                                                                      Age 7

The cold wind blew through her young dark hair, getting in her eyes and nose. Eyes watering from the useless winds, she flinched away into her grandfathers coat. He stood there staring at her with the blank stare that never changed. Was there something wrong with him? Did he hate her? The thought only made her snuggle deeper to the man. His grip was cold as he wrapped himself around the small child, not taking any notice to the outside world. Grandfathers life was coming to an end. He had merely two days left before the estimate time was up, and it was Nami's first time meeting him. Perhaps he had always planned to push this meeting until he was dead.

"Your grandmother was like you..." His voice whispered into her ear fondly. He didn't continue that. For the moment, he was enticed with meeting his granddaughter. It was a cold winter day, and they embraced each other outside of the Ametsu House. The cherry blossom tree was bare and distant, making the place seem more depressing then it actually was. Granddad's face went ashen at the sight, sad memories seemingly broke into him. His eyes watered, but the tears did not fall for his strong heart stopped it before they did.

The house opened for him, never had it opened for her when she came home from the academy. She frowned but followed him inside, curios on what everyone else had to say about grandpa. They embraced him, and chatter erupted in the household. Usually it was useless whispers that her ears could never reach, but today it was joyous and loud. She felt left out as grandpa was pulled from her and taken into the kitchen. She attempted to follow, but they shooed her out almost immediately, as if she was a dog. Their excuse was that she needed to go to bed for school in the morning.

The next day was as cold as the last, but their house seemed warmer. Rolling through tendrils of the dark, she left the house first thing in the morning for the academy. No one in the house cared, and no one knew, but it was her graduation ceremony. She was to be a shinobi, the excitement of defending her family was something she loved. She was fast to make it to the village, the school, and into her seat. Almost bouncing in excitement, she absolutely couldn't wait. Fellow classmates either sneered or ignored her as they arrived, which was normal. People hated her family. They heard rumors about them being cursed and immediately abandoned the possibility that it was all simply a rumor. The kunoichi in charge named the people graduating to genin, and sure enough Nami Ametsu's name was on it.

Her squad consisted of Ida Kusanoki, Levi Oronoa, and herself. Their leader went by the name of Gungo. Ida was the kind of person to insult you by complimenting you. It was complicated when she spoke, and it only made Nami's head hurt. But she continued to listen to her goals, what she wanted to do. "I want to be the best sealer in the world..." Nami was confused at this, because Ida wasn't even an Uzumaki. Only Uzumaki's can achieve such titles, since their clan was for sealers. Her mind started to wander as the girl spoke about going places far away.

It was Levi's turn, and instead of saying a lot like the previous mouth, he shrugged. "Perhaps save a few lives." He was a medical shinobi, who looked dead. It was ironic to Nami, and it made her giggle. At her turn she also did the same shrug. "I don't know." The leader face palmed. It would seem to him that he had a girl that dreamed to big, a boy that wasn't entertained by the world, and a girl that didn't dream at all. She almost felt sorry for him, but didn't. It was rare for her to care for a stranger, and Gungo wasn't getting any special treatment just because he was kind of attractive. The one thing that made Nami stand out was the fact that she was considerably younger then the rest of them. They both ranged from the age 12 to 13, while she sat there being barely old enough to understand the whole world. Yet she did.

She did... Because she had dreams. All the time, about random people, using random people. She was those random people and it was confusing yet at the same time calming. Wings are you still reading? Things happened for reasons, and those reasons varied and twisted into things that people believed young people didn't understand. However she knew that some of those reasons weren't simply just reasons but more. They were so much more. Vincente are you reading this.

She got home that evening and was once again in the arms of her grandfather. They spoke for a while, and he revealed so much to her young mind. "Your grandmother loved... she loved her powers. She could predict the future, and use minds of others to do her bidding. She was such a powerful girl, I loved her so much." His face twisted into a wrinkly smile. "It was twenty years ago, summer, when she died. The pesky Oni... They launched a rebellion on us. We used to have hundreds of the scoundrels protecting us, but they turned and murdered everyone with the gift. War. So much war, that lasted many lifetimes into the beginning of our own. We, at the time, thought the Oni were peaceful. We thought that they no longer held any grudges so we let one in our house. Mostly to protect your father, but that's when the Oni attacked. When no one expected, he stabbed our son and it killed Lana to watch such a thing. She ordered him to be healed and spent the rest of her life hunting and killing that one Oni."

"Our clan used to be the best." He continued. "Long before my time, we used to be large and prosperous. We had the power of gods, you still do. To enter the mind of another, to see with your mind. It's the most extraordinary thing. You don't have to use handseals, so this isn't jutsu. This is a gift, its powers from the god that we worship. One day you'll rule this demonic country and turn it away from the constant bad aura, into the light. You'll show people of the day that this country isn't so bad... please. I.... I.." His random rambling seemed to stop mid sentence. The whole time the young girl was concentrating, wanting him to stop talking and the fact that he finally did made her smile. He stopped smiling, and instead he started to die. She stood there and watched with no expression on her face, and she started to realize her dream. Wings are you reading. Her goal in life was to bring the demon country to a new beginning.

People rushed over to see grandfather fall, which was quite unfortunate. Nami wanted to be the only one to share his last breath...

                                                                      -

soul·mate: a person with whom you have an immediate connection the moment you meet — a connection so strong that you are drawn to them in a way you have never experienced before.

                                                                      -

                                                                      Present

The girl was breathing hard, the oxygen to her brain was almost cut off severely. What was that? Anger is like flowing water; there's nothing wrong with it as long as you let it flow. Hate is like stagnant water; anger that you denied yourself the freedom to feel, the freedom to flow; water that you gathered in one place and left to forget. Stagnant water becomes dirty, stinky, disease-ridden, poisonous, deadly; that is your hate. On flowing water travels little paper boats; paper boats of forgiveness. Allow yourself to feel anger, allow your waters to flow, along with all the paper boats of forgiveness. Be human. Be human. Be human. So why was it so hard for Nami to be one? One minute she appreciated the girl giving her problems, the next she was giving her orders to die. Did anyone deserve this? No. No one did. She clenched her eyes shut and waited for the body to go away- but it didn't. It was another person for her to bury within her court yard... next to her mother. Next to several children. Along the side of grandfather and the maids... She dragged the body from the steps and into a pre-made hole that she created for reasons like this.

Nami sat down after the burial, and brought out a few books. “And sometimes I believe your relentless analysis of June leaves something out, which is your feeling for her beyond knowledge, or in spite of knowledge. I often see how you sob over what you destroy, how you want to stop and just worship; and you do stop, and then a moment later you are at it again with a knife, like a surgeon. What will you do after you have revealed all there is to know about June? Truth. What ferocity in your quest of it. You destroy and you suffer. In some strange way I am not with you, I am against you. We are destined to hold two truths. I love you and I fight you. And you, the same. We will be stronger for it, each of us, stronger with our love and our hate. When you caricature and nail down and tear apart, I hate you. I want to answer you, not with weak or stupid poetry but with a wonder as strong as your reality. I want to fight your surgical knife with all the occult and magical forces of the world. Anger is an essential part of being human. People are taught to deny themselves anger, and in this, they are actually opening themselves up to hate. The more you deny yourself the freedom to be angry, the more you will hate. Let yourself be angry, and hate will disintegrate, and when hate disintegrates, forgiveness prevails! The more you deny that you are angry, in attempts to be "holy" the more inhuman you will become, and the more inhuman you will become, the harder it will be to forgive.”

She shut the book, and stared- sitting along the flowerbed. She turned her head and saw it- above her mothers grave a plant was starting to grow.

                                                                      User Image

The wind no longer blew dark hair, and instead it blew strands of orange. This was definitely different for the almost abandoned household, however the woman standing there thought it would be nice to change. She was eighteen now, her isolation had only served to further her anxiety and social phobia. It would be the first time she'd step from her house in what.. three... eight years? The idea made her want to cough with hatred for herself.

The young sage looked around the place, a feeling of unease. This was the first house she spotted, something rather... unusual. It felt dead. The plants hadn't been touched in months, dried blood was all over... Outside there were lumps in the ground that resembled graves. This was all so sickening and weird, Artemis left rather quickly. This wasn't the information she needed.
