Name: Ishild
Nicknames: Ishy, Fangface
Gender: Female
Age: 16

Faction: Monster
Race: Barioth

Natural Ability: Immunity to most cold and ice based effects.

Personality: Sulky and surly are her default settings. She's still a bit resentful at her parents for getting angry at her, (she feels that she didn't do anything particularly wrong or deserving of the amount of shame her family's heaped upon her) and this has translated into uncertainty and doubt. Which are feelings she's not fond of and doesn't know how to deal with, leading her to her less than chipper disposition.

School was her choice, and yet it's shaping up to be not at all what she expected. She'd just wants to go home, but she's too proud to admit that maybe she made (another) poor choice. She waffles between extreme dedication to her schooling -she will make something of herself, jack it all!- and frustration -this is hard, why is it so hot, my life is over if I don't do this, and other teenaged dramatizations. If she could be rousted out of her permanent funk and encouraged to try things, she'd probably find something constructive (and maybe even enjoyable!) to channel her frustration into.

She's happiest when she's got something concrete to do, something with a goal she can see: beating her best time on an obstacle course, getting to the end of the assigned chapter in her text book, and summarizing it, etc. Free time leaves her at somewhat of a loss, her hobbies from home (exploring, snow sculpting, and ice fishing to name a few) really aren't suited for student life, and she's yet to find anything equivalent to fill the void. Except for books. Books don't really survive well in caravan life, so the idea that she can go and get one whenever she wants is rather appealing. Looking up stuff on the predator computers is even moreso.

She's also a bit resistant to trying new things (lingering guilt whut- yet another source of internal conflict- if she didn't do anything wrong, why does she feel so guilty?). It won't be as good as it was back home, or whatever excuse is convenient at the time. It has nothing to do with the idea she might screw this up as well. Nope, nothing at all to do with that.

Why are they enrolled in Amityville Academy? To distance herself from a rather arrogant childhood mistake. Amityville is prestigious and known for churning out responsible members of Halloween Society meant her parents couldn't really object, not when the suggestion was Ishild's own idea. It gets her away from the frozen wastes of her home and puts her on the path to improving herself so such mistakes don't happen again.

That she hasn't got the slightest as to what that path should be is only a minor stumbling point. Isn't that the point of higher education?

History: When you're constantly on the move, it's hard to form permanent attachments when you're out of communications range for half the year. So naturally Ishild was thrilled to find a companion in her age group she could run around with during their Summer hold-overs in the Gigginox caves. Like all kids on adventurous excursions, they found their way in and out of trouble. Until Ishild led her companion down a cave where they found much more than they bargained for. At first, she was bitter. It wasn't like it was the first time, after all. They'd frequently ignore the adults telling them to stay out of places. Nor was it the first time they'd come running home with something angry nipping at their heels. Nor was it the first time she'd ignored her friends' warnings for caution.

And then she found out how badly her friend was hurt, and that if it weren't for an expensive fear healer, obtained at great expense to the Barioth clan, that her friend might have been permanently maimed.

Well, then, she suddenly acquainted with a new feeling: crushing guilt. When she was allowed back into her parent's scaravan after spending sometime with relatives in the desert, Ishild declined, and instead asked to go to school. She wanted to be better, stronger. Scarier. And maybe it would be easier to be a place where memories of her mistakes didn't constantly hound her.

Barioth: Barioth are a nomadic species of wyvern, well adapted to the tundras and icy wastes of that they call home. (Except for that one crazy branch of the family that decided to move to the desert. They don't talk about them much.) They act as a scaravan, wandering among the more isolated groups residing in Halloween's colder regions, bringing goods for trade and news from the towns and cities.
