Although Nergui had not charged straight into battle after everything had been explained by the Lord Death, that did not mean she wasn't eager. History had begun to show that charging blindly into things was not always a wise course of action. Strong allies would be needed here, and the priestess had luckily made friends with one few. The cheiftan Shaheen had been the easiest to find, and so she'd started here, then soon found Eitri after.
When she'd left their company she'd run into Fai, not someone she was altogether familiar with, but one of the original survivers and a face the dark skinned mare was used to seeing. When he'd expressed interest, of course she'd invited him along as well.
Now she was back through the portal, Leather armor hugging her petite frame. Ready for whatever they may run into beyond the walls of the distortion tower.

Fai was dressed in his robes--layers of clothing to cover and protect. He didn't have any leather armor, although he was wondering if he should get some. Honestly, he hadn't been this sober in months, he thought as he watched the others. His black eyes were clear and intelligent, focused on exactly what was going on--unlike the dull, disinterested look he'd had before finding out about beating insanity.
Perhaps--just perhaps they could have their isles back. Maybe even the ones they had lost. His heart pounded and he checked his distortion crystal again, making triple sure that it had recovered.
"I thank you for allowing me to come along," he said to Nergui with a bow of his head. "This is... very important to me."

Eitri meandered around the portal for hours. He'd made the decision to return home and assess the situation as logically as possible; strengthen and repairing his armor, prepare weapons and allowed his crystal to recharge. He had seen Ying and was relieved to find her alive and unharmed. He told her of his plans to go through the portal - to fight for the isles and she had informed him of her intentions to go along with him. He might have said no if she was any other horseman; but he was aware she wouldn't take 'no' for an answer and took comfort in the fact that if she was with him, he could protect her.
It was at the portal that Neru and Shaheen had found him and he had agreed to join them without hesitation. After all; this could be the secret to getting their home back. He could see it for the first time in a long time. This was his way of making up for lost time.. Making up for not being there when it fell. And so there he was, on the other side of the portal, staring out into the distance at the ruins before them. He turned to Ying and gently patted her head. "Don't get into trouble, okay? Stay close."

Shaheen was never one to turn down a friend who was asking for help, and while her and the Priestess of Death weren't exactly incredibly close, she did feel as though they held a mutual respect for each other. So, when the woman sought her out for this task, it was without hesitation that she had agreed. The grey might have began its steady trek across her features again, and the whispers might have started anew in her mind as the injection of distortion Shik had given her wore off, but that was no reason to balk at what needed to be done.
Still, as she stood staring through that portal at the ruined and grey world beyond, her wings twitched nervously behind her. She wore much the same as usual, only enough clothing to cover what needed covering and barely even that. Her arms were adorned with leather bracers, her feet bare with only dust and dirt to protect them.
With golden eyes set in black she stared, then finally with a small shake of her head turned towards the others. Ying, Nergui, and Fai she knew, but the large man from Death she did not. She had given him quick appraisal on arrival, however, and deemed him fit enough for such a journey without even a word spoken.
"So. Shall we proceed, then?" Her voice was rough, almost as though she had been screaming recently.
She was not one to stand around wasting time.

Ying wrapped her tinier hands around the arm patting her head. "You have to stay safe too, friend! I am not safe if you are not safe!" she encouraged him, anxious smile on her face.
The distortion crystal hanging in her hair swirled with similar feelings, mixed and anxious. Prepared. "I only hope we are ... not too late." Shaheen then spoke and Ying nodded to her question.
"Yes friends, we should move quickly and silently. I would not want to stir any sleeping beasts," she murmured, gripping Eitri's arm a little more tightly. She just wanted them to be safe.

A rathere fierce smile was beginning to form upon dark lips. The priestess had always enjoyed a good battle, and though far more important then anything else they had faced so far, this was indeed a battle. The severity of their situation had certainly not escaped her, but she was eager, even excited as she stood with the others. Finally, the vision she had seen when the echo of the phoenix had fallen was coming to be. The glimpses of tress, caves, gardens, and forges that had risen from the flames of insanity.
Home
Yes. Yes, they were home. It was covered in Insanity and savage beasts, but they were here, fighting to reclaim it. How could she not be excited?
"Let us be on our way then," she answered the group, looking to each of them before moving from the safety of the tower of distortion and out into the chaotic landscape beyond. She could see the gargantuan shadows of colossal creatures moving on the horizon, and she pointed with the blackened blade of her scimitar as it came to life in her hand. Claiming a target far off before them, some tall creature with many legs.

Fai hesitated as he saw it, wondering if his new technology could take a picture of it in this area-- (yes, he still had a stolen phone. It didn't call out, but it still took pictures!) He brought out the phone, lifting it up and taking a snap of the multilegged beast. "Fascinating," he said.
Oh, right, he thought, time to summon the weapons.
That had totally been his first thought. Right.
Fai summoned his meteor ball, letting it dangle from the chain as he watched the creature move closer.

Eitri positioned himself between Ying and the beast in the distance. It was still out of attack range - or so it seemed - but he wasn't going to let his guard down anytime soon. His weapon appeared in his hand, the rough leather of the handle a comforting and familiar feeling. Fingers curled tightly and he took off at a light jog, aiming to close the distance between them and the titan. His speed increased a little and over his shoulder, he grinned.
"Last one there has to buy me a drink!"
He was perhaps having a little too much fun with this. It had been some time since he had seen battle and while he was no member of the War clan, he could see the appeal. There was nothing like a good fight to get your adrenaline pumping. He wanted to strike fast; to get this over as quickly as possible before any other Titans showed up or anyone got seriously hurt.

"Truly, you war horsemen do not seem to realize that the best drink is not bought at all," Fai commented, now casually using his meteor ball as something akin to a yoyo. "The best drinks are made. The purest fruit from the vine, raised with loving care, plucked, pressed, and fermented. Toss in a tiny bit of venom for that last kick, ahhh, I'm making myself thirsty."
Really, he was taking this absolutely serious. ABSOLUTELY serious.

Shaheen heard something about a race and everything else flitted right out of her mind. She had followed after most of the others, taking long strides on toned and tanned legs, trying to ignore the whispers that wanted so desperately to invade her mind once more. But at the word of a race? A race to a battle?
A large expanse of wings unfurled behind her, kicking up grey dust as powerful beats had her rising in the air. She cared not for the mans declaration that the last to arrive would be buying him a drink, she only cared about one thing.
Victory. Proving she would be the one to get there first.
"He." She pointed to Eitri who was jogging off towards the Titan, and addressed Fai. "Is not of war. That is why he is going to lose."
She then took off after him, cutting through the air like a knife through butter on wings that any horsemen could and should have been proud of.
Horse race.

So it was a race they wanted? Well, Nergui was not one to shy from competition. Grinning fiercely she took off after the chieftain, quick and agile. Not quite as fast, but certainly not slow. She kept up, and unless Eitri was going all out, she'd perhaps even catch him.
Their little game would let them cover ground quickly and within minutes they would come upon their target. A great, skittering beast with firey eyes and much too many legs. It let our a screech of a noise as they neared it. A mix between a roar, and some almost metallic scraping. Rough on the ears.
Nergui gave a hiss as she slid to a stop, fingers tightening against the hilt of her scimitar as she stared up at the beast. "Ugly thing, isn't it?"
Best not to waste any time. The thing seemed riled up by their mere presence, and it would surely grow more so enraged as they moved to attack it. She watched those arching, sweeping limbs, and when a chance came, she would claim it, darting in for a clean swipe at it's body. She felt the blade hit, the curve sinking into whatever the beast called flesh, and she rode it down, lengthening that gash before finally pulling free and dodging away.

By "silently and quickly" Ying had of course meant SCREAM YOUR HEAD OFF. Thanks Eitri.
Shaking hands summoned her familiar navy bow, taking aim at the beast. This was a bit scary, actually. She would defend her comrades, certainly, but it wouldn't be done valiantly. As the ground shook beneath her, she could feel her heart beating perfectly in time.
One arrow knocked. This was no big deal. Just like shooting humans. Yes, just like humans. Only bigger. Enormous actually. "Please be safe, friends!"
