It had been altogether far too long, Seraphine had decided, since she'd been in a club. Far, far too long. She'd spent ages moping and dealing with her parents and making a token effort at training (and still wasn't having much success, since really she knew next to nothing about the concept), and finally decided enough was freaking enough.

It hadn't taken her long to pull out her favorite club attire from her pitifully tiny closet, though it had taken her a while to get ready. And when she walked into the club in downtown Camphoreon, she immediately felt better. It helped, of course, that she thought her short, low-cut dark pink and black dress coupled with matching 4" heels made her look even sexier than usual (No, Seraphine doesn't have a high opinion of her appearance at all, what are you talking about you silly person). One of her favorite necklaces and a subtle layer of make-up helped too.

Oh who was she kidding? Hell, just being in a club at all made her feel better.

She left her coat at the door - leaving the invisible Giselle there to watch it - and before she even reached the dance floor she was dancing. It wasn't long before she'd found a few people she knew and had a few sips of their drinks, despite her age, although she didn't bother to stay with any of them. They weren't her best friends, after all, and anyway she'd come there to dance her troubles away. And to maybe meet a few cute guys, too.

For Nate, it hadn't really been all that long. He usually made it out into Camphoreon's nightlife any time he had a pre-closing shift on Friday, sometimes accommodating some time for weekdays if he knew he wouldn't have to wake early the next day. He didn't really have cash to blow aimlessly, but what else was there for him to do if not go out from time to time? Ambergris sure as hell didn't offer much in the way of entertainment.

Fortunately, he at least didn't have to go out of his way to dress extravagantly to fit in with the club scene. As a guy, a nicely fitted t-shirt, a clean pair of jeans, and a tastefully chosen necklace (as long as no one asked much about it, given it was fan merchandise from a webcomic) were enough to pass off as "dressed up" for any non-exclusive nightclub. As long as he looked better than some of the other guys there, that was good enough for him. It was the girls that were supposed to be the charm of any given club, after all.

Nate himself didn't really come out to clubs for the sake of hitting on girls, but he also wasn't inclined to pass off something that looked like a really good opportunity - and this decked-out chick making her way around the dance floor looked like one such opportunity. He pulled up a seat at the bar and ordered a drink - Leighton might have been an a**, but he made the best fake IDs - then proceeded to watch the girl in pink and black, waiting for a chance to make eye contact and flash a smile of invitation.

It had been so long since she'd been to a club, Sera had almost forgotten that they had a lot of cute boys. Almost. Almost forgotten. She also had been spending a lot of time with her friends, and friends fell into the 'friend' category and didn't register in any other.

She was feeling much better already though, from dancing - a little alcohol always helped - and had been working her way around, scanning as much of the club as she could see.

And what she could see was a new white-haired guy ordering a drink and quite possibly looking in her direction. Her appraisal of him was quick and almost entirely subconscious: Dressed nice, decent hair, interesting color, interesting eyes (contacts?), and all in all looked a fairly decent prospect for a little fun. Said appraisal took all of several seconds to complete, and as she made eye contact she offered him a smile from across the room.

Well, that was a positive response. Chances were looking good. He half turned in his seat, tapping the table lightly to get the bartender's attention and ordering another beverage. The requested cocktail was prepared in short order, a fizzy looking thing with a bright color and a pleasant aroma, and Nate took the glass by its stem and moved to meet Seraphine, presenting the glass to her, "Night like this, pretty girl like you with no drink in her hand? That is a national tragedy if I've ever seen one."

He turned - was he not interested? - no, he was.. ordering a second drink. Perfect. A coy smile spread over the brunette's face as she continued to dance, though making her way (without seeming to, hopefully) closer to where he was.

But he met her halfway.

She ended a slow twirl, and the hem of her dress swirled about her legs as she gave him a coquettish smile. "Isn't it though? Pity I can't get my own," she said offhandedly as she carefully took the glass from him, making sure to brush at least a couple of her fingers against his as she did so. He obviously wouldn't mind that she wasn't old enough to drink legally - hell, he probably wasn't either; there were such things as fake IDs, though she'd never managed to obtain one (as hard as she'd tried to multiple times) - so she smiled at him again, this time showing a fleeting flash of teeth. "It's hard to drink while dancing, though - but I wouldn't mind taking a break," she said as she took a sip of the cocktail, peering up at him over the rim of the glass. Mostly into his eyes - she'd never seen any like them before. Had to be contacts. There was no way they were natural.

"Lucky I came to your rescue then," he said, relinquishing the cocktail into her custody gently. "Sorry I had to skip the white horse. You know how the economy is." He took a moment to survey her full figure and attire, making no effort to mask his doing so, before returning eye contact with a continued smile. "Considered me honored," he said, "that you would step out of your natural environment for me. They must have hired you to liven this place up, huh?" There was a part of him that kind of disliked all this empty sweet talk, but else was he supposed to do? He was a male in a nightclub interacting with a female; there was only one way this could go.

Man, he sure kept going, didn't he? Sera laughed. It was an open-mouthed laugh, natural enough to not obviously be trying to show off her tongue ring but honestly, that's exactly what she was doing. Mostly because some guys thought it attractive, she'd found, and was curious if he would as well. For now, though, she took another sip of her cocktail and just as obviously studied him over its rim. She was glad she was drinking at mention of the economy, though, but she shrugged and offered him an easy smile that came easier because of the alcohol. "Oh yes, I'm sure everyone does -- and you know it."

Witty banter: Complete.

"You come here often? I haven't been here in a while, sure, but I'd definitely remember someone like you," she said, tilting her head a bit so some of her hair fell over her bare shoulder.

Nate was more or less ambivalent on the piercing, erring towards thoughts that it didn't really really suit her. His body language didn't change to indicate one way or the other, though. He responded to her laughter with a wide grin, moving to rest an arm on the back of a nearby unused chair.

"Every now and then," he said, maintaining his smile, "and only for the last year or so. Maybe I should try to come around more often, though."

While he didn't respond either way to her piercing, he at least was aware of it and that's all she cared about right now. She could find out his opinions later, one way or another. As he moved to lean on a chair, she moved to lean against its adjoining table, still offering him a smile as she gently swirled the contents of her glass. "Yeah? Maybe I should come around here more often too," she said as she raised her glass to her lips once more.

She didn't drink it yet though, instead tipping it briefly towards him. "Contacts?" She asked, then took another sip. "I've never seen eyes like yours before."

"Ah," he resisted the urge to look away, "no, actually, natural." He was pretty accustomed to being ridiculed by his friends over the multi-tonal nature of his eyes, but as long as he didn't let that reluctance show too much, it was usually a good point for conversation with strangers.

Sera's eyebrows rose significantly and she lowered her now empty glass, and put it down on the table a little harder than she meant to. "No way!" She exclaimed stubbornly, offering a slight shake of her head as she continued to lean on the table, her now free arm draped across it now that it didn't have to hold the glass anymore. Her other hand went to her hip, and she gave him a coy smile. "There's no way those are natural. I don't believe you," she finished, calling his bluff. Because there was no way it wasn't a bluff.

"Oh yeah?" he said, laughing. Nate leaned forward, bringing his face just short of hers and filling her immediate vicinity with scents of bourbon and cologne. He tucked his chin downward to angle his vibrant gaze up at her, and, his tone low, said, "Best believe it."

When he laughed and leaned in, she laughed a bit as well - it was more a giggly sort of laugh - and managed to refrain from reflexively leaning away. Instead, her cheeks turned a bit pink - she'd like to have anyone think it was only because of the alcohol, but it probably very obviously wasn't - and she bit her lip lightly as she studied his eyes. And his face. And his cologne. He would more than likely, at such close proximity, be able to more easily detect the scent of whatever was in the cocktail he'd given her, as well as perfume and the fact she was wearing contacts.

But he wasn't.

Well, unless they were the kind that covered a majority of the eye...

....nope, he definitely wasn't wearing contacts.

Her cheeks were still pink when she giggled again. "Alright, you win," she said in similarly low tones, although she made zero motions towards moving away, "I believe it." She loved the green - biased, of course, due to her own pale green eyes - and she did like purple. Blue, not as much, but overall such a vibrant mix of colors was out of the ordinary, especially for a natural eye coloration. She couldn't tell if she liked the combination or not, though she thought she was leaning towards liking it. Possibly.

"Damn straight," he said breathily, loitering before her. The aroma of her cocktail and her perfume lingered in his senses - indeed, it would be a feet not to have one's senses overwhelmed by a person who was just inches away from one's face. Her complexion, the texture of her makeup, the faint line of the contacts in her eyes (prescription?)… She was certainly pretty enough, and if she was worth half of what she appeared to be, then maybe something was in Nate's favor for once. He allowed her a bit of teasing, leaning just slightly more forward as if to touch their lips, before suddenly returning to a normal posture - though the distance he left between them was less than it had been in the beginning. He raised a hand to gesture at the bartender, indicating with two fingers. A nod in reply, and in short order one of the bar staff delivered the ordered beverages. Nate took them both, offering one to his company.

"Don't think I got your name," he said. "Mine's Nate." He raised his glass to sample the drink, curious as to what the house liquor was. Some kind of vodka mix, it seemed.

Oh yes; the more she looked into his eyes, the more she liked them. She liked his cologne, too, and the alcohol he'd had wasn't bad either. It was difficult not to be overwhelmed when someone was so close and filling practically all of her senses in some way - all but two of them, at any rate, but three out of five was getting to be pretty overwhelming - though the fact she hadn't done this in probably at least six months and was therefore out of practice didn't help at all. She used to have more self control than this, but honestly it had been a long time.

She didn't want to think about that now, though, of course; especially not as he leaned in closer, and she held her breath--

-- but he leaned away again, leaving her just a little disappointed. A little, and only briefly; if he got closer once, then he was more likely to do it again. He was looking at her still despite gesturing something to someone, though she just wanted to keep studying the colors of his eyes, the lines of his face, where his jawline curved and its shape --

-- and suddenly they had more alcohol. And he didn't even look away or go to ask for it or anything. And he was still looking at her.

....okay yeah that was hot.

Her cheeks turned just the slightest shade darker as she accepted the glass he gave her, offering him another coquettish smile as she did so. "Mmm, thank you," she said, consciously inserting the phrase that was still sort of foreign to her, but realized it would be perceived as rude to not include it, and then raised the glass to her lips as he introduced himself. Once he'd finished, she lowered the glass again with another smile and replied, "Seraphine." Her smile continued as she shifted her weight to her other hip and added, "Sera is fine too, though."
