Name: Tree Knocking Obtained: Won in Rise & Co. Stock Taking Naming Dream
Personality Tree Knocking is a bit unpredictable, values her ability to feel the wind in her fur as she runs, and loves to learn. It is definitely hard to get a good read on how she'll react to any situation. There is often times where she'll end up in the same situation and react in a completely different way. In general, she is pleasant to be around. Her unpredictable nature makes it easy for her to get along with those that are considered strange. If there is something for her to learn, then she becomes an eager student with the desire to impress. Freedom is something she considers important, so she tends to go running often to stretch her legs and take full advantage of her ability to be free.
Winning Entry Applying for: supplier - other / delivery Relevant skills: can build little ponds to cultivate salt, can run fast, knows the swamp well, can definitely handle things herself, and has developed a technique for getting fruits off of trees. Entry: Tree Knocking was quite excited. She had managed to perfect her dish. The plan was to present it to Rise and Co. in the hopes they would allow her to join their prestigious ranks. That meant she had to pull out her special recipe. It was rather hard to make if one didn't have the skills to acquire the main ingredient. That would be fish and not just any small fish, it had to be a good sized one. The biggest she had ever managed was around a foot in length. She carefully split it open with a sharp rock. The key to her dish was that you didn't cook it. Raw fish tasted perfectly fine without cooking if you seasoned it correctly. Tree Knocking gathered some salt from her salt pond and rubbed it on the fish. Then she sprinkled some small bits of seaweed on the fish. Sometimes one could find seaweed washed up on closer to the ocean. She had experimented and found it was very much edible. Then she sliced some onion with her sharp rock to finish off her dish. That would do. Now was the time, she sincerely hoped they liked it. She slid it onto a piece of stiff bark so that it wouldn't fall off as she carried it. Tree Knocking pranced nervously when she saw Rise but then gained confidence. Her stride was sure and steady as she approached him. She placed the fish down and cleared her throat. “I made this dish that I call raw fish delight.” A smile spread across her face. “I can tell you how I made it if you like it. Please try it. It would be an honor to join and I can cultivate my own salt too.” There was eagerness on the edge of her words. Oh, she wanted this badly.
winners will find themselves able to push past what should be the last of their mental, emotional, and physical reserves, capable of enduring past what their bodies or minds would normally be capable of. This comes at the cost of exhaustion later, oftentimes a hard and long crash of at least a day, but it is invaluable in life or death situations and over long distances. This does not grant them additional physical strength--they cannot lift more than they would normally be able to.
Stone winners receive the same benefit as above, but to a lesser extent and with a harder crash afterwards (generally at least two days of exhaustion). x x x x x
Wolf and Crane winners receive the same benefits as butterfly winners, with the additional benefit that they now have a strange power to command the attention of entire crowds for short lengths of time. No matter how feisty the throng, they will find themselves compelled to listen to what the Wolf and Crane have to say--at least for a few minutes. Whether they keep listening is entirely dependent on how well the Wolf and Crane make their case.
