I think these names and what they believed in and did shows that it is not religion that is the problem, but the condition of the human heart just like the Bible states. Jeremiah 17:9 The heart is deceitful above all things and beyond cure. Who can understand it? What is the solution? Ezekiel 36:26 I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you; I will remove from you your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh. It is turning to God not away from Him, and asking Him for forgiveness and healing.
