 One of the first things to be established on a new colony is the agricultural zone. The earliest of the settlers were the farmers and agricultural specialists. They provided food for the colonies and in the few years before the fungal infection they were producing enough to sell the surplus off world. This gave the farmers usually amongst the poorest of people in this society where education and science are king. Were able to experience a few years of bounty. Some few were even able to prop up themselves enough that they were among the lucky few the SRC deemed worth saving because of the improvements they made to the agricultural terraforming protocols.

 Isolde Callaway So far she had made it half way through the agricultural spread and was on her way to the main colony, whatever the guns brought down she would have a look at, the only issue was who else might be interested namely raiders and the victims or the neodymium spore. Taking out a pair of binoculars she raided form an SRC grunts corpse she scanned some out buildings in the field for signs of life before proceeding. Normally she didn't venture out to disturbances and she wanted to be sure she wouldn't get caught by a raiding party and get killed or much much worse. Isolde would prefer to be dinner fore a spore fiend than that.

Daniel "Danny" Colchester Danny got up from behind one of the large pieces of farming machinery. Something had caught his eye and he learned right quick to get low before whatever moved saw him in this new world. Whoever it was, they were now able to be blindsided thanks to them looking through a pair of binos. Placing his feet carefully toe to heel, he moved without making a single sound until he was a good forty paces from what he now knew was a woman. "Alright young missy," Danny said, shouldering his railgun, looking down the sights with his left eye half closed to let him get a full sight picture with his right, "you done walked into the wrong part of this here sector if'n you was looking for a fight. Keep your hands up, the binos bein' in the right of the two, and state your business here."

Isolde Callaway Isolde did not move and merely replied "Go away peasant I am trying to site the landing site of whatever it was that the planetary defense guns brought down. I have no desire to be here and will be moving off presently." Before she had tome to think better of it then she lowered the glasses to look at the one who spoke and noticed his weapon trained on her. Tilting her head slightly she studied the man and wondered how he came by the weapon probably the same way she got her binoculars. Taking a deep breath she waited for a very angry reaction or death depending on how upset her statement made him.

Daniel "Danny" ColchesterDanny lowered his weapon and his hardened features immediately softened. "Well, why in the sam hell would you want to do that? You know those killers are that-a-ways?" He placed the butt of his rifle on the ground and held the end of the barrel, leaning on it slightly. "And what you looking at so oddly? I don't got a third arm do I?" If it was one thing Danny shouldn't be in this new world, it was trusting. It never took much for him to try and help those he came across.

Isolde Callaway "Just wondering whose corpse you either made or looted to get that." She said pointing to the weapon. "I am not afraid of the spore victims they are easy enough to avoid, its the bandits that are scary. But, that doesn't matter I need to see what got brought down." Isolde tightened the straps on her pack and looked up at the dissipating trail in the sky she had a general idea but who knows what would get there first. "Besides why are you out here, tending your carrots?" Isolde asked turning on him as she took a few steps closer.

Daniel "Danny" ColchesterDanny chucked the weapon up with one hand until he was grasping it by the foregrip. "Why this ol' Betsy? Gift from my grandpa. He hadn't finished it when he passed though, but then it was given to me and I sure as hell got it workin'." He couldn't help as a prideful smile broke out across his lips. "Carrots? Nah. Everyone knows these farms were the first things raided. Me n' my pappy did the best we could to help as many people while we could. You know, food, shelter in empty storage areas. But some folks just aren't lookin' for that. They just seem to want to cause misery and pain."

Isolde Callaway Isolde shook her head. "After all you have seen you still trust, you must not be the brightest bulb. You should assume we are all capable of cruelty....to an unlimited extent. Humans are animals and animals are moved by the impetus to survive. I suggest you learn that other wise the raiders will get you too." Without another word she headed away she had not thought it possible that anyone could possibly have such a hopeful attitude , he must be mad there is no other plausible explanation. She told herself as she contemplated their little exchange, yet he had survived this long...it was irregular to be sure.

Daniel "Danny" Colchester"But then there's no point to bein' alive missy. If'n we can't trust each other and speak to each other all civil-like, and treat everyone we cross with suspicion, we just end up cold and alone." Seeing the woman walk away, Danny flipped his rifle around to let the stock hang off his shoulder while he grasped the barrel and began to follow. He took a look at the ground before he stepped off, just to make sure he wasn't placing his foot in a hole or such. Would've been such a poor and quick end to his journey into town.

Isolde Callaway "I suppose you are right but you might also end up with a blade between your ribs, if you trust the wrong people." Isolde said over her shoulder the had gotten the the wall demarcating the boarder between the agricultural portion of the colony and the industrial area. "Well, this is the end of the farm you plan on following me or you want to head back?" She asked as she unslung her pack and got out a rope with a grappling hook on the end and bagan to swing it around in tight circles.

Daniel "Danny" Colchester"Well that's just a risk we have to take as human bein's there missy." Danny scratched his head as he looked up at the wall.He took the rifle off his shoulder and rested on it like before. Looking back to the woman he said, "well, pa always taught me never let no lady go into a dangerous place alone. Just wouldn't sit right in me if'n I had stayed here and you got hurt or worse there missy."

Isolde Callaway "And where is the man who gave you all this advice? Did it help him?" She asked as she let the hook fly up and catch on the wall. Isolde leaned back and tugged on it several times to see that it had caught well. "Oh, and if you intend to follow I hope you can climb." She said mockingly as she pulled on the rope and put her feet against the wall and began to slowly ascend. This was interesting he planned to go with her, but the trick would be to find out if it was for the reason he said.

Daniel "Danny" Colchester"My pa's not around. He was a nice fellow, crackshot too. I'll never be as good as him" Danny let out a chuckle before looking up at the woman on the wall. Then remembering his manners he turned away and leaned against it. "You must be a city girl,if'n you think I can't climb. Especially when you climb like that. I think you been watchin' too many recruitment videos to climb like that."

Isolde Callaway "Nope even better, I read it in a book." She said a little annoyed. "Would you prefer if I wrap the rope around my ankle and climb up that way, hand over hand and such?" She asked down to him as she changed her position to climb as she had described. When she got close enough to the top she pulled herself up and over. Then leaned over the edge. "let's go hayseed show me what you got." Isolde jeered him.

Daniel "Danny" Colchester"Don't mind if I do missy." Danny smiled as he tossed up his rifle at her, then grabbing the rope in both hands he lifted his knees, alternating them to make his body swing, letting his arms shoot up the rope easier. In little time he was up the wall and holding his hand out for his rifle back without even breaking a sweat. "It's all the farm equipment. Stuff is heavy, but at least keeps you fit."
