It had been difficult to leave Luke's hospital room, but she imagined it would have been much more difficult to have stayed much longer, not when she felt like she would fall apart at any second from just being around him.

A note was left for him before she took her leave
"I hope you got enough sleep by the time you read this.
I'm glad I got to see you, Sera and I will stop by and see you again later today~
Rosie <3
and Kiss Kiss."

Her legs were heavy, her entire body was heavy, and the only thing she could seem think about wasn't helping.
She knew she couldn't be alone right now, or she could just start crying again from the emotional weight, and she really really was trying to stop crying so much.
So, Seraphine was sent a text the moment she got out of the hospital, asking her friend to meet her at her house, that she had some things to tell her about Luke.
Sera would want to know... even if it was going to be hard to say.

Rosie had just moved out of her uncles house, a choice she had made a month back, one that her and her cousin Rodney had both made. They had picked a small cozy townhouse in the city, located close to the university so that Rodney could easily take his bike to school.

Most of her things were unpacked, but like any new home, piles of opened boxes still scattered much of the home's corners, and occupying most of the couch, leaving the blond to lay on the ground, staring at the ceiling fan, waiting for her friend.

Rosie wouldn't need to wait too terribly long before a knock echoed softly from the door. On the other side waited Seraphine, standing a little impatiently as she shifted her weight from foot to foot, her fingers lightly rubbing at the bandages that covered her left arm and the cuts from the glass. Had she still had both hands, its twin would've been on her right arm and those bandages, too - she'd had to change them after the long shower she so desperately needed, and now the wrappings were bothering her. Maybe it was something with the superficial wounds, or maybe it was that there was something wrapped a little too snugly around both arms, or maybe something else entirely, but all she knew was that it made her a little uncomfortable, especially her right arm. The bandages wound up around her wrist and covered part of her hand, restricting the amount of movement which, honestly, made things all the more difficult given that was the only hand she had to work with.

In all likelihood, what bothered her most was the tone of Rosie's text. It wasn't 'let's talk about Luke' or 'we need to talk about him,' it was 'I have some things to tell you about him' and that in and of itself just made her that much more anxious. He was going to be fine though, right? Right, he had to be. What reason did she have to be so nervous? None, absolutely none. Still, despite her internal reasoning, she couldn't push away the persistent feelings of anxiousness and dread.

Anastasia waited beside her, looking just as impatient as her owner, though rather than be impatient herself, Sera's varying emotions and quiet, mild distress only served to bother her, and her ignorance of just why her owner was behaving so strangely didn't help matters in the least.

Rosie gave a slow blink to the ceiling when the sound of a knock broke the silence of the room, but otherwise she didn't move right away.
the pokemon around her lifted their heads, looking from the door, to the unmoved Rosie.

".. Vapor..." Vany'n cooed lightly,

Rolling her head to the side, letting her eyes fall on the door for a couple of seconds before she managed to drag herself to her feet.

That was Sera, good, Rosie looked forward to seeing her friend, even if the news wasn't all good.
Opening the door, the blond put on a smile when she saw her friend, feeling just as pleased to see her as she looked.
Though it wasn't long before the sight of a familiar face that she trusted and cared about disarmed her completely, and Rosie's smile suddenly fell as tears welled up in her eyes with a pathetic whimper. "Seraaaa"

Hm, so much for not crying.

...was Rosie not home? She had to be home, she'd invited her over.. Was she busy with something? Maybe she was in the bathroom, or busy in the kitchen... Or maybe she had music on and didn't hear her? With a soft frown, the brunette was about to knock a second time when she saw the door open, and her brows raised as she looked to her friend. She opened her mouth to greet her when suddenly the blonde pretty much quietly wailed her name and had tears in her eyes. Startled and confused - and with a sudden concern that she had done something to elicit such a response from her best friend - Sera moved forward to raise her arms, putting her hand on one of Rosie's shoulders and bending that elbow while the other remained outstretched as she rested the end of her other arm on the blonde's other shoulder. It was the only equivalent of putting her hands on her friend's shoulders that she was able to do, given the fact she only had one hand to do it with, and it left her quite a bit closer than it would've if she'd had both hands to work with. Not that she really seemed to mind any of that at this point, as a look of concern and confusion (and worry that she'd done something terrible or something) overtook her expression. "Rosie, what's wrong? What happened?"

In a very feeble attempt to stop the tears the blond had lifted her hands, trying to brush the tears away with her palms only to find that it was a futile battle, she had better luck in the one against the Rockets.
"I-I'm s-sorry." the blond whimpered trying to get her words out between breaths.
"I w-wasn't g-going to c - c- cry!"
giving up she clasped her hands over her face, hunching forward and just stepping into Sera when her friend put her hands on her shoulders, reaching out to hug her. "I d-don't know what t-to doooo."
PostPosted: Tue Sep 10, 2013 11:01 pm
If it were possible for Sera's eyebrows to go any higher, they would've achieved liftoff and disappeared into her hair or something. What the hell had happened? What was wrong, why was she crying? What did she do? s**t, she was so bad at this sort of thing. When Rosie hugged her, Sera didn't hesitate to return it, though after a few seconds she made motions towards ushering her blonde, weepy friend back into her own house so she wouldn't stand crying her eyes out on the doorstep. She didn't stray too far out of reach, of course, preferring to stay as close as she could since it was painfully obvious how much her friend needed a hug right now. "It's okay," she replied a little awkwardly, though she had no idea just what, exactly, she was calling okay, "everything's fine. What's wrong?" What had happened? Had she called her over so she could cry or something? No, she would've mentioned it.. She'd asked her over to tell her something about Lu--...she'd asked her over to tell her something about Luke. She'd asked her over to tell her something about Luke, it had taken her much too long to answer the door (even though it actually hadn't), and she'd started crying pretty much the instant she opened the door. A sudden, nearly painful worry welled up in the pit of her stomach, chilling the blood in her veins and rendering her practically frozen in place. She was almost too afraid to ask, but finally managed to find her voice long enough to ask in softer tones, "Is it about Luke?"

Anastasia, meanwhile, circled the pair very anxiously, her ears slicked back against her head as the negative emotions practically slid off the two girls, and it made her very anxious and uncertain. What had happened? What had she missed when Sera had left with her friends the day before? What was wrong? With a pitiful whine, the Umbreon finally flopped her rump down onto the ground, her expression practically a pout due to the difference between how much she knew and how much she didn't know. The gap had ever widened in her long absence, and only seemed to grow wider still with every passing day.

Rosie didn't even register that they were moving, but didn't fight against her friend's attempts to get her back into the house, but not letting go either.
She couldn't answer the first question, almost as if she didn't know how, until she asked if it was about Luke.

Pulling back a little to press a hand to her face Rosie nodded, not looking up as tears continued to drop onto the tiles on the entry way.
"H-he... he can't walk." she somehow managed to lift her head to look at Seraphine "S-said he c-can't even f- feel his l- legs." she finally burst out with more sobs.

At Rosie's words, Seraphine halted, looking up at her friend, her expression slowly morphing to one of confusion and disbelief. "...what?" No, that couldn't be right. There had to be some mistake. He couldn't just not feel his legs anymore, that was absurd. Ludicrous. He still had them, right? "But..." But why couldn't he feel them? No, there had to be some mistake. Still, no matter how hard she tried to deny it, to brush it aside, Rosie's tears and sorrowful demeanor prevented her from believing in her own denial. But, no.. There had to be some sort of mistake, right..? There had to be...

Rosie seemed to be unable to do anything but stand there and weep, it was thanks to her pokemon that seemed to take pity on the brunette as they stepped forward. Pop reaching out to tug on the back of Rosie's dress and help guide the girl back inside with an expression that looked more of less exasperated. though her handling of the girl was still kind as she lead Rosie back into the house and sat her back down on the floor.

"Its all becasue of m-me, I-I'm s-so sorry Luke." curling in on herself to that her face was hidden in her knees she continued to cry "I'm so s- sorry"

Confusion and shock warred with denial in Sera for a while, as she merely stood where Rosie's pokemon had left her, completely stunned by what her best friend had just told her. There had to be some mistake - had to - and yet, what reason would Rosie have to lie to her? Not that Rosie was even capable of lying anyway, so that meant someone would've had to lie to Rosie. But would someone have lied about this? Told her that Luke couldn't feel his legs when he could?

While Sera had always been fond of denying the truth in favor of a lie she made up herself - they had always been so much easier to take, to deal with, than the truth - the habit had slowly left her over the past year, and it left her much more susceptible to believing that Luke could not, in fact, feel his legs.

Slowly, very slowly, the brunette moved in stunned silence, her shock showing plainly on her face, as she stopped near the blonde, knelt on the floor, and wrapped her arms around her friend. She didn't say a word, still too stunned and surprised at the abrupt news - could it just all be a dream instead? That sounded much more likely than a lie - and simply hugged Rosie.

With another, softer whine, Anastasia rose and followed, her ears swiveling back and forth in her confusion and displeasure, but most of all, with great concern. Something terrible had happened, she was sure, and they spoke of legs and not feeling, but she didn't know anything about what had happened for them to be so sad or confused about.

"Woh, whats going on?" A voice from the stares announced the arrival of a taller dark blond man, hitching up a pare of glasses as he made his way down the stares, stopping just a few steps from the bottom floor and staring with surprise in his blue eyes at the clearly distressed Rosie and Seraphine.
"Seraphine, Whats wrong? Rosie?"

Rosie wasn't talking anymore, trying to stop herself from crying, but it didn't seem to be having any affect, she didn't even look up when her Cousin spoke. How could she? How could she be acting like this? But then again, what else wa she going to do? She knew Luke didn't regret this... at least for the most part he had said he didn't, but how could she not feel guilty? And just... the look on his face, the pain she could hear in his voice, he must be so tired of all of this. Why was he still just so brave?
And then there was that, this ache in her heart whenever she thought about him.
PostPosted: Tue Sep 10, 2013 11:56 pm
While she heard the second voice, it barely registered in her head as something she needed to respond too. Luke... couldn't feel his legs. If he couldn't feel his legs, that meant he couldn't walk. If he couldn't walk, then that meant he couldn't do so many things - so many things - and the thought of her friend, one of her best friends in the whole world, being so severely debilitated... Actually, honestly, it reminded her of her own situation a little. Something awful had happened and had stripped her of her hand, and with it went so many things, so many actions or activities she couldn't do anymore, or at the very least had to struggle a lot to accomplish alone, all because she had one hand instead of two. Legs were obviously different, but it at least meant he couldn't walk anymore... He couldn't walk or jog or run, he couldn't stand, he couldn't... He couldn't reach things on a high shelf, he probably couldn't really shower that well, he'd probably have trouble getting changed, and how would that affect getting around the city... So many things would be affected by that in his life now, and while she could find some solace in the thought that she might at least partially understand, even moreso she found herself wishing that she didn't, that it had never happened to him at all. It was bad enough when she lost her own hand, but she would never wish anything like this on any of her friends, and especially not Luke, who had already gone through so much since she'd known him.

Unconsciously, her fingers tightened their grip on her friend as the full weight of the situation finally started setting in, and her stunned expression finally softened into one of uncertainty. Her wide-eyed, unfocused gaze finally shifted as her pale green eyes drifted first to her friend, then around the room at the various boxes scattered around, and a small noise escaped her throat as she tried to speak, to say something - anything - to Rosie, but she could find neither the words nor the voice to do so.

Rodney pressed his lips into a thin line, watching Seraphine trying to console Rosie, his eyebrows arching high over his glasses.
It wasn't like this was in any way terribly unusual, though it never failed to be troubling.
"Iiiii'm going to go make you girls some tea." He offered after a moment, knowing that now was probably not the time to attempt to try and pull them out of this.
Making his way down the steps he crossed into the Kitchen, shifting around the crowded counters for the pot.

The blond leaned into her friend, moving her hands out to hug her back. When she finally felt like she could speak again she managed to calm herself down enough to sit up, sniffing and catching whatever emotional waver breath she could. "I I wasn't going to cry, I p-promise I wasn't." She said to Sera apologetically.

Though it took a few seconds, Sera found herself responding with a quiet, "I believe you," though she never even though of replying. When Rosie pulled away, the brunette continued to sit there with a confused, bewildered frown on her face for a few more moments before finally relaxing and sitting down, though her gaze shifted to where her left hand should've been. Her right hand moved over to rest beside the empty space, and though her brain bid both hands to flex their respective fingers a bit, she had only one with which to comply. Her frown deepened a bit, her thoughts wandering aimlessly with her inability to answer the various questions in her head, and finally lifted her gaze to Rosie to simply ask, "Why?"

Blurry eyes looked at Sera at her last question, taking in a couple of shaky breaths before she asked "What do you m-mean?"
The structure of her sentence was broken by a light hiccup, though at least she seemed to be calming down, either from exhaustion from crying, or that she just got the worse of it out of her system.
