[PRP] The Lady and the Captain

Usually the streets of the Devoirue were quiet this time of night, especially in the Noble Quarter where seldom anything really exciting happened. Snow fell lightly and the light from street lamps and the glow from the windows of nearby houses and mansions illuminated the street.

All would be quite peaceful... If it were not for the shrill cry of a Pokemon that echoed through the night.

Bolts of blue lightning shot through the air, and the street lamps flickered. Moments later there was an explosion of sparks as a transformer blew and some of the nearby homes went dark.

A spikey blue and white blur then dashed across and up the street. It's eyes wild and puffs of breath escaping it as it ran. It panted and growled at the same time, dashing about with no set destination and occasionally throwing thunderbolts in random directions as it screamed.

The sudden scream made Nicolette freeze, a chill running down her spine at the sound as all her pokemon similarly stood perfectly still. The girl hastily put the brush she'd been using on Epona back into its box and hurried to the barn doors, peeking out through the snow to try and see if she could see the cause of the commotion, with her various pokemon following suit. The pokemon itself wasn't readily visible from her vantage point, but she at least could recognize it as an electric-type due to its attacks - especially as the power suddenly left a few houses, though hers was spared for now.

Taking a deep breath, the young noble hugged her coat around her tighter before she jogged out to the tall fence surrounding her family's property, set back a little ways from the road, and curled her gloved fingers around the cold metal bars as she squinted through the snow, trying to see what the pokemon was. Epona and Pascal followed her, while the remainder of her pokemon stayed in the barn - much to Angeline's chagrin (she had tried to follow, but her attempts had resulted in her current predicament of hanging by the scruff from Lulu's mouth, safely inside the barn).

Eventually Nicolette would see it. The Pokemon stopping on the street just in front of the gate to her home. A blue and white Jolteon stopped in its mad run to catch it's breath. However, it quickly noticed the young lady's presence and turned her eyes on Nicolette.

Immediately the Jolteons hackles raised, pointed spikes sticking up in the air as static crackled in its fur. Teeth were bared and it snarled with each heaving breath.

It was another one of those treacherous humans!

The sudden appearance of the Jolteon, as well as its vicious demeanor, startled her and she gasped softly in response, but didn't move away. Instead she stayed where she stood, her immense curiosity overpowering her fear and preventing her from turning and running away. She slowly dropped to her knees in the snow to be at eye-level with the electric-type, not moving any closer but not backing away, either. "Hello," she said to it gently, quietly, "are you alright?" It sounded like it was in pain, almost, and if it suffered, she wanted to help it, regardless of how frightening it was. Epona and Pascal remained silent and motionless near their trainer.

The Jolteon narrowed it's eyes suspiciously as Nicolette spoke. It's growls unceasing as the Pokemon remained where it was.

Tricky human. Surely she was trying to get her guard down with kind words. But she knew better! The human wouldn't fool her. No, she wouldn't let anyone get the better of her again.

Again the Jolteons fur crackled threateningly.

It wasn't running away or anything yet, and Nicolette took that as a good sign. "My name is Nicolette, I live here," she informed the electric-type carefully, hoping that talking to it would calm it a little. "Are you injured? Do you need help?" The Jolteon didn't look hurt - in fact, it looked more angry than anything, which was frightening her - but it didn't look injured. Still, that didn't mean that it wasn't injured at all.

Meanwhile, the Buneary beside her hopped up onto the bar that ran horizontally along the fencing and balanced on it, his paws on the vertical bars on either side of him to remain in place.

The Jolteon just grew more agitated, growling louder as if the words were somehow annoying or offensive. But it wasn't until the Buneary spoke that the straw broke the Camerupts back.

With an enraged scream lighting bolts shot forth from the Jolteon. Carelessly aimed at the offenders and instead striking the metal bars of the fence.

Nicolette pushed herself away from the fence with a frightened cry and threw herself down face-first into the snow, her small hands covering her head, before the electricity hit the fence. Epona reared up with a startled whinny, but remained unharmed; Pascal, unfortunately, wasn't as lucky. The attack sent him flying backwards before he disappeared with a pitiful 'plop' into the snow.

With a gasp the young girl pushed herself unsteadily to her feet, and hastened to her unconscious Buneary. After ascertaining that he was indeed unconscious and not dead, she quickly gathered him up into her arms and turned to see if the Jolteon had stayed where it was or if it had moved.

When Nicolette looked up she would see the Jolteon running towards the fence, charging up for another attack.

However in the next instant a Growlithe leaped out of nowhere, knocking the Jolteon down before sinking his teeth in for a Bite. The sound of hooves against pavement could also be heard drawing closer.

The Jolteon shrieked and attacked back with another thunderbolt, sending the Growlithe flying as well.

"Lambert!" Came a shout from a blonde member of the Guarde as he came riding up on his Rapidash. Flynn had heard there was a disturbance involving a Pokemon and decided to check it out. Usually they weren't a big deal but this seemed to be an exception.
