy Bimbos? Is that the best insult she could come up with?" Tear said as she tugged on her gloves, making sure they were nice and snug. The woman had come to assist her dearest friend in a bounty, one that had put up quite the fight despite being outnumbered. Tear looked at Futaba and nodded, appreciating that she respected her vows. "Keep her distracted.. this will take some time. You know when to move." The brunette twirled the staff in her hand before holding it horizontally in front of her with both hands. "Sing the glorious song of angels!" That signaled the start of the angelic hymn. Tear closed her eyes as she began to sing in a completely different language known only to her clan. As the hymns were being sang, a glyph could be slowly appearing on the ground. The elegant lines weaving as the words flowed from caster's mouth. Soon the last words were spoken and the glyph began to glow brightly. "Calm Litany!" A bright light would flood the area, and causing the target great pain, though sparing Tear and her friend that experience..

Tear Hemels Songstress of Heaven A small frown came to Tear's face as she saw the Purification had no effect on Sumire. This had happened sometimes in the past, demons that were too evil to be cleansed and refused to change their ways. There was nothing more the woman could do at this point and would normally slay the demon herself but her friend was there. Futaba was very kind, offering to make the final blow in her stead, easing her of some of the guilt of doing away with the target. "Please, Futaba.. There is nothing more I can do to save this soul.. Make it quick, that is the last kind act we can do."

Ambriel, the Angel of Communication and Iofiel, the Angel of LoveThe world of mortals could be a very interesting place indeed... but something about tonight felt just a little bit off to Ambriel. She'd been continuing her work of watching over the humans as they went about their lives, waiting for instructions or opportunities. Yet something she'd never expected had happened, and she was still trying to decide how to feel about it. It was bad enough that time was being messed with, but the people who'd come back... was such sadness truly what the future held? Even that was almost a side-issue, however, as the Angel of Communication turned to face an angel she'd never met before. "...Good evening." Ambriel said, just a bit cautious. Not aggressively so, of course - she was too nice of a person to be outwardly hostile to people she'd just met. There was an undertone of concern, though, because Ambriel was capable of seeing what most mortals couldn't - including the way that the other girl had arrived in this world. Iofiel, on the other hand, simply smiled. "Good evening." she said, returning the greeting and curtsying politely. "We have a lot of things to talk about, but I think the most important one is what you're going to be doing in the future... Mother."For just a moment, Ambriel's hand twitched - but she'd practiced long and hard to hold onto her self control, and merely tilted her head to the side a little as an invitation for the other girl to continue. "The name you gave me is Iofiel." she added, and her perceptive gaze didn't miss the expression on her mother's face - Ambriel knew exactly what the name meant and what might possess an angel to give that moniker to their child. The Angel of Love calmly floated forward, then took a seat on the air and crossed her legs. "Ah, geez, I hate being serious!" she suddenly screamed, throwing her arms out and grabbing her mother's shoulders. "We're gonna stop bad things from happening and everyone's going to be happy. Now come with me!" Gripping her mother's arm and pulling her along, Iofiel shot through the air.
She... hadn't actually planned this out very well. On the other hand, like a surprisingly small number of teens, she wanted to introduce her friends to her mother... so that was what she was going to do. They could figure out the little details later, dangit!

[9/16 - Early Morning] Kuzaku Martillo, the Knight of Azathoth and Kawari Chishio, the Blood CasterIt was some time after Iofiel had met her mother that Kuzaku wandered into Paulownia Mall, looking around the place. Truth be told, he was a little dazzled by all the lights, sounds, and demands for people to spend their money... and he lowered his eyes, flushing a bit, at some of the boldly placed signs proclaiming they sold certain types of ladies' clothing. The past was... the past was very bold, wasn't it? Still, they were here for food, not to go shopping for clothes. Probably. Kawari snickered as she saw Kuzaku's expression. Ah, he was so cute when he was nervous. Still, she was looking forward to trying some of the food she'd heard about, and she cheerfully led the group over to one of the mall's nicer sit-down restaurants. "All right, let's do a headcount. One, two..."
