The sunny, cloudless sky that reminded him of summer disappointed Abel as he zipped his hoodie up to fend off the chill in the air. Winter was definitely passing, that much was certain, though the temperatures had yet to rise much. The blond sat atop his fire escape, his back leaned against the brick wall while his elbow rested on his raised knee so that his fingers could rub at his forehead. His other hand, a lit cigarette held between a couple fingers, rested over his other leg, and he didn't bother to open his eyes as he raised it to his lips for another drag.

Isaac watched his friend from the safety of the closed window that opened out onto the fire escape, his ears slicked back and concern knotting his brow. The blond had been acting quite different, much more stressed these past few weeks, and had been seeking solace through smoking or drinking more often. The Espeon had no idea what was going on, just that it involved a young woman Abel seemed to dislike quite a bit. To be honest, he wasn't quite sure which he preferred - the smoking or the drinking - but he was inclined to say drinking. While he didn't particularly like either, at least drinking kept Abel inside the apartment, and not sitting on a fire escape quite a few floors up where he'd be gravely injured should he fall.

Whatever silence the blond was given on the balcony, though being in a city with traffic and the bustle of every day life from hundreds of people in the aria may not have been much at all, was broken very suddenly when there was a alarming crashing sound on the side of the balcony fencing, enough to shake the entire platform quite suddenly.

For a moment whatever had cause the collision was out of sight, but a moment later, followed with the grunt of someone pulling weight could be heard, and with an effortless pull a man in a hoodie and work out pants and shoes, dark skin and hair that was long, matted and pulled back behind his head suddenly leaped up over the railing and onto the same balcony that Abel was sitting on.

The shorter man had a split second to reach up and touch his forehead, where a fresh cut was bleeding before very suddenly realizing that he wasn't alone.

Jerome paused, inked eyes flashing upwards at the blond man where he just stood, staring. his hand hovering in the space between his eyes and forehead.
Well ********.

Cars honking, tires sometimes screeching as vehicles turned too quickly, the occasional shout from some passerby to another; white noise, all of it. Abel paid it little mind, far too wrapped up in his own thoughts to even notice it. He did notice the sudden sound as whatever made it caused the fire escape to shake - how could he not notice that? - and his cigarette had long since fallen from his fingers as his hand darted to where he kept his gun --

Except it wasn't there. Of course it wasn't there, it was safe on his dresser inside his apartment.

So instead, Abel simply perched there, half-raised onto his knees without even realizing he'd moved as such, and stared wide-eyed at the stranger who was, for whatever unfathomable reason, on his fire escape.

...bleeding on his fire escape. "You, uh," he started hesitantly - very hesitantly - as he licked his suddenly dry lips, "you okay?"

From inside, Isaac stood with his paws on the windowsill and his ears perked straight up, looking between the two humans but mostly at the unfamiliar one, hoping he wouldn't try to do anything.

Jerome tenced a little at the stance that the man was taking, he could recognize the body language of someone reaching for a gun, and even though the man didn't have one in hand, Jerome couldn't know if he didn't actually have one on him at the time or not.

Still, a gun didn't appear, and the man, despite just having had a rough looking intruder seemed to be... asking if he was okay?

Blinking a couple of times, and glancing to the blood at the tip of his fingers lowered his hand and nodded "It happens." He spoke, softly, though his deep voice carried well enough to be heard.
"I slipped..."

A moment Later they would be joined by a Gengar, seeming to pop out of no where and laughing his head off.

He didn't have his gun with him so he didn't feel safe at all - but then, the stranger wasn't making any sudden movements or anything... Actually, he just seemed to be... waiting there. Waiting for him, maybe? To see what he'd do? Abel wasn't entirely sure, but it seemed to him like they were both waiting to see what the other would do. The sudden appearance of the Gengar made him tense even more - if such a thing were possible - but the ghost seemed too preoccupied with laughing to be much of a threat at the moment.

"You slipped," he repeated softly, trying to will himself to relax even a little bit as he focused on trying to puzzle the situation out in which he'd unexpectedly found himself, "on... the fire escape?" His eyes darted down to the ground some floors beneath them, then back up to the guy, "All the way up here?" Where the... "Where the hell did you slip from?"

As Bro appearaed and started laughing, Jerome shot a quick glance over to the ghost type, with a light frown before looking back over to the other man, much more concerned with how on edge he seemed then anything else. Mapping out a quick escape, waiting on edge for who should move first and how best to avoid getting shot.
He didn't like the idea of adding another bullet hole to his already large collection on his body.

"Yeah...." Jerome replied simply, glancing up toward the neighboring roof and pointing his blood covered finger in a brief gesture toward it and answering in a casual and straight forward voice "From up there."

Waiting, waiting -- Abel hated this waiting, and yet he wasn't about to be the first to move, so he remained frozen in place. Damn, why didn't he have his gun on him? This other guy was way too close, and if he wanted a fight then he'd probably find himself falling headfirst into the pavement in a matter of seconds. Abel had no intention of having such an intimate meeting with the ground any time soon. "From up there," the blond echoed as his gaze matched the other man's and darted briefly up to the rooftops. The only things he could think of someone doing on a roof were all various levels of illegal, so he could only frown back at the bleeding man, "Why were you up there?" Well, so far he hadn't been assaulted or thrown off his fire escape, nor had a gun been pointed at his face, so this had a chance of maybe going not terribly... Possibly.

"Runnin'" He answered, again simply, though in his lingo that meant a whole lot more. Streets knew what running was, even if it was a form who's impact and popularity had died off with the last of the ET-14s.
Jerome pulled himself back a little, his eyes falling over this man once more.
"... Look brotha' Ya don't want violence or ya woulda brought it- and I ain't lookin' f'a fight either. F'anythin' M'lookin for a towel." Jerome made gesture to the still bleeding cut on his head that was starting to drip quite profusely coloring his dark skin with a bright red all down one side of his face.
"F'ya got one?"

To get out of there would have been the better option, but throwing yourself off of a high fire escape even with as skilled as he knew he was, was not a good idea with a fresh head injury.

...running? On rooftops? That only meant one of two things: One was illegal, and the other was parkour. He didn't know which one it was, but he--oh, right, he was still bleeding. "Ah," well now he felt kind of dumb, "sorry. Yeah, sure, gimme a minute." His fingers shifted and he glanced down, only now realizing his lit cigarette had disappeared. A soft frown settled over his face at that; he'd barely even smoked any of it. What a waste. After a moment or two of lamenting his lost cigarette, he reached back behind him and slid the window up.

Isaac had been joined by all of Abel's other pokemon, all trying to push each other aside so they could see out the window, and the blond made a shooing motion at them. "Go on," he said, and when they didn't, he frowned at them and repeated the gesture more emphatically, "go on. Sonia, go grab me the first aid kit." Request made, he gently pushed Elizabeth away by her nose since she was the only one who hadn't moved as asked and then swung a leg through the window before slipping the rest of the way inside.

The Charmeleon moved away when he pushed her, and the moment he walked by she moved right back, unperturbed, and stuck her head through the window to look curiously at the stranger on their fire escape. Caleb, too, peeked over the windowsill to get a better look at the unfamiliar man, though he didn't seem eager or enthusiastic like the larger fire-type did.
