A bright red uniform was not Aija's idea of looking good for her first day on the job. In fact, she thought it fell under looking quite terrible for her first day on the job! Her usual hat wouldn't have made the uniform look any better, so she put her hair up in a braid, pinned it in a few places to keep it up off the ground, and started her work. It was only motivation to work hard to be promoted and get into a uniform that didn't clash brilliantly with her hair.

Aija didn't know much about the base except that it was new; everything still had that new novelty about it, though that could be because she'd never seem anything like it. Coming down into the base for the first time, Aija had decided it was the most amazing place ever and she wanted to see every single bit of it. Unfortunately, that wasn't really an option so early on, but that didn't mean she wasn't going to try.

Janitorial duty wasn't awful, at least not just yet; she hadn't had to clean up anything disgusting, and whenever there wasn't anyone in her direct vicinity, she tried getting a sneak into the Agent quarters. The trainee rooms were so stuffed, she wanted to see what kind of luxuries the agents got! Even if that meant trying to look inconspicuous in her very red uniform.

The training rooms certainly checked out; he'd tested just about every piece of equipment on offer and then got in some sparring practice against another Agent. After all that he was damn tired and damn ready for a shower too.

Still barefoot from sparring he padded quietly up the stairs that led from B4 to B3, internally lamenting that the 48 hours of freedom they had been given were coming to an end. It wasn't that he didn't enjoy his work - it largely involved training and working with his pokemon after all - but it was the principle of the thing, having to be in a certain place at a certain time and all that.

The door that led out of the stairwell swung open noiselessly at his touch and he had just stepped out, resolving to enjoy the hour or so he had before his shift started, when he spotted the hair.

Oh, and it had a girl attached to it.

It had been a while since he'd seen somebody with hair quite that... that there. The last mop had been pink too, was it something about light pink hair that made people want to grow it as long as they were? Looked like her hair was that long anyway, it was pinned up so it was a bit hard to tell....

Humm. For a trainee with cleaning equipment she didn't look like she was doing much cleaning.

Aulus folded his arms over his chest. "Good to see a new recruit hard at work," he observed dryly.

How was she supposed to go about getting a look inside the Agent rooms when her dex didn't give her entrance? Hmph. She'd either have to find a sneakier way in, or charm talk an Agent into let her have a peek, either way-

Aija jumped and spun around, holding onto her broom tightly. She spotted the Agent immediately and stood up straight, regaining her composure quickly. "Yes sir, working hard! Very hard, much to be cleaned!" She chirped, nodding like cleaning was the only thing she'd had on her mind. Aija took a few steps towards him, keeping her upright posture. "You are, ah, Agent rank, yes?" She had a feeling he knew she hadn't simply been cleaning, so she figured her next option was to try some flattery. "You must have much experience around here, it is impressive! It is nice to meet you, Mister...?" She trailed off in questioning, looking up at the tall man confidently.

Ha! Made her jump.

Perky little thing, wasn't she? Keen to impress? Maybe, made sense for a trainee; if you impressed then you didn't remain a trainee for quite so long and that was definitely to be desired. And what was that accent? He wasn't sure but she certainly didn't sound like a native English speaker. Tiny, tiny little thing too but confident which was good, he didn't have any patience for stammering. Well, unless somebody was stammering in terror after they'd done something to piss him off anyway but that was different.

"Sure you are," Aulus replied with a snort, "and yes, I'm an Agent; Aulus. Around here," he waved a hand at the shiny clean corridor, "as much experience as anyone else. I've been with the Team about three years now though if that's what you mean."

Three years! That seemed like a pretty impressive amount of time! That meant this guy had probably been around during the whole destruction of another base they'd had. And that meant he was probably pretty competent, since he wasn't dead or in jail! Then there was that scar(what was it with people and cool facial scars in Kodo?), and he had an accent that was different from the usual here. He seemed pretty interesting, and higher ranking, so he was definitely someone she wanted to get along with.

"It is nice to meet you, Agent Aulus," she said as she held out her hand to him, holding her totally-in-use broom in the other. "I am Aija! Just trainee for now, obvious. Three years, that is so many! I have only joined just very recently, but I have heard that Agent rooms, they are just for one person? Not for eight? Was wondering if this is true." Aija asked, tilting her head and smiling curiously. "If it is, that is big motivation for climbing the, um, the corporal ladder!"

Corporal ladder? Well the word fitted but it was an uncommon turn of phrase so far as he was concerned. Definitely not a native speaker... but then there were native speakers around here who spoke seriously weirdly so he supposed it didn't mean much in the end, the accent was enough evidence anyway.

"Sure, Aija," Aulus replied gruffly, shaking the hand because he couldn't think of a valid reason not to. He wanted a tough guy image, but he didn't want to be 'One Of Those' higher ups like that raging dickwad Seth.

"It's true," he continued with a shrug, "and you share a bathroom with one other person; your rooms join onto one another through it. Elites get a whole little suite to themselves, if you're looking for more motivation. Their own kitchenette and all." He was seriously jealous of Alex's kitchen. He hadn't cooked a huge amount before he'd joined TR but in the quest for decent vegetarian food it had become something of a mini hobby.
