gaia_crown [ Trance anomalies have surfaced in FEAR-rich areas! ]
All across the globe, small windows into other realities, dubbed trance anomalies, have started appearing at random. While entirely harmless, these shimmering portals tend to slowly and steadily grow in size unless attended to by a being attuned to FEAR.
These trance anomalies contain projections of an infinite number of possibilities -- be they past, present, or future. Collapsing them is easy: all they need is at least one person's thoughts and memories. In return, they offer up an unlimited amount of could have beens.
And then they close, vanishing into nothing.
(But then, at least, you've got your memories, don't you?)
OOC
WHAT DOES THIS MEAN?
What are they?
- Trance anomalies are a chance for you to play in AU worlds, directed by the prompts!
- ICly, talk about these trance anomalies have come up for all factions. No one has been tasked to take care of them specifically, as they're rather harmless.
- Your character can come across them anywhere in Halloween. In the human world, they can be found around former and active bases, abandoned lairs, ruins, and other FEAR-rich areas.
How do they work?
- Trance anomalies offer windows into alternate pasts, presents, and futures.
- Feel free to have fun worldbuilding, but if you are in a group, please collaborate!
- When in a trance anomaly, characters have NO MEMORIES of who they are in the real world. They are fully the role in their world!
- After the trance anomaly as over, characters can remember as much or as little of these events as you wish.
- Events in a trance anomaly are clearly remembered as 'other'-- there is no confusing them with reality. They retain a 'dreamy' feel.
- ICly, no more than 5-15 minutes pass while characters experience a trance anomaly.
RULES:
- Follow the RP rules given in each prompt, and make sure to adhere to the setting.
- The anomaly ends with the question posed is answered ICly.
What are the limits?
- These portals can only be accessed on a limited basis: They're pretty random, after all!
- Players can only participate in one trance anomaly at a time.
- There is also a cooldown! Players cannot begin a new one for one week. The cooldown starts after a player's first post in a trance anomaly thread.
- Trance anomalies can be repeated, BUT it is a different universe every time, nothing carries over.
- Trance anomalies can be accessed solo or in a group, and have no upper limit on number of participants.
- Old disposables from previous events CANNOT be used, thank you! (Upgraded runic hunters are an exception!)
Who can do them?
- Any character from any faction can find a trance anomaly. and playing cross-faction is fine!
- "Participants" are any character that physically travel to the trance anomaly.
- There is no limit on NPCs or visitors.
- NPCs can be made for the trance anomaly, and are just extra characters that fit that reality. Children, alternate parents, citizens, enemies, etc.
- "Visitors" are other characters that are not physically present, but played by their owner.
- Visitors do not canonically experience the trance anomaly, and retain no memories of them, as they never actually saw it!
- Old disposables from previous events CANNOT be used, thank you! (Upgraded runic hunters are an exception!)
Where do I do it?
- All trances should be done in the the world of Trance subforum. Please label them as [ TRANCE AU ] name here [chars here ].
- You may RP out characters finding them in any other appropriate subforum if you wish, but be sure that once the anomaly starts, you make a new thread in that subforum!
To Drabble or Not to Drabble
- You can play these out like a normal PRP or ORP with post orders
- Or, you can play it drabble style! (If you're unfamiliar with drabbles, think of it like a series of snippets played in no real order.)
- Title each post with a small name for the moment in bold.
