Class
NAME OF CLASS: Arts and Crafts 101
PROFESSOR NAME: Professor Zixil Braxton

General information:
The Arts and Crafts room is tucked away in the corner - one way in and out, which is just how the teacher likes it. The classroom looks normal enough from the outside, with its standard door and numberplate (with an added addendum by the teacher, his name and the class title added on a piece of Muck Tape). The inside, however, looks like someone found all of the weird, eclectic stuff within a five mile radius, ate it, and then vomited it all up. The teacher has either completely lost his mind, or is trying way, way too hard. The cabinets that line the walls are partially filled with beginner art supplies: slime-based paints, earwax crayons, and...glitter, a thing so evil that it can be known by no other name.

Mechanics:
Your Most Excellent Professor isn't going to fill your head with crazy ideas. That's all up to you!

Upon entering the class, roll 1d100 to determine your Muse Level (ML).

Muse Level 1-20

Woah, you can't make art with a Muse Level this low! Go stare longingly at your first crush, or listen to emotional music, or cry it out! We can't have you making anything that's worth less than 20 silver seeds beneath your actual capabilities.

Muse Level 21-50

Did you dip yourself in paint and roll your face over the canvas? That's not going to be acceptable. Nobody will want to buy this. Or look at it. Not even kind of.

Muse Level 51-80

Looks like you might have the right idea. Go ahead and give it a shot. I guess the worst thing that could happen is you ruin everything, but that's okay.

Muse Level 81-100

Got a real overachiever here! Creativity is oozing from your pores (seriously clean that stuff up please)!

If you roll 1-50, you will need to make another attempt. A roll of 51-100 allows you to proceed. The above information correlating to your ML gives you a good idea of how your student will be approaching this assignment.

If you succeeded in developing a passable Muse Level, you will then need to roll a 1d10 to determine to overall success of your drawing/painting/sculpture etc. Feel free to pick whatever medium you'd like!

1-3 You really poured yourself into this one, but the Professor isn't quite feeling it. Take it home and pin it on your wall, because that's all you're getting. (Fail. You'll have to make another attempt!)
4-9 You paid careful attention to details, color schemes, and - most importantly - marketability. Professor Braxton smashes a sickly note to your body with a sloppy "A" written on it, because ruining the art would be a travesty. As far as you can tell, you've done a good thing. (Pass!)
10 You are a prodigy! This thing belongs in a museum! Or the home of the highest bidder! Your artwork will be displayed in front of the entire class. Hope you're not shy. (SUPER-PASS!)

You must RP your student creating their...well, whatever they make.

Bonus Mechanics:
•If you include a DRAWN representation of the piece of art that your student creates, you can automatically add 2 to your success roll, ultimately bringing up their final score. These drawings do not have to be anything fantastic, and can be as detailed or non-detailed as you want.

•Any student who is able to use magic to create illusions can roll 1d4 to determine how amazing their artwork appears. Which is what matters. If you roll even, you can add 1 point. If you roll odd, no points can be added. This can not be combined with the 2 points you can add when including an image.

•Any student who lacks dexterity (lookin' at you, claw-handed monsters) can roll 1d4 to determine their ability to talk Professor Braxton into believing that the piece of art's concept is going over his head and is, in fact, a true masterpiece. If you roll even, you can add 1 point. If you roll odd, no points can be added. This can not be combined with the 2 points you can add when including an image.

Each visit to the classroom has the potential to span multiple posts due to the amount of dice rolls. You can interact with other students, try to steal their concepts - whatever you'd like to play out!

YOU COMPLETE THE CLASS WHEN

You pass the class!

Sin was rather ashamed of herself, she'd been letting things distract her from her true purpose at Amityville, learning. As much as she'd like to spend more time with her boilfriend, FEARleading, or investigating the oddities of the school she knew she had to start going to more classes. She was bound and determined to broaden her horizons and be open minded so she had decided to take classes that she never would have considered in her first year at Amity.

Arts and Crafts was something she enjoyed but had left off her schedule originally because her mother had declared it impractical. Well after taking Moira's class on finding practical uses out of garbage Sin was sure she could apply the same principle to this. Not to mention she enjoyed letting her artistic side out once in a while, it was like fashion or decor.

Just incase the class wasn't as enjoyable as she'd have liked she decided to drag along her boilfriend. She and Rosc would get to spend a little quality time together and they could both learn something, even if Rosc only learned he hated arts and crafts...or loved it. After seeing him in action at the attack of the school gates she knew he had at least the minor potential for socialization in him. She kept her arm wound through his lovingly, but her grip was a bit more firm than if she'd just been strolling with him, no she was going to make sure he didn't kiss her at the door and ditch her.

Sin was worried she'd be tempted to turn and ditch herself when she saw the near chaotic state of the room. From the outside it hadn't looked bad, she imagined long benches with sketchpads and models...and instead she entered to find earwax crayons and....was that glitter? Why in Jack's name would anyone put glitter in a classroom? No one was such an insane artist to want to use that stuff! Were they?

Rosciel didn't want to be here. No, he really didn't. He loved spending time with Sin, but this... This was asking far too much of him. He didn't do art. Music was one thing, that was his forte (no pun intended). Painting, drawing, sculpting? He'd never even contemplated touching the stuff. Was kind of hard when you couldn't really see well.

But then, Sin had wanted him to come, and he was forever trying to please her.
His already pale face blanched at the chaotic mess that was the room. It didn't take a genius to imagine that the colors would have blinded him. It didn't help matters that Rosc was really a very tidy person. He hated disorder, at least to a certain degree and this... He had to take a slow, deep breath before he could let Sin pull him farther into the room.

Sin wasn't exactly thrilled with the mess of the room, and even less thrilled by the way Rosc seemed to stiffen with offense at it all, at least he couldn't make out the insane hodgepodge of colors. Still she wasn't going to back out now she had her future to think about, and the more classes she had under her belt the better. She pulled Rosc in a little more and looked at him with a smile that was forced at first but then she noticed the soft glow behind his sunglasses, the way his blonde hair settled around his horns, and his lips set into a serious line that she knew he always tried to quirk for her. She lightly stroked his arm her grip loosening up a bit and her smile turning genuine.

She looked back at the wild mess of art supplies and crafting tools and decided it wouldn't be so bad. She had Rosc here, he was like her muse, with him near she could probably manage something lovely...or passable she hoped.

"How would you feel about being my model?" She grinned and moved in to sit down. It was a little hard to know where to start without having more specific directions from the Professor, but she supposed art wasn't really like that.

Rosc seemed almost frozen for a few moments, still trying to get over the mess that was the room. A tug on his arm seemed to bring him at least part of the way out of his stupor, he tilted his head down slightly, giving Sin his attention. She was smiling up at him and that chased away the majority of the rest of his annoyance.
He let out a sigh and shook his head with a small smile just for her.

"I can't believe you're dragging me into this," he said, but there was a hint of amusement in his tone and it wasn't as if he was objecting to anything. The disbelief in his voice was just as amusing. He followed her to the table and sat down, resting his cheekbone on the backs of his knuckles, elbow propped up on the table. He was glad that he wasn't wearing his jacket or one of his long-sleeve shirts today. Te first place his set his arm down, he had to move it and brush... Jacking hell, was that glitter he brushed from his elbow?

He glanced up when SIn asked him a question.
"Hmm? If you really want to. I'd offer the same, but it won't turn out well." He paused, reaching out to brush the fingers of his other hand lightly over her cheek. The glow behind his glasses flickered a little.

Sin helped him brush off the glitter, but she knew they would both probably end up with the STD's (Sparkly Transmitted Disease) for a few days. No matter how much she scrubbed in the shower she always tended to find glitter in the oddest places after having a brush with the stuff. After the old haunted house expedition she remembered finding it on her cheeks, in her hair, and clinging to her eyelashes for a week. The stuff was horrid in how completely invasive it could be.

"It's good for you to at least try something new, besides it isn't exactly strenuous work. Isn't it nice to be able to just let your creative juices flow and enjoy the class without strict requirements?" She perused the selection of materials, part of her wanted to try something advanced, but she knew better.

Rather than going for a hunk of marble and a chisel she unwrapped a lump of clay. Her nails were somewhat of a help and hindrance as she started to sculpt Rosc in miniature.

"I don't know, trying something new can be a bad thing," he replied with a shrug as he watched her get things to start her work. He wasn't getting anything, nothing was coming to mind. He really, really didn't want to be here. And yet he did. Spending time with Sin, even being bored and surrounded by clutter, he still liked being here as long as he was with her.

He rose an eyebrow in questioning.
"Let the creative juices flow? Sin, you know me better than that. My art is in my music, not in..."
He paused, gesturing around at the classroom. "This chaos."

Sin started to mold her little Rosc the basic shape of him wasn't too hard. She managed the head and shoulders, a passable chest and waist, but the legs gave her some pause. She pinched and kneaded trying to get them to look proper before changing it so he was sitting. She started to work on the arms and looked at him.

"Yes well...I tried music...the trumpet is certainly not where my artistic flair lays. Maybe you have more talents than you think?"

She brushed back a strand of hair and then cringed as she realized she'd streaked some clay along her forehead and into her perfectly conditioned tresses.

"Ugh...though art is awfully...messy."

She moistened her fingers again and continued carefully kneading and working the clay into what was an incubus sort of shape.

"Not my fault that Blue stuck you with something even I cringe at," Rosc replied, his small smile morphing quickly into a smirk when she got clay all over her forehead. Without a word, he leaned forward and gently wiped it away. Or at least the best he could do. His attention was drawn to the wet clay for a moment, rubbing it between his fingers. He didn't like it, it was messy and cold. Now there were types of clay that didn't have to be wet to work with, he knew that, but had no inclination of working with it. He just didn't do art.

Sin's hands drew his attention again as she continued to work on her sculpture. The smirk on his face couldn't help but grow.
"You keep working at it like that and you'll give a demon ideas." While his posture remained cool, even a little relaxed now, his tone dripped innuendo if the look on his face wasn't enough.

[Muse Level - Too Low. Rosc just doesn't like Art, apparently]

Her lips quirked into a slow smile and she smoothed wings onto her little clay Rosc with gentle fingers.

"What? You can't blame me for having a fine appreciation for my favorite form..."

She tried to keep her voice down so the professor wouldn't overhear, though maybe he would think their flirtation was just a part of the creative process. It was certainly giving her some creative ideas. She broadened the sculptures chest a little bit.

Then a moment of mischief hit her and she lightly stroked her clay slippery fingers over his.

"How do you like it so far?" She moved his hand lightly over the general shape of her replica, none of the details were quite there yet.

One eyebrow rose over his sunglasses and Rosc's smirk faltered slightly. Oh, she was a temptress all right, and he wouldn't have her any other way.
"There are plenty of other ways to show your appreciation, my swan." His reply was just as low as hers had been. He never said his nickname for her loud enough for another to hear. It was special, a name only he used and he didn't want anyone else to try. It was a silly possession, but it was his. Something they never had to share with anyone else.

Upon request, he surveyed the sculpture.
"You are good with your hands." Oddly enough, the answer was honest, no innuendo, simply a compliment on how she was doing.

She smiled and started to carefully look over the tools available, some she had no idea what to do with. She picked one up and ran it along a spare chunk of clay creating a ripple effect. Hmm, she tried another and managed deep gashes, another created smooth scoops. She decided to work on his legs and torso first starting to add some detail.

Sin wasn't skilled enough to manage anything fancy, no actual texture to the fabric of his pants. She rolled out and flattened some small clay strips to serve as the bandages on his chest.

"There must be something in here that draws your interest, if not drawing or sculpting...how about a craft...like a...nightmare catcher? paper minipet?"

Rosc sighed and shook his head as she continued trying to find something he could do.
"So much of this... It doesn't work for me, Sin, you know that. Besides, it's less of a matter of how, more what. All my art is in my music, what can I make out of this?" He hadn't liked the way one of the tools she'd tried made deep gashes in the clay, but he said nothing. He couldn't help how what little color he had left drained from his face as she did so. But then she was working with something else and he did his best to think of other things, ways he could actually be productive.

With nothing better to do, and taking Sin's suggestion, he picked up a piece of paper and started... Well, frankly, he was playing with it. His movements had little guiding or intention, just playing with the paper, folding here and there.

[Muse Level - High enough, FINALLY]

PostPosted: Sun Apr 28, 2013 3:47 pm

Sin glanced at him from beneath her lashes and tried not to frown when she realized how much paler he was. Was being in here such a hardship? Then she realized...the tool in her hand was carefully scraping across the likeness of him and she almost dropped it. Her teeth worried her lower lip as she hesitated in continuing. She hadn't considered how badly he would react to the mimicry of marks. She slowly set the tool down and smoothed the clay a bit with her fingers trying to pretend nothing had happened.

"Well..."

Perhaps she was almost done with this particular work of art anyway. She ran her fingers carefully over the clay and let her nails make the faint marks of his wings and hair. The professor would probably come by and pass or fail her soon anyway, hopefully her first attempt at sculpture wasn't a total loss.

"I'm almost done and we can go have lunch?"

"I'm good with lunch," Rosc replied, not saying anything when she set the tool she'd been using aside. Had he shown his discomfort? No doubt. He needed a better control over that.

"It looks good, Sin. Really."
Honestly, he didn't think she really needed the confidence boost. But just in case, did no harm to him giving it. Not to her at least.
"Where would you like to go for lunch?" The question seemed off-handed, his attention focused on the paper now since he wanted to at least try and make something passable.

[Damn, Rosc, when you get that muse going...]
