Prohibition created a new reason to travel either south to Mexico for tequila or north to Canada for most anything else. Chicago was a stones throw from Canada and during the winter months people frequently drove across the frozen Great Lakes. During the warmer months it was a little harder since they had to go by bridge or ferry. But, necessity being the mother of invention as they say, it simply meant that creative smuggling and false bottoms would be employed, when they could not simply bribe away the problem.
(This forum is for all deal/smuggling out of Canada which was a huge part of the organized crimes supply line.)

Brian O'Callighan Brian drove to the US edge of the connection. He looked to make sure he wasn't followed. He began the trip across the ice. Watching where trucks and others failed in order to make it across safely. When he got to the Canadian border he hopped out his truck. "Now. Where is Taggart?" His old friend was always by the edge incase business ever came.

James Taggart James drove up with his fully stacked truck. He spotted a familiar face. "Brian you old Irish goon." He jumped out of truck and have Brian a hug. "I got O'Connors usual and your shotgun rounds in the back. I would have brought extra stuff if I knew it was you." He was glad to see an old friend. Brian had his back on the trip over. "What else can I get you?"

Brian O'Callighan Brian smiled when he saw James. "Nice to see you too." He smiled as he saw the truck filled with guns and booze. His smile grew when James mentioned his rounds. "I need people who are willing to fight. Men who dislike the Germans and the Italians. Also, some more guns and booze." Brian needed to be straight. "I have some whisky for you as well. Some of the Irish best." He pulled the bottle out of his jacket.

James Taggart "Guns and booze I can get. People might be harder to get." James smiled and took the whiskey. "Many dislike the Germans due to the war. As for Italians... Canadians don't have to high opinions of them." He had a list of people who always wanted to fight. "Most Canadians are good shots anyways. I might be able to pull a few." His men were moving the goods around. "Also look at the very bottom of the guns you might find some explosives."

Brian O'Callighan Brian smiled when he climbed into his truck. "James I trust you and boys and anyone else will be with the Irish." He finished his business and was about to head out. It was a long trip but he had fun. He started up the truck. It took a while to get warm due to it sitting. He drove off.

James Taggart "You can count on us." James smiled and waved as his friend drove off. He owed the Irish big time. He entered his house and began to take inventory. He gained a lot from Brian's visit.

A month has passed in the windy city of Chicago. It is now early April Spring may be here but there is still a n** in the evening air. It leaves you raw much like the long held tension of the uneasy truce between the gangs. The only question now is who will strike first and where?
