*~::Sapporo TV Tower::~*

[The Third Holy Grail War]
The massive TV Tower at the heart of the city of Sapporo, it is a famous tourist attraction...or was before the takeover of the city during the Endgame Crisis by a certain wanted fugitive. How it stands as a potential battleground for the Third Holy Grail War.

Munakata Kei, the Deadly Nightshade of the Human Weapons Unit
"...I'm not simply a man who kills for no reason. It's because I have a reason that I kill. Because the night is young, I'll kill you. Because the night is dark and full of terrors, I'll kill you..."

It was empty. That wasn't normal...

Even with the day giving way tonight, it was still too early in the day for the Sapporo Tower to be completely devoid of tourists and travelers unless there was something unusual at work in the area. Most likely there had been some damage the night before and there was construction underway somewhere on the tower, or perhaps the person in charge of the Tower for now was actually someone related to the Tournament, clearing it out in anticipation of a battle to come. That would have made sense, but it made his being here all the more ominous. Leaping his way up the Tower hadn't been all that difficult for him, bouncing from steel to steel girder, climbing with his unnatural Human Weapon's Unit skills...avoiding any of the normal paths that might have made him vulnerable to a person's ambush. Even if he had been jumped he wasn't afraid, neither servant nor master particularly scared him on their own. And it wasn't as though he was alone either...still, the less they could fight and the more their enemies took one another out of the fight, the better. Going looking for a fight wasn't the best strategy and the both of them knew it. Gathering information was the main purpose of their outing together, and already this place was bearing fruit for the two of them. The Tower was cleared out at night for fighting, which meant that it is very likely fights happen here often. Which meant as long as he remained observant, the rest of his outing was sure to bear fruit. The only problem was...

"..."

...It was too quiet. Too empty. At the top-most platform on the outside of the tower he stood with a gorgeous view of the city below; his Servant could likely scan most of the city from here with very little obstruction. Which made him wonder where the rest of the Servants were if they were the only ones here? Silently, his eyes shifted towards his companion and he motioned without words for the follower to glance out into the city and tell him what he saw. And in a voice that only he could hear, the answer came, simpler than he might have guessed. Many of the more volatile servants were now out hunting for their prey...striking at the houses nearest to the city, a few on the outskirts. It confirmed in his mind the decision they had made to stay away from locations that other Servants would likely search first...but reminded him solemnly that even their safe haven wouldn't remain untouched forever. They had to be safe...and until he got back to her, she needed to stay safe for him.

"Kaori," he whispered, shielding his mouth with his sleeve to muffle the sound for all but her to hear, "I'm at the Tower...it's all clear so far. Too clear, maybe..."

Servant

Laughter filled the air of the Sapporo TV Tower. "Looks like my hunch was right. There's someone here after all." A blur of red shot at Kei, aiming to gouge out the chest of the Master in one move. The speed of the Servant made it hard to even realize what was going on before he was right on top of the Master, let alone get a good look at the figure. But he wasn't hiding anything. Medium length blue hair was drawn back in a ponytail, and in his hands was a long spear with a blood red tip, the blade he intended to kill Kei with before he even knew what was coming. Most Servants were pretty careful not to reveal their identity, which meant that if he was going to go right at these guys, he intended to kill them before they could put the info they'd gather against him. "Just do me a favor, and don't go cursing my name alright? I'm just doing my job. Sure my Master said to scout the area, but we were going to fight anyway, so what's the problem with taking your life right here, hm!?" The Servant's terrifying red eyes and mad grin were at odds with his words, but he clearly hadn't lost himself in battle. Still, it was going to be clear to someone as familiar with war as the Human Weapons Unit that he was enjoying their battle, and the fact that he could feel that happy and yet still be that calm had to be that much more terrifying.

"...I'm not simply a man who kills for no reason. It's because I have a reason that I kill. Because the night is young, I'll kill you. Because the night is dark and full of terrors, I'll kill you..."

An instant! That was all he had to recognize the threat that lay before him before the fight was already underway; his incredible instincts told him all he needed to know about the owner of the voice that called out to him...though logic and deduction would have done just the same in another second's time. Everything in his being recognized this person as an enemy, his voice as the opening salvo of an attack meant to take his life, and the spear that he saw suddenly stretch out before him was the instrument that was meant to do just that. Himself a human weapon, he recognized the enjoyment in the man's voice, but could sense...as the man might expect...that he was calm and composed, a true warrior right down to his core: A Servant. And it must have been a particularly ruthless one...or a ruthless master...to strike at the master without warning like this, too. He'd keep that in mind when analyzing the skills. That, of course, if he could survive the first attack. His instincts were screaming at him...death was imminent! For a man whose very being was poured into the art of kill and cast into the mold of a thousand-man murderer, he recognized in an instant that what awaited him at the tip of that spear was far more than defeat; it was truly death. And against a Servant, alone, he had no chance of victory...human weapon or no...

"Master!"

...The clash of steel on steel resounded throughout the night sky and atop the highest walk of the Tower, a silver-armored warrior with wild white hair placing its body between the Deadly Nightshade and the Heroic Spirit aiming to take his life in a single strike. Against his sword, the spear clashed and sparked, but ultimately it could not pierce the enemy that it found itself pitted against. Sabers were ultimately made of sterner stuff than any other class of Servant, after all, and this one had the guise of a warrior through and through. It was a good thing, Kei thought as his eyes widened, grateful that his Servant had made the climb alongside him...a good thing that he wasn't alone.

"Saber, thank you," his voice came out calm, his body protected by the Servant as he stood closer to the rail over the edge of the Tower with his eyes peering at what he could see of his enemy, "This must be a Lancer. Saber...there's no need for me to tell you what to do, is there? Ours are blades that were made to kill. So fight..." His servant deflected the spear at last, sending it retreating to its master's hand and its normal length. Eyes shifted back to nod at his master only for an instant before the swordsman's attention returned fully to the very dangerous enemy that lay before him. ...Saber versus Lancer...it was a duel as old as the Grail War itself. Kei could only hope that this time, as it had been in the past, the Lancer's poor luck wouldn't hold in the end. "I'm leaving it to you, Saber!" the swordsman called out after a moment, turning and in one smooth move, leaping over the edge of the platform's railing to drop down onto one of the steel beams below. From there he caught on and found his balance, moving a little lower to where he could still hear the battle...but would be a bit further from the danger of that deadly spear than before. So long as Lancer's attention was focused on Saber, he could place his focus on the Master...if he was nearby, at least. And if he wasn't, then all the better. What he had said to his Servant was entirely true; their blades had been trained and honed to kill. It remained true, however, that only one of them honestly desired to end the lives of his enemies...

"Kaori, I'm at the Sapporo Tower; I was attacked by an enemy Lancer. Saber's engaging him now," his voice finally sounded through the communicator clearly, informing his partner of the precarious situation he had found himself in, "He's strong...it's going to be a dangerous fight. I'm pulling back to a safer distance for now and scouting for the Master..." He knew telling her all that wouldn't do any wonders for her nerves...but she needed to know the truth, know the situation. Their strategy would only be useful if they worked in tandem, after all. Even so, Kei had faith that his Saber was more than up to the task of the fight before him. He wasn't called a Heroic Spirit for nothing, after all.

...

"The problem is, as long as I'm alive, I won't allow that boy to die," the Saber Servant shifted his broadsword until he was in a more ready stance than he had been prior, eyes focused dangerously upon the Lancer that had attacked his Master. One strike...that was all it took to know that this man was an absolute master of his weapon. If he hadn't been there in front of his master to intercept the attack it would have killed him...but what really was terrifying about the weapon was how fast it had been. How had it moved so fast that even his eyes could barely see? What was the trick behind the spear itself? He needed to understand it, lest even he might find himself in some form of danger. "Come now, Lancer. Do you truly wish to whet your blade in the blood of a child? We Heroic Spirits are meant to do battle with other Heroic Spirits, and if your desire to battle persists, I shall be your first opponent." Despite the sound of reluctance to engage in his words, his actions spoke something different...the space between Lancer and Saber was covered in an instant, the two-handed sword swinging impossibly fast in a horizontal arc aimed for the enemy's neck! No sooner had it passed by, however, than a diagonal arc from the opposite direction aimed to take advantage of the likely dodging path taken after the first move.

And in that opening salvo the chess-match that all great duels between warriors ended up becoming was underway; one slip, one mistake, that was all it took for a duel between masters to come to an end. This was the way that battle ought to be...steel on steel, hero against hero...and only one of them could come out on top.

Calling: Munakata Kei
From: Kaori Sakurazaka
Kaori Sakurazaka, the Wild Cherry Blossom of the Human Weapons Unit

"Get out of there, Kei! You are not hurt, are you?" she blurted out before she could even listen to what was happening; his voice the only thread she had to keep herself composed. Or...as composed as she could be with the current situation. She listened...and for a moment, her shaky breathing was the only thing that could be heard...followed then by a loud slam. Her fist had hit the wall before she could even think about it, a curse leaving her lips.

...

"Stay safe..." Her fingers curled into fists, her gaze turning to her Servant only for an instant, almost as if hoping for some kind of answer, before returning her gaze back to the door. It was so tempting to just bolt and go to him. "Don't put yourself at unnecessary risk, Kei. Scout for the Master, but... leave it if you don't find him after a while. Last night Servants were moving without having their Masters close...so, this could be the case this time as well." Yet again...she didn't actually took the time to scout for the ones controlling the Heroic Spirits... "And Kei..." she paused for a moment, almost as if deciding her words, before shaking her head. No...she didn't need to say it... He would be back with her. "Don't hesitate to call me if things get worse. We are a team...and I will be there when you need me." Instead...she reminded him of their agreement. She could use a Command Seal to send her Servant to his aid...and like she said...she would be there not much after. For him.

Servant

The Lancer took a few steps back as the Saber slashed at him, pivoting on each foot and deflecting the weapon with either end of his spear. This was no cheap swordsmanship, which meant that kid had summoned a proper Servant, one worth fighting. "Oh, you think you're worthy of being my opponent then? Ha, just what I'd expect of a Saber. Always underestimating me." The Servant took a few steps back, and suddenly reached over and pressed his finger against the pillar of the tower. He moved his finger in a quick three or four strokes, and as he finished the sign began to glow. "We'll settle this with a good old fashion death match. You don't have a problem with that, do you?" Suddenly the pillar let out a number of sparks, which quickly grew into a tumultuous flame that traced along the observatory walls and surrounded the pair. The tower itself was metal, but in the center, where they were, it was an enormous floor for couples made out of sufficiently less stern stuff. Even then, a fire like this might start melting the supports that hold them up in no time. "What's the old saying? If you can't stand the heat, get out of the kitchen." He taunted, taking a stance with his spear pointed towards the Saber. The fire would test his defense, and if they didn't finish the fight soon, he might just end up a hunk of char-broiled meet before long.

"...I'm not simply a man who kills for no reason. It's because I have a reason that I kill. Because the night is young, I'll kill you. Because the night is dark and full of terrors, I'll kill you..."

Two swings of his massive sword and neither had met their mark; it had been some time since he had stood across from any foe that could claim to have done so well, even amongst Heroic Servants. It was plain from this initial round of combat that the Lancer was just as good as Saber had expected. Whether or not that meant he was a match for the armor-clad warrior remained to be seen. His relentless attack paused for a moment as his opponent seemed to be drawing something upon the metal pillar of the Tower. Confident...there was an overbearing confidence about this warrior that both spoke to his skill and the fact that he clearly didn't know who he was fighting just yet. More to the latter, the fire that sprung up on the platform almost awakened a wistful amusement inside of him. So, he wasn't just capable of close-range combat, but he was also capable of Rune Magic? That was going to make this fight even more interesting, wasn't it? Now they were on a timer before the platform crumbled at the pillars themselves threatened to give way to the heat of the flame, which meant that every action from here on was important. His assault could not waver, his defense would have to hold right until the end. A fight to the death, was it? That sounded just fine by him.

"You should be grateful I even recognize you as a knight," the swordsman responded to his opponent's provocation with little more than a dismissive scorn. No Heroic Spirit that would stoop to attacking Masters could be considered his equal. Not in terms of knighthood, not in terms of battle. This was a battle between Heroes. Yes, a fight to the death was the least they should expect from one another. And as fire sprung to life all around them, the platform alight with the Rune Magic that the Lancer had summoned, he reached behind his back and replaced his opening sword with another broadsword, powerful and sturdy, wielded with a superhuman skill that only he could muster with a weapon that broad. His lips curled into a challenging, stern line. No, the real fight would begin. "I accept..." he answered the challenge at last with two simple words, his feet pressing into the burning steel and flashing across the field swiftly...an upward swing of his sword aiming to once again test his opponent's defenses, "...your challenge!" Each slash that followed was as sharp as it was deadly; even a skilled warrior would find every slice a threat, powerful enough to cleave a head from shoulders and swift enough to put even a Lancer on the defensive. And the duel continued as thus...

...

He could hear Kaori's voice as he moved further down the Tower, but he was not yet in a position to respond to her. He could hear the clashes of steel on steel above, and when the fire erupted he knew that the race against time for their duel was only going to become all the more dire for him from here on. Staying in the Tower was suicide for a normal human being; the fire and the heavy crush of steel would finish even him if he was caught in the wake of the Lancer's blaze. Still, he would be at a safe distance by the time the top of the Tower came down, and his Servant...well, his Servant would be just fine, even amidst the fire, wouldn't he? His feet landed smoothly on another metallic beam further down the Tower, the distance between he and the duel growing a bit more. No sign of the Master just yet, but that didn't mean he was safe. But he had to believe in his Servant...had to believe in his own skill, honed over the years...with Kaori. Her voice caught his attention again after a beat; he paused only to shift focus to the battle above for a second...and in that time he spoke again, wanting to put her at ease for the time being. He might need her help eventually, but not just yet.

"I'm fine. Saber is fighting Lancer further up the Tower; Lancer set it on fire so I need to get clear before the Platform collapses. Short time," it was all he could do to get that much out before moving again, knowing that wasting anymore time might get him in a bit more trouble than he needed to be amidst this Tower. He was grateful he didn't need a ladder, nor did he need to wait for an elevator to descend; for once, being a Human Weapon was turning out to be useful for his own devices. Fortunate...but he couldn't let his guard down. Not yet. "No sign of the Master...I'll scout on the way down. Stay on the line," if it came to it he might need her help, but the last thing that he intended to do was pull her Servant away from her in the middle of this War. If another enemy showed up where she was, she'd be screwed; and Command Seals were too precious...when he could manage the situation on his own. Winning this War, to him, was secondary; in the end, what mattered to him more than anything was her survival. He'd protect her...until the end.

Servant

The Lancer couldn't help but smirk at the swordsman's first comment, a cocky grin that said something along the lines of 'I'm going to have fun knocking you down a few pegs'. "Ha, don't get cocky. If you think of me as just another knight, you're going to be the one who gets hurt." The blue haired Servant made note of the switched swords, and prepared himself for a newer, stronger onslaught. A broadsword like this was going to have more range and power, which meant he had to be more careful than ever as he attacked and approached. "When you cross blades with my spear, you're already as good as dead. I'd understand if you wanted to call me a monster though...I don't really know how to hold back!" Lancer continued to take a few steps back as he parried each blow from the swords, noting that trying to stand his ground against any of them might just end up causing him to lose his head. Just as he was backed up to the edge of the platform, the flames nearly lapping at his armor, Lancer smirked.

In a flash he spun, spear digging into the hot metal as he sliced one of the pillars straight through. He didn't stop however as he continued the spin and slammed the back of his spear into the newly sliced chunk of metal, sending the steel girder towards the Saber.
"From this point on, things are only going to get more serious." Lancer grinned as he traced another rune in the air, this time focusing the magic on himself. Strength began to flow through his muscles as he became tougher than ever, a bit of magic that he'd picked up in life while he was training for his fate. He'd see if the swordsman was really worthy of facing him now, and if he didn't die soon then he might even do him the honor of using his full power. "It's a nice sword. I don't suppose a hunk of metal like that has a name, does it?" There was plenty of sarcasm in his tone, as the two swords were both quite extraordinary. If he saw their powers a little better he'd say for sure, but due to the unique designs he could at least say the part of the world Saber came from. If the legends narrowed down any further, then pretty soon he might know just exactly when his opponent had come from, and even squeeze out a name.

"...I'm not simply a man who kills for no reason. It's because I have a reason that I kill. Because the night is young, I'll kill you. Because the night is dark and full of terrors, I'll kill you..."

It was a give-and-take fight between the swordsman and the Lancer; no sooner did the white-haired Saber think that he had just managed to get an advantage and force an opening in their exchange than did his foe do something completely remarkable with his spear to return the favor, displaying once and for all that his boasts of skill weren't all for show. Still, he couldn't help but think that his foe might be a little more lucky...and the fight itself a bit more enjoyable...if he'd close his mouth a bit more and just fight. Warriors, especially Servants, who talked too much about themselves and the fight they were in risked giving away their identity to their opponent. For some, revealing oneself might not be such a big deal, but to others it could be imperative to their victory that they remained concealed. Assassins were notorious for that, in fact, but they were far from the only Servants who valued secrecy. Many Sabers and Lancers, however, wished to shout out their names to their opponents proudly, to proclaim their skill to be the highest and invite any who would oppose that thought to challenge them for the rank of supremacy. Saber enjoyed a good fight, and he was quite pleased to test his skills against a Servant this good. That didn't mean that all the man's taunting and sharp words were going to get him talking.

"I retract my words; you're more than a simple knight. Such mastery over the spear is to be admired," his compliment came as he slashed the steel girder launched in his direction in two, either side passing by him harmlessly as the armored warrior focused upon his foe and planned out a new pattern of attack in an instant inside his mind, "And I'd love to share with you the name of my sword, but my master has advised me against it. Therefore, until such time as you should prove capable of making me call upon the name of my sword, you'll have to remain in the dark." It was well known amongst Servants that to draw upon a Noble Phantasm's full power required speaking the name of one's weapon...if the Phantasm was a weapon that needed to be released, that was. Was he implying that the sword within his hands now might also contain his Noble Phantasm? Or was it a simple bit of misdirection between warriors playing a deadly game of cat and mouse (and if so, which truly represented the cat and which the mouse)? His foot shifted as the lancer drew a rune in the air, placing it upon himself and increasing the magic within him. Thaumaturgy...how convenient. But he had a way to increase his own abilities as well...

"Your parlor tricks won't avail you against me," the warrior spoke calmly, standing amidst the flames and replacing his former sword with another sword, his third, a broad sword encrusted with jewels in the handle as though they had been embedded by some great weight crushing down upon them. He gripped it carefully, feeling its magic flow through him, making him feel light as a feather, "If you intend to beat me there is only one way...you must use your lance and best my sword! But no matter how skilled you may be, that is a goal which shall remain beyond your reach, Lancer!" By now, his master should have made his way considerably further down the Tower; he didn't need to hold back any longer. Lifting his weapon into the air, he swung instead of at his enemy in a downward arc...and in that one smooth motion he cleaved the edge of the platform to where he had driven the Lancer away from the rest, gravity beginning to do the work of pulling it down towards the city below with Lancer still standing atop it.

...Yet the assault was not over, and in that moment of lost balance as the platform beneath him began to give way, his enemy was on top of him...two-handed sword swinging faster than ever in an arc towards his neck, anticipating the movement to escape the falling platform and aiming for that opening! If he could land this blow it might be over in one strike...now was the time to see what this remarkable Lancer was truly capable of.

...

Further down the tower, the creaking of burning metal starting to give way could be heard by the dark-haired Human Weapon as he had nearly descended to the bottom of the massive Sapporo Tower. He heard the clash of steel against the girders and saw the platform on the far side of the tower begin to give way...hoping that the sight of it was good news for his Servant and bad news for the other. By now, it was clear that the Master was nowhere to be found on the Tower right now, but if his Servant was fighting it was also possible he was on his way. At this point, it might be safer to get himself out of the area entirely...both to avoid the bits of falling metal and to avoid any ambush from a Master just arriving when he reached the bottom. He had the utmost confidence in his Servant, and knew that he had an ally in reserve at his utmost need. Now wasn't the time to get thoughtful or lose focus. No, he just needed to get down the Tower...and let Saber do the rest until he got there. Then he could order the retreat if he truly wished it.

The Hound of Chulainn

"Didn't your mother ever teach you not to get cocky?" Lancer grit his teeth as the Saber switched swords again, slashing at the platform he'd been backed on to. Even as the area he was standing on began to give way his eyes remained on the swordsman, who jumped at the chance to keep him from making it back to the tower. That was just fine by him, now that Saber'd rushed forward into spear range thinking he'd won, he was the perfect target! "Too arrogant. You've just sealed your fate." Lancer drew back his spear and grinned, the magical energy making up his body suddenly gathering into the blood red tip for the first time. "Gae...Bolg!" Suddenly a red streak shot towards Saber, and the tip of his spear crashed against it's mark; or perhaps it would be more correct to say, a red streak appeared because the spear had found it's mark. His lance connected with the chest of the warriors, but Lancer wasn't done as his feet suddenly found themselves on solid ground to Saber's immediate right once more. Lancer's toes were barely on the ground when he pivoted, turning and slamming the back of his spear against the other side of Saber, intending to knock him off balance and send him reeling to his Maker instead. "Don't curse me for this. Curse yourself... for not being fast enough to keep up with my spear." Even as he said so, the fabled Lancer grinned, the thrill of battle causing the blood in his veins to pump all the harder.

"...I'm not simply a man who kills for no reason. It's because I have a reason that I kill. Because the night is young, I'll kill you. Because the night is dark and full of terrors, I'll kill you..."

Skillful! No, masterful! Finding just the right attribute to describe the wielding of the spear within the hands of the Lancer-class Servant was difficult, even with a thousand years of knowledge inside of his mind to pick from. With gravity no longer present to avail him and a warrior the caliber of Saber bearing down on him, his enemy had managed not just to react in time to defend himself atop the falling platform...but he had managed to draw upon the power of his lance and unleash a blow of this level of power...this level of accuracy! No Servant in the shoes of the Saber could have hoped to adequately defend against an attack this fast...no, it wasn't even fast he realized as the tip of the red spear clashed against his unguarded chest...it was different, a cause-effect reversal charm! It wasn't that the lance struck home because it was so fast...it was so fast because the lance had already stricken its target! Truly brilliant! A magnificent spear that could be wielded by only one man throughout all of history; his eyes narrowed and his teeth bit down together sharply as realization hit him! This Servant...his identity was now as plain as day! If only he had known who he was, the spear would never have stricken him...if he had known, he could have fought him differently perhaps, not held back the way that he had until now. But too late...

...Is what he would have said, were he any other Servant, that was. His enemy found his footing and swung his crimson spear's back to drive him from the platform and down to the world below, but rather than the back of the warrior's armor he instead clashed steel on solid steel! It was a sword, twisted and reinforced with a solid forearm behind the flat of the blade to prevent the momentum from driving him any further towards the fall that would await him! His lips curled into a smirk...and his armor where the spear's tip had stricken him perfectly as intended remained unbroken. Indeed, his enemy's attack had been true. And his enemy still lived...

"Hound of Cu Chulainn, a peerless spear warrior of the Celtic Age. Your spear is indeed as terrifying as they say...greater, even! I've never seen a Lancer quite so deadly. It is my honor to face you on the battlefield, Heroic Spirit," his lips curled into a smile, clearly sharing in the thrill of the battle that his opponent was thriving on so deeply. Yes, this was the sort of battle that made the Holy Grail War worth fighting, a duel between heroes of their ages...to see who was superior, which style was supreme. To face such an attack head-on was more than worth the commitment...and even if he never laid hands upon the Grail, it would be battles like this one that made the whole thing worthwhile nonetheless. "However, it is not arrogance that allows me to act so aggressively. This Armor will not give way to any attack, not even your spear. This armor is as the body of a dragon; no spear, no matter how skillfully wielded, shall thus pierce my heart. Nor will my spirit give way..." Pushing the spear away in a display of pure strength, he let the long edge of his blade pass through the area where the Lancer would have been if he hadn't the wherewithal to dodge...following the swing of his sword with an iron-clad fist to force the Lancer to a distance...giving him just the moment he needed to prepare.

"You have indeed done me an honor to reveal to me your Noble Phantasm, Hound of Cu Chulainn. Though my master would have me hide my own, I feel that as a warrior it I must respond in kind," the swordsman smirked, letting his weapon fade again over his shoulder...as his fingers extended to the side, his power growing sharply as a handle slowly materialized within his palm, "Lancer! Look on and witness...the legendary blade that shall allow me to defeat you..."

Noble Phantasm
Armor of ??? B+
An armor which grants its wearer a dragon's body. His skin is able to cancel most physical attacks and magic equivalent to A rank or lower, allowing him to take hits to vital areas without worry. It requires attacks of A-rank and above to harm him, but they register as damage only after the defensive values of an amount equal to B-rank are subtracted from them. When facing Noble Phantasms wielded by proper heroes, it gains additional defensive values equivalent to A rank. However, the armor does not enchant his skin entirely.

The Hound of Chulainn

"That armor...no, it's not really the armor that's protecting you, is it? I get it now." Lancer turned to face the warrior once more, taking a stance that would allow him to release his true power at a moment's notice. He knew the legend well enough, and judging from the way his Gae Bolg, an unparriable spear, had been parried...his opponent's true name could be none other. "You must be that dragon slayer from the north, Siegfried. That's why my Gae Bolg didn't have any effect on you. But now that I know your weakness, my spear will find it's mark without question." Cu Chulainn stepped backwards, gathering energy for another lance. Siegfried was about to unleash his sword, but rather than find out if it had any special effects, it was better if he just eliminated his target in one go. It wasn't the way he wanted to settle it, because he'd love to see what the treasure of Fafnir could do...but he had a War to win, and that meant that if he battled it out with every single Servant, he'd just end up exhausted.

"That's enough." A voice commanded, echoing straight into the ears of the Hound of Chulainn. Sieg looked up at the tower as he arrived, surprised at the kind of devastation that had taken place while he was absent. "Lancer, I told you to scout the area, but you've made a mess of that. If the mediators of this tournament decides so, such a spectacle could cause backlash on both sides. Return before you compromise us even more." Sieg was speaking to the Command Seal, but the words transferred to the Servant easily enough. "But Master! Just give me one more move, and I promise..." Sieg sighed, placing a hand over his Command Seal. "If I must, I will address the Command Seal. Lancer, come to my side at once." With the threat of one of the orders being used, Lancer's expression twisted into one of regret as he relented. "Damn it...you got lucky! Next time we meet, we'll finish what we started. You understand?" Even as the Hound offered his final challenge he disappeared from Siegfried's sight, appearing at his Master's side.

Which was quite close to Kei, it seemed. "So, it seems that the trash from the Human Weapons Unit has entered this tournament as well. Nevertheless, the Mori cannot be allowed to set their hands on the Holy Grail." Sieg quickly drew his sword, pacing towards the (former) member of the government with meted steps. "Lancer...eliminate him before his Servant arrives. We can't run the risk of letting others know who you are." "Tch, can't be helped...but I'm not going to forget this." Cu Chulainn chided, glaring at Sieg. He understood the reasoning behind his actions, but if he'd had faith in Cu Chulainn he could have taken out the swordsman in just another move or two, and this wouldn't be necessary. Instead he had to eliminate this kid, and there was no battle to be held there. Look, if you have to blame someone, blame your own luck, okay kid?" Lancer stepped forward, unleashing a quick thrust of his spear towards Kei's chest in hopes of eliminating his opponent. Unlike most Servants, he didn't mind eliminating Masters so much...but, he had enough honor to still regret not getting to fight the Servant, all the same.

Munakata Kei, the Deadly Nightshade of the Human Weapons Unit and Saber
"...I'm not simply a man who kills for no reason. It's because I have a reason that I kill. Because the night is young, I'll kill you. Because the night is dark and full of terrors, I'll kill you..."

"Hmph, if that's what you want to believe, then so be it," the swordsman answered the Lancer's provocation and guess as to his identity as impassively as possible. Even if he'd liked to have confirmed it and held a more honorable match, he was under orders and he wasn't about to tip his hand just yet. But whether he would reveal this name or not, this fight was about to reach its climax; the tower was beginning to creak and the platform was almost entirely burned away. His sword readied, and his enemy looked downright antsy to bring this match to a proper conclusion. "Hound of Cu Chulainn...I'll finish you in one strike!" Power began to gather in his blade, and the wind kicked up around him, blowing away the debris and the flames surrounding him. This was it, the finish! And...

...

His enemy let down his guard; speaking to an ally that they could not see, it was plain that his Master had finally shown himself and was trying to get in touch with his Servant. From the sound of it, the Lancer wasn't pleased with the command, but...was he leaving now? But if he was, where was his own Master? Was he safe? Turning his eyes to the edge of the Tower he waited for a sign, and in that moment his enemy took the chance to disperse with final words. And that was when he heard it...his master's call! "I'm coming, Master!"

...

It couldn't have been so easy to simply escape, could it? Landing safely at the bottom, he was already scouting the safest route out of the area when the voice of the Master he had been looking for finally rang out across the distance and alerted him to the presence of his opposite number. His teeth grit...he didn't need this, they needed to get away from the Tower and regroup...and more than anything, his fingers itched to kill. He could see a thousand different ways to finish the man in a single move...slicing, exploding, teeth ripping at the neck and daggers buried beneath the ribs...but his control did not give, he resisted once more. He was in this competition to defeat Servants, not to kill human beings...even if they did talk trash and seem to have the wrong idea. This swordsman would never know just how lucky he was that the killer before him was, in truth, as close to a pacifist as a man of the blade could be. Or...since he knew just what Kei was in truth, perhaps he would? This man must have been someone important to have been privy to the existence of the Human Weapons Program. Inside of his mind he called out to his Servant, aware of the growing danger surrounding him; no sooner had he done so than the enemy Servant appeared before him as well, once again putting the Deadly Nightshade at his spear's edge.

"You should check your facts. I haven't served the Shogun in some time now," he answered with a bead of sweat rolling down the back of his neck, the killing intent of both his enemies radiating so strongly that it made him positively ache to draw his blade and see how much blood he could spill upon the floor. But he couldn't give in...he wouldn't...! "All the same, if you insist on a fight to the death..." he spoke calmly, collected, his eyes never blinking once as his focus on the threat remained perfect, "I will kill you." It was all a result of his training that he could sense the change in his enemy's demeanor to purposefully menacing...hear the command that was given and see the change in the muscle tension of his enemy towards an attacking motion...even if he knew he couldn't stand against the Servant himself he could see what was coming! ...But when the lance struck forward it wasn't flesh and bone that his simple thrust struck but steel once more; crashing down into the space between them with his blade drawn in defense was Saber. The time it had taken to taunt him, to give the command, it was just enough to allow the dark-haired warrior's servant to make up the distance between them and land in defense.

Unblinking, the Human Weapon looked on from behind his Saber as he repelled the spear sharply, leaping back beside his master in a single move and placing himself slightly between him in defense.

"That said, I have no desire to kill anyone. Not even the temporary head of the Shimazu," Kei let out a small breath and caught Saber's eye, nodding just once to let a silent communication pass between them, "For now, we will withdraw. But if we cross paths again, consider well whether you wish for me to be your enemy. I will win the Grail...upon that point, I will not waver." From within his pocket his fingers swiftly produced a canister clearly marked with a barcode symbolizing the type of grenade he had drawn; pulling the pin it exploded in a thick plume of smoke that clouded the vision of the swordsman and his Servant, the loud clatter of the metal on the blacktop the last audible sign of their presence...before the smoke would blow away, revealing the Human Weapon and his Servant to be gone...their retreat already well underway...leaving only the lingering wisps of smoke and the fire still burning high upon the Tower above them as evidence that they had ever been there at all...

"You haven't changed...whatever your allegiance now, a killer trained by the Mori such as yourself will always be a killer." Sieg hadn't been sure what to think when he first spotted Kei, but hearing the declaration of the Human Weapon only assured him that all the rumors he'd heard about their kind were true. Unlike the Shimazu clan which acted with dignity, he was merely searching in some selfish pursuit, one in which violence was his only solution...someone like him could not be allowed to possess the grail. "We will cross paths again, Deadly Nightshade. And when we do, you will face judgment at the hands of the Shimazu of Satsuma. Your deeds will truly be judged then." Sieg turned, and as he motioned Lancer disappeared. He turned his back on the burning tower and began walking to a new destination, one where he would gain an advantage over the assassin...and where he could prepare himself for the next encounter between himself and the equally ill reputed foes of the Holy Grail Tournament. Speaking of, when he thought of Munakata's retribution... "The Grail, however, is another matter..."
