[PRP] Terrible News

Rosie had woken up, stiff and uncomfortable, having gotten very little sleep, if she even got any at all.
She had woken up with a hopeful pounding of her heart, hoping to hear that the night had brought up the memories that Luke had lost.
She would be disappointed.

The doctors had wanted to see Luke that morning, and in the meantime they had suggested that Rosie go down to the Cafeteria and get something to eat.
She didn't remember much of the trip down there, she wasn't even sure how she found the cafeteria at all, only that, as she looked up to the smell of food, she felt suddenly sick.

Finding a quiet place to sit down, away from the food and out of the way, in a seat that was even less comfortable then the one she had spent the night in.
Eventually she found her gear in her hand, and she did the first thing that she could think of. Selecting her best friends contact, and pressing to gear to her ear.

Rosie would have to wait quite a bit before the ringing ceased, and a groggy, half-asleep voice responded on the other end of the line. The first sounds weren't words so much as they were unintelligible mumbles that might have been attempts at civilized speech, which culminated in a vaguely irritated, sleepy, "Who's this?" Seraphine was most definitely not a morning person.

There was a moment after Sera's answer that there came no reply, Rosie lifted her head a little, looking up at the ceiling before she manage to say something so that Sera wouldn't hang up.
"Sera..." She said quietly, though was cracking voice.

She opened her mouth to speak again after the short time of not receiving a reply - likely to accuse the person on the other end of cruelly waking her up so early in the morning for no reason, not that she even knew what time it was apart from earlier than she wanted - but the voice on the other end, that spoke but a single word, sufficed to wake her up a little more and completely change her demeanor. "Rosie? What's wrong?" There wasn't any reason her best friend would call her at such an hour normally.

Closing her eyes, and swallowing hard, trying to find just what to tell Sera, the last days events buzzing through her head with a flood of painful memories.
Arceus... where does she even start?
"Something terrible happened... Sera... Mieu's... he's... Mieu's dead."

Rosie's words were met with a few moments of silence before Sera finally found her voice again. "He's... what do you mean? What happened?"

Rosie lowered her head, holding her forehead into her fingertips as she strained against her own tight throat.
"We were attacked on our way up here... Mieu tried to chase the man off but he... he had one of those black balls with him and he...."

Those black pokeballs... She'd heard enough of them, mostly from her best friend, to know roughly what they did to the pokemon they captured. "He... didn't use it on Mieu, did he..?" Despite the question, she had a sinking feeling that the answer would be 'yes, actually he did' which was absolutely not what she wanted to hear - not at all.

Rosie wasn't able to answer the question, though through a light shuddering breath Sera would probably be able to conclude what the terrible truth was.

Silence reigned on the other end of the line, though quiet, muffled shifting hinted at a change in position. So, some a*****e Rocket had attacked them and used a black ball on Mieu... She didn't even want to imagine the resulting experiences or feelings that had wrought.

"But wait," she said suddenly, frowning into the phone, "that wouldn't kill him - there has to be something we can do, right? It can't be permanent, there must be something... The League -- can't they do something? They should know a lot more about it, shouldn't they?" There had to be something that could be done to help the poor Flareon.

There was another long pause, and Rosie tried to find the best way to explain what happend throughthe pain of remembering what happened.
Finally when she did speak it was with difficulty that she formed her words.

"Mieu went out of control... He started attacking everyone, and by the end- Luke had to..."

Sera waited for Rosie to continue, and when she didn't, she asked, "He had to... what?" It took her a moment or two to recall what Rosie had said at the start of the conversation - that Mieu was dead. Luke had to... oh, s**t. "Wait, don't tell me he.. He didn't, did he?" No, how could he? It was Mieu, they could have done something, right...?

Rosie nodded, only realizing after a few seconds that she was going to have to answer verbally.
"We tried... everything we could."

There was a soft, muffled fwump as Sera flopped backwards onto her bed with an audible groan. Mieu had been stolen by Team Rocket before, and that had been absolutely terrible - granted, she was still rather self-absorbed when that had happened, but still - and now this? Ugh...

After a few moments of thought, she remembered the other party. "How's Luke doing...?" She couldn't even imagine that happening to her precious Anastasia - poor Luke must be devastated right now... Ugh, why did everything have to happen to him? Why not someone else, like.. Like... Like Dove, or at least someone who wasn't one of her best friends.

"He uh..." She rubbed her fingers against her forehead. "Yesterday he went into shock after... after..." she placed her finger tips against her lips, her eyes tearing up before she could stop it.
"A couple hours later he blacked out when we were at the hospital, and when he woke up... he doesn't remember anything."
