Sunlight shone brightly down around the sparse clouds floating lazily through the sky, reflecting off of the various cars that drove past as Seraphine walked with her best friend down the sidewalk, doing her best to ignore the obnoxious sunlight that insisted on blinding her at every turn. Idly she pulled her sunglasses out of her purse to put them on her face, her thoughts focused on a single topic - the only topic of the day.

She'd never been to something like this before, likely because she never felt she ever needed to. It made some sort of sense now, she supposed, and even though she didn't know how much good it would do her, she'd promised her best friend she would go with her to these... What were they again? Self-defense classes. Class? Classes? She wasn't entirely sure - and in retrospect, she probably should've made a better effort to remember just what exactly she'd gotten herself into - but it didn't really matter anyway, she supposed. It wasn't the worst thing she could be doing, and maybe it would be useful at some point. Oh well, whatever.

"So these things," the brunette started as they walked along, presumably headed towards the place the classes would be held, "they're just... defense classes? They don't do anything with pokemon, do they?" If she could use her pokemon to defend, that would be perfectly fine - more than that, it would be preferable. If it was supposed to be just her, though, then she was a little unnerved about how it would go, all things considered.

Rosie was nervous, and like always she wasn't very good at hiding that fact, Though she tried to keep up a good attitude about it... after all, she was going to this becasue she didn't know what to do, and Sera too... this was so she could learn... as unsettling as the idea continued to be.

"Yeah, no pokemon for this one, just people." she confirmed, swallowing lightly afterwards. "Like, if you get attacked or something."

Rosie knew more of less where the classes would be, they should be coming up on the building very soon... she was sure that was it there? Yeah, the martial arts studio.
It was rented out some evenings for a women's defense class, definitely not martial arms... one step at a time after all.

Seraphine was similarly nervous, not that she would admit such a thing of course, but she found her pace slowing a little as they approached a martial arts building. Was this it? This was probably it, but she wasn't entirely sure... It seemed like a good bet though, given they were doing defense stuff and everything. "Is this the place?" She asked, gesturing towards the building and looking to her friend. She kind of hoped it wasn't the place, though, so they could spend more time walking first.

Rosie checked the name of the building once more, standing out in front of the door for a few seconds,
"Yeah, this is it." the blond confirmed, reaching a hand up to brush the back of her neck, giving Sera a nervous smile and opening the door to step in.

It seemed like an energetic place, Rosie wasn't unfamiliar with something similar, as she spent much of her life growing up in a studio, training rigorously.
though it had a different feel to it, she could feel a little at least when walking in.

A group was already gathering in the room, standing together and talking, while who Rosie recognized as the instructor stood off toward the entrance, walking over to greet the two.

"Hey, ladies, welcome." the women greeted them, holding her hand out "My name is Kitty, Are you here for the lesson tonight?"

Oh, guess they were going in now... Sera was going to ask if Rosie was ready to go in yet or not, but it seemed the question was unnecessary. Oh well... Still kind of wishing they weren't ready yet, the brunette followed her best friend inside, and gave the interior of the building a dubious look as she did.

Unlike Rosie, Sera hadn't really ever spent any time in studios, martial arts or dance or otherwise, and thus was unfamiliar with it except for seeing similar setups in movies, but those didn't exactly count for much. This was a lot different, and she wasn't sure how she felt about it just yet. She probably didn't like it, actually. The woman that approached them caught her off-guard, as she hadn't expected to be greeted like that - what had she expected? Maybe some sort of desk they had to go to where they wrote their names down or... something. She wasn't really sure, actually, and she rubbed her arm uncomfortably as she simply said, "Yeah." Oh yes, very eloquent. Wonderful. Ugh, she wished she could just leave already.

The women's eyes did drift down toward Sera's arm, and lack of hand, but the sight didn't seem to change anything of the women's behavior of demeanor.

Rosie smiled gently, and held her hand out a little flustered to greet her.
"Oh, yeah, we are, I'm Rosie, and this is Sera."
It was nice that the instructor seemed kind, and enthusiastic, enough to greet students at the door when she was close by.

Kitty greeted them each in turn, and asked them to sign in, before she excused herself to say hello to more students.
Rosie glanced to her friend, making her way other to the clip board on a near by table to sight herself in.
"She seems like she'll be a good instructor."

The look to her arm certainly did not go unnoticed, but the fact the woman didn't really react to it did - but then, Sera would have felt the same, or very similar, even if she had. She tensed immediately, suddenly feeling much more defensive than she had a few moments ago, and her thoughts slowly headed towards just how badly this woman must think of her right off the bat, all because of her hand. She didn't stop to think that the instructor likely didn't actually feel that way at all.

Rosie's comment startled Sera, and she realized that she'd pretty much zoned out after the initial greeting. She hadn't even noticed the woman had walked away. With a brief shake of her head to dispel her thoughts, she stepped up to Rosie and similarly signed herself in. "I guess," she said with a small frown.

Once rosie was finished signing hr and Sera in, the blond straightened up, looking over at her friend quietly.
"...Thanks for coming with me." She said,
She knew full well that Sera didn't want to be here, she didn't really have interest in this kind of thing, but it meant a lot to Rosie that she could come anyway.

"Huh? Oh," Sera frowned a little, still rather absorbed in her thoughts. She really needed to stop doing that. "No problem." Except she felt like everyone was judging her. How could she defend herself like everyone else when she wasn't like everyone else? When she didn't have two hands like everyone else? There had to be some way, she assumed, but she wasn't entirely sure what it was, or how effective she'd be at it.

Rosie smiled gently, stepping over to take a hold of her arm out to link it with her friend's.
"Still."

(OMG I could totally write out the class, but this time around I'm not ganna
Next time)

The class started on time, it started as a good introduction into what they would be learning, as well as the basics of what the class would be about.
They were taking through a couple of very generic serine, and given pointers.
The instructor Kitty was very patient, along with her two helpers for the class, taking the time to not only change up the technique or strategy for Sera to give her time pretty neat pointers about her missing hand.

Rosie wish she could say it was a good first lesson, but she found herself spending most of the lesson in the background, looking somewhat sick.
By the time the lesson was let out she looked pretty frazzled, and tense, despite the encouragement that she would work past it as the weeks went on.

Rosie walked out of the building, holding the door for Sera for her friend to join her, her grip tighter then it had to be on her bag strap.

While the instructor and her assistants had undoubtedly been very helpful, Sera never liked drawing attention to her missing hand, and focusing on it and being given tips for moves without it did the exact opposite. When the class had finally ended, the brunette was more than happy to depart, and stepped out into the street with a sigh, though she felt a lot better once out of the building than she had inside it. She turned to regard Rosie and opened her mouth to speak, but closed it when she noticed how her friend looked. The girl frowned, concern growing in her expression as she asked, "You okay? You look kinda.. sick, almost," she pointed out, without regard for how her words could come across.

Rosie blinked, coming back to earth and looking over to her friend quickly, putting a small smile on her face and shaking her head. "yeah, I'm fine. It was a good class, she knew a lot of cool stuff for you, huh."

Sera narrowed her eyes a little, watching Rosie warily. Oh yes, she totally believed her. "Yeah... You sure you're okay? I mean, this kind of isn't the stuff you normally do," she pointed out, still extremely skeptical.
PostPosted: Tue Jun 03, 2014 8:51 pm
Rosie's eyes widened as her eyebrows arched, looking back to her friend as she asked again if Rosie was sure she was okay.
"uh.. well no, its not." she admitted with a light shrug. "but you know, Its important."

"Yeah, it is," Sera agreed, though not without some hesitance of her own. This wasn't exactly something she had volunteered to do, but her friend needed the support and so she had (very) reluctantly agreed. Still... "I dunno, you just didn't really look too... happy about it, I guess." Being sick usually led to unhappiness in her experience.
