Now, you've probably wondered where holidays come from.

Well, you see now, quite simply that's all that they do
xxxxxxxxxxMaking one unique holiday, especially for you.
But once, a calamity ever so great occurred
xxxxxxxxxxWhen two worlds were crossed by mistake.

It's been 20 years since all the holidays became aware of one another, since Jack tried to take over Christmas for a year. Since then, a new generation of monsters has come to be. Since children are apt to getting into trouble, the doorway out of Halloween Town has had an age restriction placed on it, what with the influx of kids and the fact that with Oogie Boogie gone, Lock, Shock, and Barrel have been integrated into society again, but haven't lost their prankster ways, though they've mild with age. Not to be left out of this boom, Dr. Finklestein, with his new creation/wife, decided to create a child. Considering neither were exactly up for the job of caring for an infant, the child was aged around 5 years old. With inputs from both the Doctor and his wife, a perfectly monstrous little girl was created.

Nerezza is now 17 and the go-to babysitter of Halloween Town. This isn't surprising, considering the choices amongst the older kids. Her general make-up makes her exceptionally good at keeping an eye on the various younger kids in the gloomy town. Due to this skill, she's in a surprising amount of demand (though she always makes room for her dear 'aunt and uncle') and rarely has a free day to herself. Though she doesn't mind mostly, she occasionally wonders what it would be like to be able to just run around freely and have fun like her friends. It's this lingering thought that aids in Shock's tempting her to join her and her brothers on one of her rare free days. With what? Why, the weakened barrier between worlds, of course! After all, who doesn't want to go see the human world, raise a little goosebumps among the living humans? Besides, they should be just fine as long as they don't bring back a human, right...?

Nerezza began babysitting when she was about 13, and sometimes regrets it as it’s taken up most of her time ever since. She doesn’t mind watching her ‘little cousins’ really, they’re family, but she wished some of the other monsters wouldn’t go out so much! She’d suggest they get a different kid to babysit now and again, but, well…everyone knows how that would go…

Jason has always lived the pretty typical life. He was raised by Ghouls that hated Christmas and wanted Halloween to be the best holiday there was. Due to this, his parents raised him to hate what they hated. He is the only child and is spoiled because of this. He was taught that Jack was weak and that he should try to be raining surpreme in the scare department. This isn't was Jason wants however and just became the troubled youth that is commonly seen in the human world.

"Where, oh where has my little miss gone?" Nerezza called as she walked through the graveyard. Her ears twitched as she heard a poorly stifled giggle behind one of the tombstones not too far away. Tonight she had things easy, watching only one of her little cousins who was too young to appreciate her older siblings musical talent and too energetic to sit quietly in an auditorium at one of their concerts. Nerezza hopped agilely up onto a headstone, her hands on her face and her tail curled up. "Oh my, oh dear, I've lost her! What if something has gobbled her up!" She said dramatically, watching the hem of a dress that stuck out from the little girl's hiding spot. It fidgeted some, until it's wearer popped her head up, waving her arms. "Here, Nezzy, I'm here! Nothing's gobbled me up!" The little child was obviously not human, she was much too skinny and the skin she had was too grey. Not to mention while she had beautiful long hair, currently pulled up into pigtails, she had no eyes. Nerezza gasped, as though surprised. "Oh, Hazel! There you are!" Nerezza skipped across the headstones and scooped the child up. "Goodness, I thought you'd made a yummy snack for some big monster!" She said. The child grinned. "But everyone's a monster here." She laughed. Nerezza laughed and put Hazel on her shoulders. "Well yes, but I mean a big monster! One big enough to eat other monsters!" She said, hopping down to walk through the graveyard. "Or maybe Koli! You're bony like your Daddy, and you know Koli likes bones!" She said. Hazel tugged Nerezza's ears playfully. "Koli wouldn't do that, he's nice like Zero!" She said. Nerezza only laughed and asked what she wanted to do now. When she suggested swimming, Nerezza turned. "We gotta ask Marsha if she minds and get our bathingsuits first. I don't think Aunt Sally would be very pleased if I brought you back with your good clothes covered in sticky mud and pond scum." She said, bouncing as she walked.

Jason's grin turned in to one of malice. They were up by two and ready to take the win. The large mummy was charging at him, eyes glowing as red as embers on an open fire. He had to get rid of pigskin, which in the human world was known as a football but here in Halloween Town, it was literally a pig's skin stretched, stuffed and sewn to make it into a ball like figure.

The ghoul cocked his arm back and threw with all his might to the vampire bat hovering just over the mass of bodies on the opposing team. Jason grinned wildly, fist pumping the air as Vlad's son caught the ball and flew to the other end zone. Whines came from the other team and they stared for the sidelines. They should have known better than to mess with someone so intelligent.

Jason's eyes scanned the field and landed on his other teammate cheering at the other end of the field.

"We kicked some major butt." Jason grinned from ear to ear, pouring a clear cool liquid over his head effectively washing away the sweat. "Anyway, gotta jet."

The other monsters groaned and the ghosts wailed, but they each said ther goodbyes as the ghoul left.

It was a bit before he reached the cematery and he couldn't help but stop and watch as Nerezza played with a young child. He never could understand why she loved kids so much. They were snot nosed brats and took up entirely too much time. Still, he enjoyed looking at Nerezza and her feline like features. She really was hot.

"Ay! Nezz!" Jason trotted over to the beauteous monster and smiled at her and the small child she was with. "How's it going?" He talked to her often in school, but he rarely ever saw her outside Hallow High. She was normally holed up in someones house watching their little 'angels'.

Nerezza looked around, startled, as she heard someone call her name. She saw Jason heading around the tombstones towards her and her ears perked. "Jason, hey." She said, obviously surprised to see him. Despite the fact that their home was Halloween, barely anyone hung out in the graveyard. She felt the girl on her shoulders wrap her fingers in her hair and lay her head atop Nerezza's. The Ghouls and the Skellingtons had never really gotten along, not since Nerezza was little. Her uncle had told her that they'd never really been friendly and when Jack had tried to bring Christmas to Halloweentown, they're animosity intensified. He'd said it was because they weren't very festive whereas he was usually the center of the festivities.

"What are you doing out and about?" She asked politely. She'd never let the families feelings towards each other stop her from being nice, even though she thought the world of her aunt and uncle. She reached up and took Hazel off of her shoulders as she continued wrapping her fingers nervously. The youngest Skellington child was shy and not a fan of confrontation, even when it came to her older siblings. Instead, Nerezza transferred her to a hip, holding her effortlessly in one arm, the other placed on her opposite hip as her tail curled up amicably.

Jason watched as Nezz moved the girl to a more comfortable position. The little skeleton female watched him cautiously, not really showing any sort of trust. He didn't blame her in all honesty. Their two families had been at odds as far back as he could remember. It just was the natural way of doing things here in Halloween town.

Jason moved his crimson eyes from the little girl and to Nezz's own catlike eyes. "Some buddies and I were going to go visit some humans and get a few good scares. Was wondering if you'd like to come?"

Jason gave her the smoothest smile he could muster up. He could only hope that she would agree to hang with him and the gang for a while. The woman really needed to let her hair down every once in a while. She was always so busy and seemed like she had no time for a life. Jason leaned against a gravestone and crossed his arms over his toned chest.

He cocked his brow up in question, waiting for her reply.

Nerezza shifted her weight to one hip and raised an eyebrow as well. "Buddies, huh?" She asked. "Would their names happen to be Lock, Shock, and Barrel?" She wasn't really surprised at this, considering the trio (mostly Shock) had been trying to tempt her into tagging along on their excursions for a while. Nezz couldn't say she hadn't been tempted, but the thought of going with only them wasn't exactly appealing. She had no doubt that if she decided she wanted to cut out early or not follow their plans, there'd be a world of drama that she didn't need to deal with. Not to mention she knew Lock quite well enough to know he'd try something. However...She looked the Ghoul before her over. Really, though she didn't know him all too well outside of idle conversation in class, he seemed like a good enough guy and still into that kind of thing to keep the siblings' attention if she felt the need to leave. As for Lock's wandering hands and gaze, well that's what claws were for. Still, she smirked at him. "My Aunt and Uncle should be home in about..." She turned to check the clock tower. "...Three hours." She said, turning back to him and leaning forwards. "So when I get off, maybe I'll drop by to see you guys off." She said teasingly, before promptly turning on her heel and heading off down the path towards the gate. Hazel watched over Nerezza's shoulder until he was out of sight before leaning back to look at her. "You're not gonna go, are you Nezzy?" She asked. "Uncle Finklestein said you couldn't, you'll be breaking the rules and get in trouble!" She said. Nerezza smiled at her. "Well, I wouldn't want to break the rules, would I? You ready to go swimming?" She asked, effectively evading the girls question without lying to her. Most of Halloweentown knew that the Doctor was lock-happy when it came to punishments, but Nerezza was rarely in trouble with her father, considering he thought she was practically perfect. Still, it was entirely forbidden for her to go to the human world, and if she would caught she didn't doubt she'd be locked up for a month...still, what was life without a few risks, right?

Jason gave her one of his famous half smiles.

"What? Them? Nah, they are just a family friend. I don't get messed up with that crowd." Jason scoffed. It wasn't a total lie after all. The ghoul crossed his arms over his chest and gave her a smirk.

"Yeah well, we'll see. I'll be at the forest edge around nine. In case you decide to... see us off." His gaze shifted to the small girl. He knew how they operated and knew that they lived to tell on the older folks. He started to walk away as she did, giving a slight wave of his hand. The trek home was short to say the least. The ghoul family only lived a few moments away from the cemetery. His parents were out at work when he got home and the only thing to occupy his company were the few cobwebs that his bother had put up for the season. He flopped on the couch and watched as the spiders in the dark corners started to crawl around and create their little webs.

Soon the Ghouls eyes started to drift shut and he was being woken up by the sound of his mother and father talking and laughing down the hall. He didn't feel like talking with them and shut their voices out. He stirred and opened his eyes, checking the time and jolted up. He had to be by the forest in ten minutes. He stood up and threw on some cologne to mask the smell of sleep.

"I'm going out." Jason called out to no one in general. He could hear the faint voices of his parents giving consent and he decided to flee the house quickly and sprint to the forest. He was late but it didn't seem anyone was there at the moment. Jason propped himself against the tree, his crimson eyes scanning for any sign of Nezz.

Nerezza laid perched on her stomach in a tree, her long tail looped up over her back, though she let her skirts hang down, and her head resting on her crossed arms. She'd been there an hour already, but then she'd also left early. She enjoyed sitting in the quiet from time to time. She liked her job really, but at times being surrounded by kids either screaming at each other or vying for her attention was taxing. She got no solace at home either. She loved her parents of course, but to be frank, they were both ingenious basket-cases. While she'd taken over what had once been her aunt's room (considering Sally was technically her sister and had lived there once) she often heard her father as he either mused or cursed away over some new invention or experiment. As for her mother, well she was the more artsy of the two and was constantly trying to change Nerezza's hair or eyes as though the girl was some doll. She didn't doubt they loved her as well, but they saw her just as much as a successful biologically-sound experiment as they did a daughter

In the silence, the sound running footsteps reached her ears easily and she looked up and around before spotting the ghoul headed her way. She grinned and rested her head in her hand as he looked around and leaned against the very same tree. It was the reason she'd picked her spot really, rather than seating herself at it's base, though she had no way of knowing he'd pick the same one. She waited for a while, watching him to see if he'd notice her. It wasn't all that surprising that he hadn't, her dark clothes definitely helped her blend in with the night. After a moment, she decided to speak up rather than drop down on him, figuring it was probably the least likely to lead to some awkward situation. "It's funny, y'know?" She said clearly, her head still rested in her hand. "In practically every horror story, they never think to look up."

Jason had just relaxed his breathing when a voice startled him out of his train of thought. He smirked and pulled himself up to the branch across from the woman. He was sure it wasn't as graceful as she had done it no doubt. The ghouls crimson eyes wandered towards the woman and he gave a shrug.

"Funny. Then again most villains can't fly or climb as well as you. Plus we are the creepy crawlies in those horror stories." She chuckled and looked over his shoulder into the forest. It was almost eight thirty and the guard shift changed at around nine or so. They would be able to sneak in then without a hitch.

"So, have you decided?" He cocked his brow at the girl, a smirk playing on his lips. He thought she would bail to be honest so it was a nice surprise to see her there.

"By the way, the guys bailed. Too scared I guess." The ghoul watched the trail to the doors in the forest. He didn't understand the age limit set on the doors. Jack had been an adult then and almost ruined the Christmas spirit along with their town. The ghoul's jaw set as his thoughts took him away.

For so long the Skellingtons and the Ghouling family had rivaled. They were close to the Oogie Boogie man and Jack has so callously murdered him. Sure he was a bad monster, but he was one of the scariest. Since then the town had lost its edge. There weren't much tales about the 'pumkin king' in children fairy tales, but when the Boogie man was mentioned, children would tremble. Jason snapped out of his reverie and turned a smile on to the feline-esque female.

"Ready?"

Sorry! I've been moving this whole past week. D: I'm back though and there shouldn't be any interruptions to my posts!

Nerezza laughed as he complimented her and moved to sit up against the trunk, her legs crossed as he asked if she'd made her decision. "Well, they say these years are the ones to make dumb choices, so..." She said, following his gaze. "Too scared of what? Humans?" She asked. When she didn't get an answer, she looked back. It seemed something within his own mind had caught the ghouls attention. She sat politely for a moment to allow him to work through his thoughts, and just as she was about to break the silence, he snapped out of it.

"Ready as I'll ever be." She answered, sliding from the branch and landing with a quiet crunch in the leaves below. She turned to look towards the clock tower, her pupils wide to make out the hands in the dark. "Ooh, we'd better hurry if we're going to get through without being noticed." She said. They still needed to make it quietly through the forest in time to get through the door before the next guard showed up. Of course, the doors weren't too jealously guarded, so it wasn't like they didn't have time to make it through, as it wasn't anything knew for the guards to show up 15 minutes late after the last had gone.

Jason smiled and nodded, flipping over to his belly, and sliding off the tree, landing on his rump. He scowled, a bit annoyed that he fell in front of Nerezza but got up anyway, dusting off his backside. Normally he wasn't so clumsy, but he didnt' climb trees either.

"Alright, lets go!" Jason dipped behind trees as silently as he could. His crimson eyes glowed in the dark slightly, but not to the extent of being noticed greatly. He looked back at the girl following him to make sure she was close behind. They were nearly to the trees and they were going to be there just in time to get away with it easily.

"Ready?" He asked once they got to the doors. There were several different shapes but the one he wanted was that shaped like a circle with green odd shapes spattered over it. The others were an egg, a tree, a clover and the list was endless. The muscular high-schooler went to the door and opened it wide to a different place completely. The forest was filled with noises he wasn't accustomed to hearing and in the distance there was the faint glow of a city or town near by.

"After you." Jason made a sweeping gesture, allowing for the woman to go first.
