The closer his discharge date came, the less appealing so many of Luke's options seemed. Reluctant though he was to take advantage of a friend's kindness, Rosie would eventually receive a message: if it's really okay, I'll accept the offer from before

Not too long after he sent his text, he would receive a reply.
"Yes, its really okay. When are you getting out of the hospital?"

Rosie let out a deep breath as she watched the message send off, looking up around her living room to wait for a reply.
They had to get ready for that, and she would have to let Rodney know too once she knew for sure.

He felt defeated somehow, as though he had lost a battle without really having had the opportunity to fight. It seemed as though he were placing the seal on his fate, but he wasn't sure what else he could do.

With a slight reluctance, he sent his reply: day after tomorrow

Shortly after, he sent an amendment: sorry for the short notice

"Okay cool, Yay for no more hospital~
And its no problem, I know it was a lot to think about. I'll stop by later today so we can talk.
also, thanks for trusting me, I promise things will be okay. :3"

The next two days were busy, not just with Rosie trying to keep up with her training, but getting ready for a new guest to take residence in their home.
Making sure he had a bed for one, and one that would be appropriate.
Rosie was grateful to have her Cousin helping as much as he could, He had a knack for remembering bits of information he studied that really came in handy while Rosie was still trying to take in all the information she had read.

To say that she was nervous, was a bit of an understatement, and as she walked up the steps to the hospital to pick Luke up, she had to remember to take a few deep breaths to help put her at ease.
This was going to be difficult, no way around that, and it was so much information to take in, she was spotty at best in knowing what to to do, or how to help.
All she wanted to do was help though, if she kept that in mind then she was sure it would be okay. She was going to do her best! Okay!

Remember to take another breath Rosie...

Being told by the doctors that they were out of ideas was a more severe blow than Luke had anticipated it would have been, especially considering how irritating it had been to endure their ongoing optimism. In the time between his acceptance of Rosie's offer and the date of his release, he had put his time to use chasing fear and frustration and discontentment from his features - those weren't emotions he wanted Rosie to see lest she take them as a sign of regret for his actions - and he had greatly improved his ability to wear a facade. Unsure how long he would have to wear that facade, he spent his last moments of solitude in the hospital room expending all of the anger and grief in his heart, returning easily to a mild expression when the nurse appeared to tell him that the person picking him up at arrived.

Right at the appointed time, Luke would appear from beyond a set of doors, a folder full of instructions and prescriptions held lightly in his hands. He raised a hand slightly in greeting, mustering a tired smile.

Rodney had taken to poking around some of the paintings that had been placed on the waiting room walls.
She could hear him muttering random facts about some of the locations depicted in them, but her eyes and forward stance were focused on the door, humming lightly to herself a familiar tune and swaying lightly where she stood.

When she caught sight of Luke being wheeled out, catching sight of a fatigued smile from the red head, the blond smiled back, stepping forward to meet them.
"Hello~ You ready to get out of this Hospital?"

"I guess," Luke replied, sounding more ambivalent than he had intended. The hospital was far too familiar a landscape for him, but it was daunting, overwhelming even, to think that when he left it this time it would not be to return to the life he had known before.

There had been way too many times he had left the hospital, spent way too much time in it.
She just offered a kind smile then turned her attention to the nurses who had helped him out. "Thank you so much, Rodney and I can handle everything now."

as if summoned her Cousin appeared behind the younger Ewell, adjusting his glasses slightly and looking down at Luke. "Hello Luke."

The nurse gave a polite smile, taking a brief moment to remind of the discharge instructions Luke held before giving her wishes for a good recovery and returning to the hospital's interior.

Unintentionally Luke's eyes fell to his hands in his lap, his smile wan but still present. "Hello," he replied, suddenly feeling incredibly awkward about the whole arrangement. "Thanks for… this. And sorry."

"Hm? Well, I know its probably not the ideal situation for you, but when presented in as convincing of a way, I see it being better than many of the alternative."
Rosie grinned a little as Rodney looked over at her.
"I'm sure that the kind of environment that can provide enough intellectual stimulation as well as an opportunity to sha-"

"Rodney." Rosie said through a small giggle, interrupting what was aiming to be something of a ramble.
stepping up behind Luke, placing her hands on the handles "This is what friends are for." she summed up more simply.

"Ah, yes well... That too." Rodney conceded

Luke found himself disagreeing; this was far beyond what friends were for. This, by all rights, seemed much more like an abuse of kindness. "Thanks," he repeated, more quiet in tone and wishing there were anything besides plain gratitude he could offer in return.

This wasn't going to be easy for Luke, Rosie didn't need Rodney to say that to her over and over and over again for her to know that. He couldn't use his legs anymore, that alone created more complications for him then Rosie could even think of, she didn't expect him to be happy about this or even be able to pretend to be happy about it. The most anyone could offer was a chance for him to learn how to adapt.

It didn't take very long of a drive to get onto the part of the City the university was in. housing was set up in the form of apartments and condos for collage students, as well as small houses that were ideal for students with room mates.
One such home was built back into a small driveway where the car was parked, large trees from the street side shading the light green and blue two story home.

"Rai?" Kiss Kiss perked up from where she was sitting on the couch next to Vahy'n, perking herself up over the back of the couch at the sound of the door opening, Rosie stepping in and holding it open as to allow Luke and Rodney to enter onto the tiled entrance way.
Kiss Kiss leaned further over the edge of the couch, her long whip like tail flicking back and forth, but otherwise remaining politely restrained.

Stubbornly he bit back the bitter discomfort that gradually filled his thoughts, a sudden and violent questioning of why he couldn't just stand and walk in for himself and a hatred of his complete reliance for something as simple as moving from one place to another.
PostPosted: Mon Sep 16, 2013 9:14 pm
"So, this is our new place." Rosie said, stepping to the left of the entrance way that lead into what looked like a living room. To the left at the entrance was a flight of steps leading upstairs.

Turning to face Luke and Rodney as the older man wheeled the wheelchair into the room.
She folded her hands behind her back. "There isn't too much to see... but its everything we need." attached to the main sitting room a dining room as well as a Kitchen occupied the same large aria, separated only partly by a counter that ran in front of the dining room.

It still looked like it was being put together, a couple of boxes were sitting in the corner of the kitchen, halfway unpacked. Though the living room looked the most completed out of then all, a couch and a couple of seats placed around a coffee table, all facing an entertainment center that house a number of movies and pictures from the family.

A couple of book shelves, mostly occupied with pokemon related books, though a few trinkets decorated the shelves to add a more homy touch to the environment.

"Heh, to be honest I kind of fell in love with it the moment I walked in." she confessed putting a hand to her cheek. "But make yourself at home! you're welcome to anything down here, and you're room is just over this way."

At the very least he owed proper attention to Rosie as she explained the layout of the house - or, at least, the area that was accessible to him - and he did his best to give it, noting the visible rooms' features. Her phrasing startled him briefly, though as he came to understand what it was she had said, he was left feeling entirely foolish.
