The Tell-Tales

These kin believe that all things that happen have happened before and will happen again. They collect all stories and legends from any who are willing to tell them, as well as weaving their own tales of events they witness. Since kin don’t have a written system (per say) they rely on the spoken word and oral traditions. They are historians and story tellers, entertainers and scholars.

Tribe founding

It started with a single kin, willing to throw everything away for the chance to learn more. A kin who, even when faced with being branded a traitor and death, decided to wander from the swamp in search of stories from the kin from out of the swamp. It was fortunate then, for the kin, that they were ill prepared for the journey, and collapsed in the border lands. This kin may well have died there too, either from starvation or from heartache knowing they were leaving the swamp. But a totoma happened by, one of broad shoulders and strong back. The toma carried the kimeti back to the swamp. When the kin awoke, the toma asked what brought the kimeti out here. Hearing that they were searching for stories and histories of the other kin, the toma began telling what few stories they could from back in the mountains. Mostly, they were of other totoma earning their names. But the kin was hooked, needing more stories. The toma decided to help, since the kimeti could not easily leave the swamp, the toma would bring stories from the mountains.

Eventually, word spread that there were kin searching for the histories and legends of the other kin, and those with the same passion would soon find themselves seeking each other out to share their stories.

Homestead

For the most part, the kin are always on the move. They have a ‘meeting ground’ in the north-central part of the swamp. They are always coming and going, but sharing stories whenever they meet. There is likely to always be a few members around their ‘meeting grounds’ at any given time, so should any passers by happen upon their little slice of home, there are stories to be told and things to learn.

They do love going to Ghost Thistle’s mound, as some of the best stories seem to start there.

Stories

The histories told by these kin should all be taken with a grain of salt. The group are storytellers, after all. It wouldn't be unlikely that they spice up a story now and then. Some favorite myths are the creation of the other races of kin, and why the seasons change.

Tribe roles: There really aren’t any set rolls for the tribe. They all exist for the collection and passing of stories and histories. Though sometimes, stories conflict and contradict each other. Then the tribe founder will listen to the stories, and ‘figure out’ which one is truth (or mostly truth).

Joining

The tribe isn’t picky about who comes and goes. Joining is easy, just come with a story. (note: This will require any applicant to make up a story about the swamp, and hopefully encourage world building.) The stories don’t have to be elaborate, but they do have to be entertaining. If a kin is accepted, their mission from then on is to gather stories from all reaches of the swamp, and beyond if they can.

Loyalty

No one could care less if you were a part of other tribes, as long as you don’t discriminate among Tell-Tale members. In fact, they encourage the joining of other tribes to share tales with them, and learn about each tribe, where each kin came from. Just as long as you swing on by their base camp once in a while to share the stories. Children born into the tribe are not expected to stay with them. It’s always greatly enjoyed should a young one find a passion for story telling, but the tribe won’t force any to stay with them.

Opinion on others

The tribe accepts all kin from all walks of life. In fact, they crave meeting kin from outside the swamp to expand their knowledge and stories. They believe all kin came from the swamp, and thus are welcome to return. It’s their belief that the swamp will only grow stronger with the return of the outland kin.
