Though the day's forecast had called for rain later in the afternoon, the sun hung low in the sky, shining as brilliantly as Dove figured was possible, though a part of her wished it wasn't. It would resolve this whole outing immediately, were it to start storming now, but her stubborn half, determined to overcome her doubts, delighted in how little an excuse she had not to be there.
So now she stood at the end of the deck, taking a deep breath as she nervously tugged her beach sweater up and off, exposing the markings of recent wounds and a white bathing suit top, as Lovey sat at her feet, watching her trainer's attempts to 'get used to it'.
Dove sighed, feeling incredibly small now, as she folded the sweater and tucked it into her bag. She would get over this, but hiding away and refusing herself something as simple as a walk on the beach with the sun on her skin because she might be seen wasn't going to help in the slightest. Even if she was a model... and possibly damaged. She shook the thought from her head and stepped into the sand, facing yet another challenge, this time, of recent familiarity with even more scarring events, these unseen.
The last time she had found herself here hadn't been pleasant in the slightest, and had set her on a path that she wasn't completely sure she understood herself. This time, she wouldn't have to worry... Today was meant to relax and overcome.
It would be okay.
Her goals pressed to the forefront of her mind, she stood at the ocean's edge, unsure of which way to start walking.

As the pokemon tilted its head in apparent confusion, the girl's brows furrowed. She drew her hand back, as it didn't approach her, and instead settled for looking at it. "Alright, I'll guess you're not Distance, then..." she sighed, tucking her hair back. Tymiko was no where in sight, though she supposed that didn't really mean all that much. If it wasn't the familiar eevee, only evolved, it had to at least be related in some way. However, she refrained from voicing her thoughts just yet and instead looked down the beach in the direction from which it had come, wondering if it had a companion.
Lovey stepped forward, then. she explained.

Dove looked carefully at the figure, then looked to the Jolteon again, deciding that the person further along down the beach might be its trainer, or at least might know where the pokemon had come from. Though she hadn't planned on purposefully making acquaintance with anyone while so vulnerable, she was curious about the coloration of the electric-type's coat, and after a moment more, decided to pursue an answer, choosing to walk along the shore in the person's direction--though she refused herself the luxury and safety of her sweater, pushing herself to get over her discomfort.
Lovey smiled brightly, and waved her tail again, watching as her trainer started off. She giggled.

Lovey smiled even brighter at the evolution's enthusiasm, but blinked as it took off without waiting to see if she would follow. With a laugh and the knowledge that she would never win against the pup, no matter how quick she might be, the eevee took off after the new friend, flying past her trainer.
Dove paused as the two pokemon zipped by, then continued forward, only to pause again as she recognized the figure laying--now sitting-- in the sand. Immediately, a heavy feeling of insecurity washed over her, and she hugged her sweater closer to her middle; she wouldn't put it on, but at least it would deter a good look at her sides, and it wouldn't count as giving in... not really.
With a calm and warm smile, she stepped closer again, looking as though she was afraid she might be intruding. "Hey, Luke," she greeted with a wave, looking again to the pokemon as Lovey barked playfully to the Jolteon. Her eyes quickly sought out the boy again, soon after. "Is this energetic little Jolteon yours?" she asked, giggling a bit as Lovey flopped into the sand closeby.

Lovey rubbed her head and mane against Luke's hand until satisfied with her greeting--and his attention-- then moved toward the Jolteon again, smiling brightly.
Dove smiled contently, nodding at his appraisal of the pokemon's state, then listened carefully as he offered report of his own well-being. Though she didn't miss the slight skip in his expression, she held her smile, hoping the lightness of his tone was a better reflection of how he really felt. "Well, that's...good, I guess?" she laughed softly, though it faded somewhat too quickly. "I suppose I'm kind of in the same place." Sort of. She was aware of the extremely high probability that their situations were vastly different, but the assessment seemed to fit her situation just as well, even if for reasons she would assume would be held in much less regard in other's minds than her own opinion.
After a moment's pause--perhaps a bit too long-- she tilted her head. "What have you been up to? Training?" she asked, giving a meaningful glance toward the Jolteon he had said just evolved. She supposed her question could have included gun training, but she refrained from being specific, unwilling to bring up what had seemed to be an uneasy topic so soon in their conversation, if ever.
