  Hethel the Owl Spirit
Nicknames:
Those that have frequented the woods approaching the monster dorms may know her as "The Old Thorn's Owl" or "Hethel on the Old Thorn".
Gender: F
Age: One could guess she's been around for a long time as a spirit, but she looks 'bout 14 at most.
*No sense of smell. The undead are ok. A lot of them are very old. She can respect that.
*Is this your skellyphone? Someone dropped it by the talking Hawthorn in the forest not too far from here. Not yours? Huh. Okay. I'll keep it a little longer then.
*What's under all these feathers? Not you. Never you. Give up. It's not happening.
Personality:
Steady flight: She's not the type to be pulling stunts, and is rather consistently mellow. She doesn't like things getting loud and messy, so Hethel remains relatively composed in the face of surprise or danger and addresses the issue as best she can.
Down with the... down Though some may discredit her for it, all should be able to admit that Hethel's enormous fluff more than compensates for her unexciting personality. Hethel (in this context, mistakenly xD) believes that a mass of feathers granting an increase in body size makes one more intimidating. As for her sense of cute, it leans toward pink-fleshed, noisy unfledged nestlings, crawling around feebly. ಠ^ಠ
Owls stay below the canopy: If her body language is any indication, she's a bit of a recluse; far from outgoing. In fact, the only thing she seems to actively seek at school is to learn the class material and find the owner of her lost skellyphone. She has no future aspirations, except maybe...
Gives a hoot: Going on adventures and activities isn't something she'd do for fun, but it doesn't take much convincing for her to tag along to keep an eye on current happenings or as a support to others. She may be unemotional, but not unconcerned. Besides, she thinks of herself as a sort of protective forest spirit and finds it fulfilling to act the guardian. Oh, but romance- THAT she doesn't give a hoot about. xD
The Old Thorn
For a long time she's been living on an ancient Hawthorn tree in the forest called the Old Thorn. One of the ones that talk and make spooky gusts of wind! The Old Thorn is both her family and closest friend, so much that she considers it part of her own body. This prolonged closeness to a tree had some effects on her, such as a greater affection for flora than fauna in general, and... the appropriation of certain traits, both physical and mental. For a predatory animal spirit, she's got more passive and defensive tendencies than assertive ones. She's pretty 'chill', all in all and doesn't fall into any malicious or vindictive categories. Hethel tries to be a calming presence, and makes for an accepting friend and good listener. One may expect an owl to be pretty wise. She doesn't know if she is- maybe this is wise of her. rofl

Natural Ability:
Owlycowl - Hethel's natural form is that of a big poofy owl with a couple twigs sticking out here and there. Even in humanoid form, she almost appears to be wearing her natural form as a cloak. This is pretty much her natural ability; possessing what she wears to a degree, melding with it. She imbues herself into them; owliness asserts itself on the clothes she wears, making them get all puffed up and feathery, the sleeves appearing and behaving like wings of sort when she wears them [this is nothing special for a ghost since they all float/fly anyways, but the visual effect is Hayao-Miyazaki-esque.] The moment she stops possessing the clothing, it begins to revert to its original form until all traces of her magical ability have faded.
FEAR Ability:
Barrier Hawthorn Overgrowth: Can summon up thick sprawls of hawthorn from the ground. [this protects from incoming damage] |
