I'm referring to the movie, which I watched here. I'm a long time Ace Attorney fan, and I'd been meaning to watch this for a long time, and today I finally did. What do I think?

Eh...there are good things and bad things. Overall, I would say that it was good, though I don't know if people who aren't fans of the games will appreciate the movie as much as those who aren't. I thought they did a good job of compressing the game into the allotted time, and I liked the fact that the majority of the film was set in the courtroom, which is where most of the exciting stuff from the game happens too.

I felt the characters were more true to their original game versions than not, with a glaring exception being Maya who I felt was almost NOTHING like her hyper, upbeat, awesome self. However, I'm willing to forgive it due to the portrayal of Larry whose added presence in more places than he was seen in the game made the movie so much better than it would have been otherwise.

So should you see it? If you like Ace Attorney, then definitely. If you like quirky Japanese films, then I would say so too. Otherwise, it may be hit or miss.

TLDR: The Ace Attorney movie is pretty good, especially for being based on a video game. Maya could have done a better job, Larry was amazing. You should probably watch it.

OH! One more thing. The fan-subs on this version are at times inaccurate or impossible to read, but it doesn't detract from the movie TOO much. Just a warning.
