Mark Driscoll and the Peril of Secret Sins

The even sadder thing about secret sins is how, once they come to light, they will overshadow whatever content/words we've put out in the past, even if the doctrine is correct.

It's like Eve, she knew the instruction and could recite it when temptation came, but she still acted against it instead of remaining loyal to God's instruction/nature. It's not enough to hear the word correctly, repeat it correctly, and teach it correctly. We must walk it.

Sigh~ ...easier said than done. That pesky sinful nature. May our Heavenly Father send a spirit of wisdom and revelation to his body so that we walk in understanding when temptation hits. May he annihilate all pride within us. And may incidents like this not happen again D; It's God's reputation that gets hurt ultimately.

At least as far as the world is concerned, because they are watching our actions - if they line up with what we are saying. If we are being hypocrites the world is going to notice it, and call us out on it. I agree wholeheartedly with what you are saying. We can't just say it. If it has any meaning at all to us - we have to be changed by it.
