"The decisions we make, the choices we do or do not accept...they all give birth to new worlds, endless, infinite possibilities. Every light, every star up there is another world similar to, but different from ours."

"Similar...but different? I don't understand..."

"There is always a lighthouse...always a man...always a city...and yet what this man does, the city itself, those things may change based on what is chosen."

"You're talking about constants and variables...?"

"That's right...and all around us, these worlds progress independently, and yet linked with our own as one of the infinite. ...Sometimes, these world's cross paths at the tears, and we can see the weight of the choices we didn't make..."

"What are you saying...? ...What am I seeing here? This lighthouse, this door...it looks just like all the others...but when I open it, things are going to be different somehow. Aren't they? ...My choice, but some choice that I didn't make is going to have changed something...well what if I don't do it?"

"It's already done..."

"Nobody tells me what I can and can't do..."

"But you've already done it..."

"...I..."

"In one world, you turn left...in another, you turn right. The possibilities from a single choice are infinite..."

"...Why are you showing me this? I just want to get out of here. I want to...let's just go!"

"We can't..."

"Well why the ******** not?!"

"...Because you still have to choose..."

"..."

...

"...Yojimbo's...Tomb...? I've been here...I recognize this place...!"

"...No, you haven't...this one is different. This is before..."

"...You mean...wait, isn't this...I haven't...?"

"...Yes. ...The only way to truly change the infinite possibilities branching from this single choice...is to stop the choice from being made altogether."

"You mean...you...what are we doing here...?"

"..."

"...Tell me..."

...

"...We're going to create a different choice."

*~:: Yojimbo's Tomb ::~*
::Instructions::

Somewhere not so very far out of town from Inaba, a gap...seemingly torn right out of space and time itself...has opened and replaced what was once plain, rolling countryside with a small, dark, crumbling tomb...and from within this tomb emanates power, malevolence, and possibility.

Drawn by natural instinct towards the tomb, a chosen few come to stand before the pitch entrance in a stretch of land shrouded in a nighttime darkness despite it having been daytime only moments before they crossed into this territory. The sky is bright with the shimmering stars, and the tomb is lit only by the faint light of torches along the path towards the burial chamber...the chamber where the power awaits within.

You come not just because you seek the power...but because of a sense of belonging, a sense of inevitability...it's as though you've been here before but merely can't remember when or why or even how.

...

At the entrance to the tomb, however, you are greeted by a face you could never have expected...a traveler through the rift come to give you one final warning, and perhaps, dissuade you from following through the mission which brought you here to its end...

...

The choice is yours. As are the consequences...

Quote:
Yojimbo's Tomb

1. Two characters, pre-selected by the user (you) and approved by the moderator in charge of the event (Arena) may approach the tomb in search of the power within.

2. Once characters are selected, each character may approach the door, but shall wait to enter until the "Traveler' appears before them.

3. Once the Traveler appears, you will be given a choice: [Accept the gift before you and walk away without entering the tomb], or [Refuse the gift and the Traveler's advice, then enter the tomb.]

4. Once within the Tomb, proceed until you stand before the carved mural on the center of the burial chamber depicting the above image...then wait until Yojimbo appears before you.

5. Once Yojimbo appears before you, you will be asked to name your price...depending upon the 'value' of the offering you place before him, he will offer you a boon which he holds in equal value in return. If you are pleased with this gift, accept the boon and sacrifice your offering, then leave the temple! If you are NOT pleased, you may increase your offering TWICE and see what Yojimbo offers in return.

6. If three offerings have been made and no deal has been struck with Yojimbo, you will be forced to leave the Temple...however, to refuse the mighty Yojimbo may yet yield the potential for an even greater reward...if you are bold enough to do so...

7. Consider well all offers before you leave the temple, be they from Yojimbo or otherwise. Choices have consequences...for good or for ill, you will bear the weight of the choice you make...as may those around you.

8. Once all transactions are complete, exit the temple and return to your normal RP. You may reenter wherever you were at the moment the rift in time appeared and called you.

Good luck!

Haoul Yamakaji
Ugh...where am I? the Embryon captain thought, clutching his head a bit. He'd been walking around the downtown area aimlessly, and as he kept walking...something seemed to be drawing him away.
The Captain walked...and walked..and walked, for what felt like ages. Something inside him...something even more powerful than his Atma-ic hunger seemed to call at him, and before he was aware of what was going on, he found himself standing outside of some....strange Tomb.
"The Hell?" he stated flatly to himself, as he glanced up. Yep...definitely some kind of strange Tomb. Something in it beckoned him....called out to his very being. Something just....resonated. Despite this though, he kept his wits about him for a bit, keeping on his guard. Something didn't feel right about this...Though, the tomb eked power...
Power on another level...and as he stood outside of the Door, he asked himself that all important question.
Do I...or Don't I...?

How....did I end up..here?
Another inexplicable urge...another walked path... WYNN had been heading out to buy some medicine for her brother...when something seemed to call at her.
It reminded her of the night with the strange building...and the snake-man. She clenched her hands tightly, as she glanced around the area.
This area.....something is...strange about it. she processed, keeping her eyes out. Something....something was resonating in the air, and it didn't take sensors for her to know that it meant something supernatural. The question was, what was it? She closed her eyes for a moment, before opening them again, as if the whole thing was naught but an illusion...before settling on the fact that it was real.
She half-reached for her Phone, but part of her kept her feet moving....drawing ever closer to the ominous Tomb in front of her, and making her think.
What shall I do.. she thought, keeping her body on high alert. I don't want to endanger myself....but...
But the lingering sensation she could feel...the promise of power... It was...
It nagged at her...and pushed at her. Maybe...Maybe this was her chance to get stronger... So she could fulfill her parameters...So she could help others..

Crimson-Haired Traveler
"How the ******** did everything go so wrong, so fast?"

"Don't." the voice inside of Haoul's head suddenly came from the entrance of the tomb before him...from the mouth of a hooded figure with crimson strands of hair trailing down as longer bangs on either side, framing a not-so-unfamiliar face. There was a long, rugged scar torn from the upper-right side of his eyebrow across the length of his face diagonally to the far side of the chin...but in the shadow it was hard to make out much more detail about this crimson-haired figure other than that familiar voice. Tan cloth was wrapped about his shoulders; his body tall and lean, muscular but not bulky, and little scars of various sorts littered his arms, crossed over his broad chest. And as the attention of the Firebrand Captain was taken from the tomb to the man, he wasted no time speaking up once more.

"Whatever is inside of that tomb, you can do without. Trust me..." the figure assured him, before strong fingers drew from within his cloak a bottle marked with a strange sigil and held it lightly between them...dangling it before him, "...if it's power you want, this will be more than enough. Just let that feeling that's drawing you inside this tomb go...and walk away."

Quote:
Will you accept the 'Crimson Traveler's' deal?

-Yes, accept the bottle and leave.
-No, refuse the bottle and enter the tomb.

You may take one turn to ask questions, if you wish, but you are not required to do so before giving your answer.

Aselia Bluespirit

"Nn?" The girl inquired, tilting her head as a question-mark appeared beside it. There was a large door in front of her, and the girl poked it a few times with one gauntlet-clad finger just to see what would happen. Random places, random doors... and you never knew what was going to be behind them. It was probably either a really great prize or a monster that was going to try and eat your head... or that's what people kept telling her, at least. Well, it was fine. If there was a giant evil doggy or something, she'd just start whacking it. On the other hand, would it be best to open the door carefully? Decisions, decisions...

Sylphie

"...It's a door." Sylphie said, looking at it. She scratched her head a moment later. She'd been on the way to go see Keira, but now she was standing in front of a door, which meant... "Ah, right, I guess this is just a dream." She put her hands on her hips and nodded firmly. Surprisingly realistic for a dream... or she was under some kind of evil attack by Shadows, in which case she really needed to wake up any second now and tear them apart before they ever hurt her friends again! Grah. This seemed a little too... not-yet-violent for anything related to Shadows, though.

Violet-Haired Traveler
"Nn...Not like this..."

As the monosyllabic girl looked at the girl with some measure of curiosity, there was a sound like the rustling of a tunic nearby...against the wall beside the door, just to the left of where she stood now. Her greenish tunic hung low over her eyes, but the figure was clearly feminine; her violet hair was a bit longer than Aselia's was now, rougher, framing a face with the other half hidden from view. The figure dared not make eye contact with the girl before the tomb, but it was clear from the tension in her limbs and the way her arm gripped lightly at the cuff of Aselia's sleeve, urging her not to go ahead right away, that there was something that needed to be said between them. "Nn...no..." the voice came, familiar, but quiet, "...Don't...enter." And from beneath her cloak emerged a hand, from the opposite side of her body, lined with burn scars marring otherwise lovely pale skin. Within her hand was a bottle marked with a strange sigil, extended to Aselia with a condition...

"Take...this...instead," she requested earnestly, struggling to find the right words...or perhaps to hold back more, "Take it...and leave...now."

Haoul Yamakaji
Haoul turned as a voice called out to him, remarking on how he could do without whatever the tomb had to offer him...And offering him a sort of bottle in exchange. Something about him seemed familiar...yet it was just impossible to tell from a glance who he was...
"How do I know that what you're offering will help me?" Haoul called, unintentionally putting out a rather unpleasant aura. "I've got a lot of power as it is.."
He eyed the drink warily, though he was torn. Part of him wanted to accept the drink and back off... to head back to where he was before. But another part from within called to him...trying to bring him inside the tomb.
"....What's in this tomb, anyways?" he asked, quietly. "What in there's so powerful and intimidating...that someone like me could do without it?
He had to know...He had to know before making his decision.

"Nn." Aselia said, crossing her arms into an 'X' shape. One thing Rednal had been very insistent on was not taking unknown drinks from strangers (thought the girl who'd downed something that gave her water tentacles... hah, like she was going to do that again so quickly). Besides, she sort of got concerned when somebody tried to bribe her and didn't even tell her what the bribe actually was. No, she was heading on inside, and the girl opened the door with a surprising degree of calm... and her weapon at the ready, just in case. You could never be too careful, after all.

"Is it just me, or does this town have a s**t ton of abnormal things happen?" Kensu said as he had walked up to the tomb entrance. He was walking to the classroom when, for some reason, his head became light, and although he had his eyes closed for not more then a second, he had appeared here out of nowhere. He was curious of what was behind it, but from past experiences, he knew that he should atleast be wary of such things. "Well, it looks like I am going to be stuck here for a while. Might as well make use of it."

"Come on, you know I don't force myself onto people. I just show my love"

"Well, I wouldn't really say this is lucky. But I will take it." Yatsuda was recently apprehended by the Embryon for having an App program that allowed himself to summon his friend Yuki-hime. As he was fairly unsure of what might happen to him, he had continued walking with his captors until some odd feeling came over him, and he felt relieved and easier to walk with. Looking around, he saw a tomb entrance and shuttered, fearing what may lay within. He could only barely feel the supernatural energy within, simply because of his relationship with Yuki-hime aided in his sensory abilities in that department, although only bearing small progress. But still, he put his hand onto the tomb entrance, curious of what was inside.

Crimson-Haired Traveler
"How the ******** did everything go so wrong, so fast?"

It was fair to ask questions, and the unpleasant aura wasn't unexpected, either. Haoul was the type who sought power and had reasons for needing it, and if he was to refuse what was calling out to him from within the tomb, he would need a reason. But how much could be said without revealing too much? Did it even matter what he held back? Was it even possible to influence the choice in the end? "It's because you have a lot of power that you don't need it," the figure answered, taking a moment to play towards the Captain's ego (albeit truthfully), "this bottle is more your style...I know it."

And just then, for a single moment that couldn't have lasted more than a couple of seconds, the Traveler's far hand seemed to bubble and melt...as though the skin itself had become molten rock...and as the skin returned to form, a ball of incendiary magma rested there...smoldering with barely-concealed power.

"What's inside that tomb...is a choice," the figure told him in a dark voice, controlled...but haunted, "Pick the wrong one...and that's it. A thousand worlds...you end up like me...searching for a way to change it all, too late." Suddenly the fire within his hand was gone and the skin was just the same as ever. His voice became determined, solid. He had to know the gravity behind this mess was too great to simply go with his instinct to enter.

"Listen to me, Haoul Yamakiji...you are strong, strong enough on your own," he explained plainly, "...Believe in that, and forget about what's inside. I can't say any more than that."

"... Not again. How do I always end up in situations like this? Is it so hard to ask for one normal day?" Colm groaned to himself as he found himself in some other plain. While the man would like to curse his bad luck it really was his fault, he walked through that rift all on his own. 'Though there was this odd feeling.. Like I was supposed to come here. Well I just hope there's no snakes around here.' His golden eyes fell upon the tomb entrance, an intricate door blocking his way. Whatever was inside must've been important, or dangerous. Needless to say either way it sparked Colm's curiosity which had landed him in sticky situations in the past. "Helloooo? Anyone else here? No tour guide? Welcoming Committee?"

White-Cloaked Traveler
"And dawn broke, but the sun never rose again..."

As the young man with the spiked hair, Kensu, made his way towards the front of the tomb there was a sense of being watched surrounding him; the large doors and an open path lay before him yet there was that sinking feeling of something closing in. ...And then a hand on his shoulder broke that feeling and made it tangible, the sense that he was not alone made strikingly real. But as he would turn to see the man whose hand had brushed his shoulder, there was a sudden pressure against his back, a man of similar height leaning against him lightly...though not enough to lose his balance should that support be withdrawn. Back-to-back these two similarly-sized figures stood now on the path before the tomb, one wreathed in a dirty white cloak with a clenched hand held up before hooded eyes...the other having just been drawn here out of his walk to the classroom back in Inaba...two figures whose paths perhaps should never have crossed now brought together through the rift.

"There's nothing for you in that tomb, Kensu," the cloaked figure told him sternly, taking a step away from the man at his back down the path towards the tomb's entrance, keeping his form hidden all the while, "...Go back the way you came; forget this diversion ever existed. And in return, I'll give you this..." Turning slightly in the direction of the protruding arm, the cape flew out of the way and from within a notched belt the young man with the hooded eyes drew and held out between the two of them a bottle with a strange sigil painted onto the front of it. "...If you want power, if you want to be special, this will put you well on your way. ...What do you say?"

Haoul Yamakaji
Haoul listened to the mysterious figure, hearing him talk with him, as if he knew him...
Or maybe..the other way around.. Haoul thought, his hands in his pockets. The way the figure spoke...the way he offered up the bottle...Something about it seemed...
"A Choice..." he called quietly, mulling the idea over. On one hand...he could risk it all, for the sake of power. He could put his faith in his decisions, and risk everything for the sake of an unknown power. Yet...the way the stranger spoke....
His eyebrows raised as the figure's hands seemed to shift, showing that he wasn't alone in the matter of having a sort of power over flames. No..even moreso...
"You can't say anymore than that?" he called, starting past him, and taking a long look at the Tomb. Power....there could be powers untold in there...There could be a whole new level..The kind of thing that could put him at the top....
But...at what cost? How far was he willing to go for power?
"How about showing me the way out of here?" he called, his hands moving to firmly grasp the bottle, with a light smirk. "I'm in a friendly mood today...So I'll help you out..."
He gave a small grin, moving to pull the bottle from the stranger's hands. "I'll let you change the path.." he called, quietly. "I'll take this..and my way home..."
He almost wanted to add on a name....It was on the tip of his tongue..and he could almost tell who the mysterious figure was...
And if he was right... Well, that was for a different time, and place.
