[FIN] Sad Emil

After a second failed attempt to speak with Yuri, Dove continued into town, her eyes focused only on what was ahead and her shoulders tense, Lovey padding along worriedly beside her at her ankles. Though she had fully intended to visit Luke after making a quick stop at one of the small bakeries in town--hopefully a few sweets would be enough to at least begin to make amends with the young man, even though she still had no idea how to approach him after such a horrific morning only days ago-- she now found herself even more hesitant, put off by her argument with the long haired swordsman.

Nevertheless, she slipped into the bakery nearest the park, determined to keep her head up. Today would be a better day, no matter the circumstances. It would be. At least until she got back home, to herself. For now she would focus only on the task at hand.

Already inside was a young boy with platinum blonde hair and green eyes who looked to be in a rather downtrodden mood himself. Coming to buy some bread, Emil was reminded how very poor he was without the support of his aunt and uncle or Luke. It was pretty depressing, and he knew that he needed to do something about it.

Danish was with him, perched on the boy's shoulder as he attempted to select a loaf. Not even looking up as he heard someone else enter the shop.

After scooping Lovey up into her arms, the girl made her way through the aisles, absently wondering if Luke even liked sweets, though her thoughts of selection were heavily shadowed by the previous conversation. Sighing in frustration, she shook her head to herself and made her way toward a section of more highly decorated cakes to browse.

However, he attention was again misdirected when she spotted a familiar hea of blonde hair. Turning to confirm that it was him, she paused, wondering now if he had even been informed of the chaos of recent events. Desperately hoping he wouldn't have to --again-- be the bearer of bad news, she made her way over to him. "Emil...? Hey..." she greeted, hoping he remembered her.

Hearing his name, Emil looked up and blinked at the lady nearby. She definitely looked familiar, and the boy tilted his head a bit as if trying to think where he'd seen her before. Oh yeah!

"Oh, hi... um Dove," he said meekly. The memory of the hot springs now coming to mind. It had taken him a little bit longer to remember her name.

She offered a nod of encouragement as she struggled to remember her name, smiling weakly when he spoke. "How have you been?" she asked him, just before remembering it was usually polite to return the question, and well, her story wouldn't be so great.

Shoot. Emil was Luke's roommate right? Surely he knew everything that had been going on. Amending her question to him, she added, "How are you holding up?"

Emil blinked at the girl as she asked him two different questions that were really the same. His green eyes tilting down for a moment. "I-I'm okay," he said softly. And really he was. He was just fine. It was Luke that wasn't okay. The boy was still confused about his roommate's actions. He's just... left, without even a goodbye. Just a note saying he was going home and that he could stay until the lease ran out. Which... did give him time to figure things out but... now he was alone. And really it kinda scared him.

"How are you?"

She watched him, her brows furrowing in concern. "I'm...alright. Just, you know... the general worry about things," she told him, cuddling Lovey under her chin. He didn't seem okay...Then again, he was Luke's roommate. The whole situation had to be heavy for the boy. "Are you sure? You, um... haven't heard from Luke recently, have you? I'm planning to visit him this afternoon, but I'm not sure if they're letting him have visitors..."

Emil blinked at her first statement. Wondering what she meant, as if he would know or something. But he didn't respond to that.

The question about Luke drew a single nod. "He left me a note. Said he was going home. So... you probably won't find him."

"That's all he said? Nothing about how the surgery is holding up?" she asked, more concerned than ever. She had just spoken with Luke not too long ago about Kodo, his reasons for staying. Surely he wouldn't leave all of his friends behind...

Emil blinked in surprise. "What surgery? ... You mean the one he had a few weeks ago right?" Yeah, the poor boy didn't know anything that was going on. And he had been living with Luke too.

She gave the boy an odd look, confusion clear in her features. "No, the transplant surgery..." she clarified, tipping her head in concern for the blonde. Had he been told nothing? "After he was wounded they took him in, and..." She tensed, visibly. "A miracle saved him..."

Please already know, please, please... She didn't want to have to explain. She didnt want to think about it. She didnt want to be tge bearer again.
She would if she had to, but she begged for a higher power to help.

Emil stared, wondering if he'd heard right. Transplant? Wounded? Miracle? It was a bit much for the boy to process as he'd had no inkling that anything had been going on. Just that Luke had decided to go home for whatever reason.

"I... I don't understand. What's happened?" His voice clearly one of deep worry.

Her heart sank when he asked her, his expression showing he had no idea what had taken place. "Oh, Emil..." she said desperately, her eyes full of regret. She let them flutter shut a moment, then looked to him again. "We should go somewhere else...come on, we can talk over a snack if you'd like...choose anything, it's...on me..."

That said, she waited for him to choose if he so chose, trying to gather her thoughts before she was forced to relive everything again.

"Okay..." Emil said softly, hesitantly. He wasn't liking the sound of all of this at all. And briefly the boy had to wonder why nobody had told him about this before. The young blonde effectively wilting under the thought of being left out of the loop. But it was okay... it was okay.

Picking out something in silence, Emil followed Dove, carrying Danish with him to wherever it was she wanted to go.

Dove paid for both their selections, then led the boy out of the shop, taking a deep breath as she wondered where to go. This definitely wasn't something she wanted to discuss with him while he wasn't sitting... it certainly wasn't easy news to give, let alone receive.

After a moment, she made her decision, choosing to lead him a little ways up the street to a more open common's area, picking a table a little ways away from all the others that were now enjoying their lunch. With a (hopefully) encouraging (but apologetic) smile, stopping before she took a seat. "Is this okay?"
