It was a strange find, and one that she took as a sign from above: distracted and concerned and annoyed by turns, and so she took it not home, not to a collection of charming prizes, but to the nearest legendary she knew of.

Courtesy laid the egg -- almost pristine, except for one small hole on one side, hollow inside -- on the ground in the middle of the kiokote's stomping grounds and turned in a slow, careful circle.

"Hello?"

"Hello!" Cheerful, but clearly coming from a distance. A blink though and she appeared.

Starburst smiled, gentle, motherly. She asked, though she already know the answer, "How can I help you today?"

The egg seems to have gone unnoticed.

"I brought an offering." It was curt, but not impolite: Courtesy tipping her head slightly in greeting. "For a blessing."

Starburst considered the egg with a smile. While she could recognize it's rarity, she did not collect objects.

"Thank you, but perhaps you will indulge a mare in her habits," she began by way of introduction. "I don't collect baubles, but I do collect insights into the heart, or stories if you prefer. So an answer to a question for a blessing, if you're willing."

There was a long pause in which Courtesy's disapproval came off of her in waves -- because, in her opinion, it was painfully rude to turn down a gift of any sort, whether you wanted it or no. She didn't say anything about it, just thought it: loud enough that it was clear on her face and in her posture, maybe expecting the mare to take it all the same, and then --

"Very well." Frosty, but polite. She'd wait for the question.

Starburst seemed serenely unfazed by the disapproval; she had encountered worse in the process of meeting soon-to-be parents and she had long since stopped taking things personally.

She did try to keep her question simple though, "What is your happiest memory?"

It was too abstract of a question, and so it made Courtesy frown deeper: not melting into the joy of some happy past, but annoyed by the here and now. It was alright, though. She only technically had to answer. Truthfully, but not emotionally.

"A young buck's gift." Was that enough information? She raised eyebrow scales in question. It was only a little sarcastic.

Starburst hummed softly, considering the other doe. A slight tilt of her head prefaced her next words. "May your children receive many gifts of different kinds."

She had considered asking for further explanation but this was not the day. Nodding at the egg, she smiled, "And thank you for these beautiful egg. I'm sure the children will love it."

With that, she bent down and took the egg gently between her teeth before turning around, disappearing into the distance to return to her charges.
