Hello, hello, hello, fine citizens of Kodo! Now that you've all had time to eat your fill of sugary treats and allowed your tummies to settle, it's time for... more!

Welcome to this year's party in celebration of Halloween! Yes, All Hallow's Eve! The time for spooks and frights and costumes on clearance- I mean, amazing, non-discounted costumes! Nope, nothing cheap here! What are these after holiday sales you speak of?

The mayor took a jittery breath and smoothed down his comb over before continuing.

In any case, the city of Camphoreon has done it again. Because October had the nerve to end on a weekday, a Halloween party has been organized to instead take place at a more convenient time: the weekend! Admittance is still free and requires the wearing of a costume. No costume? No problem! The committee has been kind enough to shake out last year's collection, and even added a few fresh ones. To find out what you will be, head over to the costume selection thread. There, you will find 2 options available for selecting your own devious disguise.

Once you have your costume, feel free to enter the main hall. There you will find long tables filled with Halloween-themed foods, drinks, and candy. Decorations are lining the walls and hanging from the ceiling. Music fit for the occasion is--what do you mean the DJ raised his rates?--playing from a computer playlist that will be monitored at the back of the room.

There will also be a raffle later! Did I forget to mention the raffle? Yes, a free raffle. Best of luck to all you wonderful attendees.

I believe that covers everything. Let the party... begin!

--------------------------------------------------

ORP Guidelines:

  • Costumes are required! Go [here] to get yours if you haven't already!
  • This ORP is open to Rockets and Trainers alike.

  • About the raffle: For every page you post on, you will receive 1 ticket towards the raffle. If you post 3 times on a single page, you will still only receive 1 ticket for that page. The last day for the raffle is Nov. 15th 18th. That means that no more posts will be counted towards the raffle after 12:01am PST on Nov.19th, but the ORP itself will still be open.
  • Have fun!

Having last year circumnavigated the rules of a stupid costume draw of 'dinosaur' by going 'palaeontologist' and flexing his muscles at the idiot on the door, this year Aulus had opted for his own costume. As was perhaps to be expected he and Alex had collaborated, and at the chance to dress up like a geek and get away with it presented he had given the elite the reins along with a hard look and a pointed 'I trust you'. As it turned out this trust was not misplaced.

Soft shiny black knee boots. Dark blue trousers - fairly close fitted but not too tight - with red stripes down the sides, a holster complete with blaster on the thigh secured at his belt and by a strap just above his knee. The belt itself had a fairly impressive, flat, smooth, angular buckle and an array of small containers attached to it. Moving upward there was the long-sleeved cream shirt with a deep v-neck, and over that a dark navy vest with a multitude of pockets.

It was a pretty simple costume really but anyone with any geek credentials at all would recognise it, and to be frank he thought that most people without any ought to as well. What kind of person hadn't seen Star Wars? The only problem Aulus foresaw was somebody asking him why he'd decided to give Han Solo a big scar on his face that was blatantly not canon and totally pointless. Still, if it came to that he could entertain himself by making them feel extremely guilty and awkward at least.

Gaining entrance to the party Aulus peered around for Alex who was supposed to be coming as Luke, if he could get it sorted. Claire wasn't coming. She had to work. He understood that, but he still felt a little dejected. At least Alex would be here though, hopefully without Faleen... yes, he was being selfish there but if he was here single it would be awkward if Alex wasn't.

Seraph had pulled the one thing that she didn't want to make out of the hat for her halloween costume-a pumpkin. She didn't dislike the gourd, it was just that it would take too much time to make. Despite this, she managed to whip together a quick outfit with a few bolts of cloth. She felt like she was overly fat in the costume but at least she was able to attend it this year. Last year she wasn't due to some conflict issues with her schedule.

Instead of going to intermingle with the other members of Team Rocket, Seraph decided to wander over to the food table and she helped herself to a cup of punch. Feeling a little wallflower-ish, she walked a little bit over to one side of the table and leaned up against the wall as mush as she could. The squishy pumpkin outfit made it impossible for her to get too close to the wall but at least she was out of the way of the others who wanted to get snacks and beverages from the table. For now, she observed the crowd carefully and curiously.

[Tag Seraph]

Dith adjusted his tricorn; it was a pretty good one, battered leather and authentic looking. It was however rather small, and perched on his head rather than fitting properly. The frock coat was better - broad enough at least - and if it was a bit short, well, he was hardly the only one with an ill fitting outfit. He had brought his own generic fantasy style cream shirt and black trousers - because those went with many costumes you could draw out of the hat - and even discovered some boot toppers amongst the supplies provided that made normal boots look like pirate boots.

Oh, and of course there was the eyepatch.

Having a massive blindspot on his left was a little disconcerting, not because he was worried about anyone creeping up on him but because he was worried about bumping into or stepping on people. Still, people tended to move out of his way as it was so he would just have to trust to that and to Viktor, who was standing up on his shoulders as a substitute for a pirate's Chatot.

After doing a last twirl in front of the dressing mirror to check he looked alright the giant curly-haired man grabbed a plastic cutlass, stuck it into his belt and headed on into the party.

Naturally he made straight for the food and drinks, after all you couldn't have fun on an empty stomach. Having poured some punch and filled a plate with food he cast around for his friends, but his gaze caught instead on somebody who seemed to have drawn the short straw of costumes. Wandering over he offered the young woman a grin. "Hey, bit of a squash in here isn't it?"

The sound of spurs could be heard as the blond grunt walked into the main hall. He tipped the Stetson that was sitting on the top of his head as he took in the room. There was a dj stationed off to the side and Halloween decorations all around. He was grateful that he had been able to hitch a ride over; when he had found out about the party he had debated between using the Superman costume he had been wearing earlier in the week around the base or switching it up. Instead, he decided to pick out a random costume from the drawing they had and after chuckling a bit, managed to get together a decent costume that matched what had been on his piece of paper.

A pair of blue and decently fitted jeans that he owned, a cheap pair of brown costume chaps and vest with a Sheriff's badge attached, dark blue shirt that he had already owned, a cheap red bandana around his neck, rugged cowboy boots, spurs, and the Stetson managed to complete the set up. He had debated how well he could pull off being a cowboy and decided it could work; he did own a horse after all.

He took a look around to see if he could spot anyone he would recognize before heading over to the snack table to see what was available and to see about getting himself a drink.

Xander was rather amused with how his costume turned out. He had been given free reign over it so long as it was a fairy tale character and he, to some what match Frost in a way, had chosen Robin Hood. So he was now in green tights, a white long sleeved shirt with a brown vest over it, brown boots and a green hat with a brown feather in it. He looked over at Frost and gave a smile. "You look very handsome."

His own costume this year.

He had insisted.

He was not wearing something borrowed, and he was not bending to some foolish whim of a piece of paper selected from a hat. This of course brought up the problem of a costume; Frost was not known for his imagination outside of the field of mechanics. Eventually however he had settled on Al Capone, because he got to wear a suit and had vaguely the right build. Completely the wrong colouring of course but that couldn't be helped.

So: a mid 20's style pin-striped suit he had got a trainee to tailor for him and a fedora. He felt quite smart, and slightly less uncomfortable in the social situation than he would have if he was wearing a ridiculous outfit. Like Xander's. He had to admit that the tights were nice to look at though.

"Thank you," Frost looked Xander up and down again. "You look... green. That hat is questionable. The tights however are flattering." It was noisy and dark inside the party, and there were lots of people. Frost pushed down his discomfort and titled his head sharply to the side; somehow he had picked up that a head tilt was questioning, but his deliberate execution of it left a lot to be desired. "So... what would you like to do? Do you want to get some food or drink?"

Xander's smile turned into a grin at Frost's response though he blushed lightly at the last bit. "Thank you." The tights, thankfully, weren't as uncomfortable as he first thought they would be. He looked around briefly then back at Frost. "Drink first then decide from there?"

He'd talked himself into this.
There was no question of that; this was all his own fault.
The fact just made him feel all the more grumpy about it.

"I bet you won't even go, let alone wear whatever costume they give you..."
His bar-mate's words rang in his ears.
Stupid to make such a bet. Of course something like this would happen... He'd probably half known it even last night as he'd doomed himself.

"Well you'll just see now, won't you. Not only will I go, I bet you I'll last the whole night /and/ in whatever costume they give me. Bet I look good, too." Those had been his stupid words and now he wished he could eat them.

Too proud to whelk on a bet- they had settled on a monetary figure, but this was a matter of- well, it was a matter of something. As a man dressed in an ill-fitting tutu, Jeremy wasn't entirely sure honour came into this at all.
He should have flat out refused, but then the bet would be lost and he'd have to explain why... He was doomed either way.

The brunette man had reluctantly muttered and rummaged until he had this monstrosity; a pink tutu (apparently attached to the stupid leotard) and pale leotard. He'd thought, perhaps, he could cobble together a male dancer's costume, yet every rummage brought more and more 'fruity' numbers.
Irritatingly, these tights, leotard and tutu were the 'best' and actually the least embarrassing he could come up with.
There was no way ballet shoes were going to fit on his feet and, having the rest of the costume on (no he did -not- want a tiara thank you, miss), he'd successfully argued the case that he was a ballerina in boots.
Boots that stomped their way toward the drinks table while he muttered.
"Stuck.. whole night.. frr... grr" were among a few of the sounds from Jeremy's mouth.
He didn't even let his pokémon out- they'd find ways to not let him forget this night.

[Dith, Seraph]

Despite being in poor spirits lately - a more polite way of saying moody or depressed - Seraphine had wanted to go to the (after-)Halloween party to try and change that. Unfortunately she didn't bring her own costume, and was therefore subjected to whatever she could find at the event itself. A robot or cyborg of sorts - she'd had to ask what the latter was, and had originally thought that 'android' meant dressing up as the phone - wasn't really something that could look sexy, she couldn't help but think, but honestly she just... She just wasn't feeling it tonight. Perhaps part of that was the memory of having Anastasia out during last year's Halloween party, when at this year's party there would be a distinct and utter lack of her favorite, her most precious pokemon. That in itself was more than sufficient enough to dampen her mood more than it had been previously.

Regardless of all that, she still managed to think of something, mostly pink and gray, and before the organizers could protest she'd grabbed a (semi) matching tiara before hurrying out onto the floor. A quick glance around showed her exactly where Dith was - by the snack and drink table, which was noted with a nod of approval - and the brunette silently made her way over there. Well, as silently as she could; her boots were rather loud and made being silent almost an impossibility. Still, she grabbed a small cookie in the shape of a Zubat before halting beside Dith. "This looks fun so far, I suppose," she said as she quickly summed up the girl in the pumpkin costume. At least she didn't have to dress like that. She would've opted for her atrocious dinosaur costume from last year, rather than be a fat pumpkin. "Got the short end of the stick, huh?" She asked, this time addressing the girl.

------

[Anyone]

Seraph wasn't the only one feeling wallflower-ish tonight. Whether or not he really wanted to attend the party, he was still acting on the advice an old friend had given him, and that was to go out and socialize. Or at least go out, which he did. His choices in costume were depressing at best, considering how close this party was to a particular date that held a great deal of unfortunate significance to him, and so that coupled with a complete and utter lack of a desire to use his imagination at all, he came up with his brilliantly plain costume - a ghost. The thick sheet was completely opaque and didn't at all show the color of his clothes beneath it, and where it ended at his ankles, one could see a pair of white boots sticking out. A pair of holes cut out for eyes and he thought it was pretty good, all things considered.

This, of course, made it rather hard to partake of any drinks or snacks. Inigo didn't realize this until after he'd put it on and left the costume rooms, unfortunately, but since he'd had a good dinner beforehand (as good as the cafeteria offered, anyway) he didn't really care all that much. Honestly he didn't really care to even be here, but he still had every intention of making the best of it. For now, though, he didn't immediately see anyone he knew, so he retreated to a wall to better scan the crowds for any familiar faces.

------

[Anyone]

Not far from Inigo stood a woman in a long white coat and heels, coupled with a white hat and a magnifying glass sticking out of her pocket, it wasn't too hard to guess that she was some sort of detective who must really like the color white or something. White and blue. She was standing a ways from the wall but facing it, admiring all of the decorations that had been put up. They looked like the same sort of decorations people would put up on their houses or in parties back in Johto, but she supposed that was to be expected. Still, it was interesting to note the differences - or lack thereof.

Done looking at that particular wall, Abigail began to make a slow circuit of the outer ring of the room, looking mostly at the decorations and various costumes people had come up with. It really was most interesting, and her first Kodo event! It made it that much more exciting.

[Xander]

Frost inclined his head slightly in agreement. "Very well. I hope they have some that are individually packaged, and non-alcoholic." If they did it would probably be something sweetened and carbonated, but such things were pleasant enough on occasion....

Ah.

"I recommend we avoid the giant pirate," he added softly as his eyes caught on Dima's massive frame. "Fortuitous that we have hats."

--------------

[Seraph, Sera]

"Sera!" Dith beamed as his young friend addressed him. "You look good, what did you get? Robot?" Princess robot apparently; the little tiara (which did actually go with the costume as a whole) got a fond smile. It was good to see Sera out having fun, even if she wasn't quite herself.

--------------

[Inigo]

Well there was no point in just standing around here he supposed. Shrugging to himself Aulus moved over to the refreshments table and grabbed a beer, because if Claire wasn't going to be around he might as well take the chance to enjoy a couple of drinks. Having done this he headed over to a wall, easier to scan the whole room from there.

Paying more attention to looking for Alex than to where he was going as he walked along the wall he bumped into somebody. Luckily he managed not to spill his drink on the... wholly unimaginative ghost, but his natural scowl still came to the forefront. "Didn't see you there," he said, which was as close as he came to an apology to somebody he didn't know. At least, he assumed he didn't know; it actually wasn't possible to tell under the sheet.

--------------

[Jeremy]

When he'd drawn his costume out of the hat it had all he'd been able to do not to burst out laughing. He flatly refused to go for the standard sort of mad scientist though, that just had no flare, but luckily an extensive trawl of the costumes and accessories supplied him with what he needed, plus a couple of items he'd brought himself just in case he needed to wear something tight would show lines if you weren't careful what you wore underneath.

Wearing black gloves, stockings, high heels, a calf-length labcoat and not a great deal underneath, KO sauntered into the party with a salacious wink for the bouncer.

It had been a while since he'd walked in heels (other parties, other costumes) but he soon got into the rhythm of it and made his way over to the drinks with maybe a little more hip swing than was strictly necessary. Pouring himself a cup of punch he turned to a muttering man in a tu-tu and raised an eyebrow. "Well, somebody Grand jeté-d out on the wrong side of the bed this morning."

[Dith, Seraph]

"Yeah, robot. Or cyborg, or android," she said with a shrug as she finished her cookie. She caught him smiling at her tiara, and she shamelessly reached a gloved hand up to adjust it. Robot princess, thank you very much. As she put the now empty hand onto her hip and leaned her weight on that foot, she tilted her head at his outfit slightly. "You got pirate? Rosie had that last year, I think." It didn't look terrible on him, actually.

----------

[Aulus]

Luckily for him, Inigo saw the larger man approaching and had time to brace himself for impact - he couldn't exactly press himself against the wall considering he was leaning on it - and thankfully didn't fall over or stumble. "Nah, está bien. Don't worry about it," he added as he shrugged, although the action wasn't as noticeable under the sheet. His green eyes traveled over the seemingly foreign person, but he quickly recognized the face and expression - he'd seen this man occasionally pass him back at the base, and a wave of recognition passed over his features. Unfortunately it'd only be partially visible in his eyes, considering the sheet again. Man, this probably wasn't a good idea.. Oh well. "Good to see some coworkers here," he said as casually as he could, as if he'd seen him around an office or something. "Were you looking for somebody?"

[Tag Dith, Seraphine]

Seraph gripped her cup tighter as she saw more people enter the big room. She was about to shuffle away and towards the entrance when she spotted someone coming towards her out of the corner of her eye. She turned her gaze towards him as he asked her a question. She winced slightly at the joke he made but laughed a little bit to show that she wasn't offended by the joke. "Yeah, it is," she said in response to his question. She gazed curiously at the Embreon perched on Dith's shoulder. "I'm Seraph, by the way. I don't think I've seen you before. Are you new?"

She was a little startled when someone else came up to her. She smiled and nodded politely. "Yeah, but at least I made it this year. Last year I had guard duty and had to stay there all night." She fidgeted for a few moments before settling down. At least she was here this year. That was the best part about getting this night off. "So...anyone know if there is anything else going on tonight for the party?"

[Abigail]

Arcadie didn't need an occasion to dress up, but Halloween and its related parties allowed her to go the extra mile and really kick it up a notch. She'd been hitting up parties since the previous weekend, bouncing from club to club and event to event dressed any way she could think, beginning as tamely as the token Sexy Little Red Riding Hood up to adhering a painstakingly realistic printout of an extra set of eyes onto her face. The city's official shindig, however, promised to be a whole 'nother ball game, and since she wasn't hungover anymore Arcadie decided to give it a whirl. Getting a costume randomly assigned to you at the door? Now that was a gimmick she could get behind.

When all the formalities were out of the way, the young medic strutted herself into the room all decked out in the full regalia of a rainbow princess, her brightly colored bustle flouncing energetically with every movement.

Yes, this was good. If this was the final form of her holiday revelry, she surely didn't have any complaints. All that was missing was some official city-sanctioned quality booze. Not that she needed it. She could get drunk off her own energy if she had to - one of her more enviable skills.

First order of business was usually to scope the refreshments table - especially if she was interested in the alcohol bounty - but something, or someone, else caught her eye first.

"Abigail!" she called to the white-clad detective, waving enthusiastically as she closed the distance, "Trés fantaisie! I was expecting more outlandish costumes, but how can you argue with such style? What ever are you doing lingering by the walls like that? I would have expected to spy you on the dance floor!"

[Sera, Seraph]

Dith grinned at Sera; "Yarr! One of the better ones I could have got. I don't think anybody would have wanted to see me as a princess." He wouldn't mind particularly - wasn't like he hadn't played dames when called upon - but for some reason some people got vicariously embarrassed about crossdressing.

This train of thought however was swiftly derailed by the pumpkin.

Dith blinked.

"Uh... nice to meet you Seraph, I'm Dith. I... suppose I haven't been here long in the grand scheme of things?" New here? Guard duty? What was she on about? She'd had to stay where all night? Suspicion was beginning to creep through him, but was he just too paranoid these days. "I don't know of anything else happening," he added after a moment, "have you heard anything?" It was tempting to glance over at Sera but he resisted the urge; could be that all of this was perfectly innocent... or possibly not.

-----------

[Inigo]

As he realised the voice was familiar Aulus relaxed a little and nodded to the ghost; couldn't place the name, but knowing he was a rocket was good enough. "Yeah, I had to swap three of my day shifts next week for night shifts to get somebody to swap with me for tonight off," he replied, "hope it's worth it. Did you have to trade, or are you one of the lucky bastards that was off anyway?... Yeah, I was looking for Alex - Hayes - he's supposed to be here. Maybe the computer systems crashed or ate all the code for one of his projects or something." He hoped not, but the idea of his friend frantically trying to fix an unexpected problem while dressed as Luke Skywalker at least gave him a bit of amusement.
